“Welllll,” she hummed, “Yes and no..” Juniper offered a sideways grin at the small laugh, “Bad guys typically don’t like to be questioned by the police, which in turn makes them run. Soo sometimes when I’m chasing after them I bump into innocent bystanders, or tackle the bad guys.”
“You’re a detective?” She didn’t know whether to be nervous or feel better. She’d had bad experiences with police in New York. “What kind of bad guys do you deal with?” She asked awkwardly. “It’s cool that you’re a detective.” She said as an awkward after thought.

“I highly doubt that.” The red head responded with a playful wink and a secretive smile. “I can swim in any weather and never get sick.” There was a boastfulness to her tone though it was more playful then haughty.
The red head frowned. “With Keira huh? Figures why you look so unfamiliar. I go about her place every now and then on house calls whenever I’m needed.” She said. At her question she shrugged. “As often as I can I guess? I am rather partial to open waters.” She noticed the shift and frowned. “You alright?”
Kenzie had heard from Keira about the different types of people who lived in the town. Or were they creatures? Was she a creature? She pushed those thoughts aside, problems from another day. She had a guess as to what the woman was hinting at but wasn’t sure. She leaned a bit close. “Are you a siren?” She asked in awe.
“Yeah,” she admitted with slight blush. “I was in a bad way when she found me. It’s amazing I’m alive.” The words were true in so many ways. Kenzie nodded as she settled back down. “I’m just... jumpy. I found getting too close to people can have bad side effects. I’m Kenzie by the way.”

Yeah, I’m fine. The very human response that meant the complete opposite. Culture and civilization changed but human nature did not. Even if he wasn’t a vampire or hadn’t lived as long as he had, she wasn’t fine. Obviously, she didn’t want to talk about it and Jace didn’t get paid enough to be told about insignificant human issues that by the time he walked away he would have forgotten about. But the human response was to offer a look of understanding; that was what made vampire so dangerous, they were by all appearances and mannerisms human. It allowed them to hunt their prey in the open.
“I’m guessing it didn’t help much.” Reading between the lines from the information she offered freely to him. Jace could be charismatic and likable, he’d been playing the game for a long time and had perfected this to an art. “I just got back into town. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Mistfall and thought I’d have a look around at what had changed.” It wasn’t that unusual of a response either. Though a while to him meant a century not just a handful of years.
“Are you from Mistfall? Or just recently arrived?” He asked with curiosity. Anyone to this quaint little town might have wondered about the locals or what drew them into town. Jace didn’t know much about the werewolf pack in town or if she was a lone wolf who had sought the sanctuary that Mistfall was meant to be. He still thought of it with sarcasm in thought; he hadn’t wanted to stick around in this place.
Kenzie found herself growing more nervous as their conversation progressed. The coppery smell was irritating and her new instincts were screaming. She thought it was because that smooth charming act was something she’d been around too many times before. Daniel had seemed to be similar at first glance. It was until further in, until she relied on him more that the truth had come out. She shuttered at the thought.
Focus. She reprimanded herself. Even if she was uneasy that was no reason to be rude. “No.” She paused. “Not particularly.” She couldn’t help looking him over feeling like she was sizing him up although she still wasn’t sure why, to anyone else it may have looked that she was checking him out but that was far from the case. She gave a half smile just hoping to make it through the conversation. “You hear on business or pleasure?” She was curious why he returned. “Do you have family in the area?” It seemed the most logical reason for leaving and returning to the area. Maybe it’s where he was raised.
“Recently arrived actually. I’ve been slowly getting to know the town. It’s cozy.” She said a hint of contentment in her voice hoping the cozy town would be safer than the city she had run from.

Concern and Care
Kenzie had woken up yesterday on a strange couch with no idea what was going on and her entire body hurting. She was panicked and frozen when she first heard the idea that she was a werewolf. When Keira first showed her her claws and eyes. She panicked for a moment but she felt her new instincts telling her that Keira was safe. She didn’t understand how or why but Keira felt safe.
Kenzie woke up a bit early, she had fallen asleep on the couch and had been dosing on and off. She was still scared she would be found but no one really knew her name. Keira knew she had been called Maggie but now called her Kenzie as she had asked. She was nervous and panicked. She heard someone move in the bedroom. “Keira?” She called nervous

“Well even if you felt hot you could just jump right in.” The water always looked so good to Amairah. Partly because she was a Siren after all. “And you’re not disturbing me at all! I mean you were here first. Which means I’m the one disturbing you.” Pulling on her converse shoes and now tying the laces, Amairah brushed her still wet hair from her face.
Once done she turned her attention back to the girl. There was something about the way she held herself that made Amairah frown in slight confusion. “Do you come here often?” She continued, her tone soft and kind as as she smiled at the other.
Kenzie couldn’t help but laugh at the idea of jumping in. The sun was setting and they were in the northern part of Maine, so the warmth was leaving the hair. Kenzie’s laugh was soft and on the quiet side. “You’re going to catch a cold swimming at night.” She said softly.
“No...” She looked down. “I’ve just moved to town... I live with Keira... I’ve just started exploring...” She said shifting nervously. “Do you swim at night often?”

Mistfall, Maine. It had been a little over a century since he’d returned to his sister’s coveted home - the sanctuary to the supernatural world where they all lived in peace. That still made him laugh; not that Jace didn’t appreciate the efforts Myla had attempted, but he’d been the voice that had warned something like this would happen. Maybe it had taken some time but he hadn’t been all that surprised by the murder of a beloved High Priestess. He seemed to remember another that had needed to be placed six feet under, but that was a story for a different time.
As it was, here he was, back in Mistfall. Myla was mayor and dealing with the politics of everything that came with the death. He promised to be on his best behavior - he left that open for interpretation. But for the now he intended to get reacquainted with the 21st century version of the city. He was out by the pier and it didn’t happen often that someone managed accidentally bump into the original vampire. Reflexes and all that.
Immediately the accidental bump was met with nervous apologies. Hazel eyes quickly took in the figure before him. The breeze coming off the water shifted and the smell of wet dog was unmistakable…werewolf. His prejudice against the species came from a long history. He liked to consider himself civilized at least to be able to carry on a conversation. “Don’t worry about it, no harm done.” He said casually trying to put her mind at ease. Though it was obvious by the way the girl, the wolf, before him carried herself; she shifted her weight from foot to foot, uncomfortable int he predicament. “I’ll manage to carry on. Are you alright?” He asked in common courtesy. “Deep in thought, just enjoying the evening or a combination of the two?”
Kenzie stood in front of the man regretting many life choices. Her new insticts told her he was something bad and the old ones told her to turn around and run. There was a strange coppery smell about him, kind of like the smell of blood. There was something off about him, something that didn’t fit with the surroundings as though he were slightly out of place, but Kenzie knew that was probably her paranoia.
Kenzie wasn’t entirely sure how to react to him the response seemed polite but there was something about him. Kenzie couldn’t place it. The fact that he tried to make conversation surprised her, in her old life sometimes she’d go full days without saying a word to anyone. Now, she felt like she was constantly talking.
She should have relaxed when he said no harm done, but she didn’t. Then he asked if she was alright. The answer was no. She was in no way okay. She was overwhelmed and confused and kind of wished for invisibility. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She lied her eyes flicking to his for only a moment. “Just lost in thought. I went for a walk hoping it would help.” She said not knowing why she shared that with this man. “What about you? What brings you out today?” She said her manners making her ask despite her continued desire to run.

Kenzie had only been living at Keira’s for a week now. She was still shaky and panicked and jumped when ever something moved. Keira said she didn’t have to do anything yet but she felt like she needed to go explore. She had managed to get dressed and went for a walk. She was walking towards the pier when she accidentally bumped into some. “Sorry.. sorry… I am so sorry.” She said shifting nervously from foot to foot.
“Hey!” she muttered out as she stumbled backwards from the collision, Juniper was still dressed in her work attire, but was currently off duty. “It’s ok,” she reassured, “Don’t worry about it…besides it’s not like I haven’t bumped into people before.” Or tackled them. “I think you would be surprised by how often something happens like this,” she paused, “Actually I think this is the first that someone has bumped into me. Huh. At least neither of us was carrying coffee?”
Kenzie shifted nervous but her gut told her this woman wasn’t a threat. She wasn’t used to that gut feeling yet, just the years of only being able to trust herself. Not that trusting her choices had helped anything. She had picked Daniel at one point. She battled internally maybe her new senses knew better. Kenzie produced a small laugh at the ramblings of the woman who was a detective, and human from the smell of it. “Yeah good thing. You bump into people a lot?” She asked a bit confused. “As a detective?”

A refreshing swim after a few hectic days seemed to have done wonders for her. Shaking her wet hair back from her face, the red head heaved a delighted sigh at how relaxed she felt. Turning to wave at her little brother, who was still swimming around, Amairah shrugged her clothes on her still wet body. A simple button down and jeans. Not bothering with shoes for now, she easily made her way to the pier.
The rocks were sharp under her pale white feet, but it didn’t really matter. Grunting as she pushed herself up the side of the pier, Amairah very nearly tumbled onto the pier. Giggling softly at her own clumsiness, she sat up, and then blinked in surprise at the sight of the other person. And their reaction. “Why would you be going? Its such a beautiful evening.” She gestured to the sight of the slowly setting sun.
Kenzie wasn’t good with people, especially new people. She was barely calm around Keira so when she saw the form tumble onto the pier she was skeptical. She didn’t know this person. They could be dangerous or somehow know her or... Kenzie wasn’t sure but everything in her body screamed she wasn’t safe. She froze however when the form, who turned out to be a woman, spoke to her.
“Ummm... I don’t want to disturb you.” She said her eyes not really meeting the woman’s who was fairly pretty now that she was closer. Kenzie relaxed an iota. This woman didn’t act like most dangerous people. “Yeah it’s really pretty out and not too hot.” Kenzie said not knowing where the conversation came from.

cateline-romanov:
Cateline remembered Mistfall when her sister had just founded the town. Wooden buildings used to line the sparse newly set out roads, though they had been dirt paths back then. Now, modern buildings and a growing population replaced the colonial settlement she remembered. Cateline had just finished up some lunch at the Violet Port and was going to visit her sister when a small and meek woman bumped into her. To her amusement and pleasure the little girl started to stutter out an apology. Cateline regarded her with a cool, detatched amusement and instantly caught the scent of wolf clinging to her. “At least you display some basic manners.” She finally regarded her in a cool voice that held an slight European accent you couldn’t trace anywhere.
Kenzie froze in complete and utter terror at the woman who now stood in front of her. She had a slight accent; Kenzie would have been fine with a slight accent. The issue was the edge in her voice. Fuck that edge you never knew what side of the coin you’d land on. If you’d get the safe side or the side that would beat the hell out of you for a misstep. She completely avoided eye contact looking around. “Uhh... Thank you Miss.... sorry I’m unsure of your name.” Her eyes were on her feet ready to face the wrath of this terrifying woman.

Finding a Friend
It was Kenzie’s fifth day. She just needed some air. Keira had been wonderful not pushing her, just being there for comfort and reassurance. Kenzie knew she just need some peace and quiet and some air to clear her head. Keira was busy away at her bar. Kenz decided she would go for a walk. She put on jeans and a hoodie. She would go for a walk on the pier.
She made her way down to the pier. The town was quiet so she had been calm most of the way. Occasionally, there would be sounds that would make her jump or cringe, but there were less than the day would have. When she arrived she sat on the edge of the pier taking in the sound and beauty of the water it wasn’t until she saw someone coming that she started moving backwards. “Um hi... sorry I was just... uhh... going...” She said terrified of the figure

❦ KENZ BLACKWOOD ❦ 21 ❦ April 7th ❦ Unemployed ❦ WEREWOLF in the MITCHELL PACK
BIOGRAPHY Kenz Blackwood, wasn’t always the woman who stumbled into Mistfall. She was born Margret Thomas but everyone called her Maggie. She was once more hopeful, but her path was always a difficult one. Born into an abusive family she had never felt safe or as though she was worth anything, let alone love. She had always felt unwanted and alone, until one day she met Daniel. They had met in high school and he seemed so kind… at first. Slowly she came to see the truth he was just like her father. She’d try to do everything right to be the perfect girlfriend, but it was never good enough. On the worst days no matter what she did or didn’t do he’d still be furious. He’d scream and then hit her. He’d hurt her and hurt her until she was just a sobbing puddle on their apartment floor. She’d tried to leave him, but he’d made it clear that was not an option. The first time she’d just tried to go home, even though it was abusive she thought she’d be safer there. Daniel came to get her, he apologized and fooled her family. They told her to give him another chance that people get better. She went back with him and that night was one of the worst beatings she had ever received. She had multiple broken bones and was forced to lie to the workers at their hospital. The next time she ran she ran far and fast, that’s how she ended up in Mistfall. She had hitchhiked because she had no money. She only had a few outfits and some mementos from the few warm moments in her life. When she had made it up to a city in Maine she thought she’d feel safe but the large town was still too big, so she began to walk. She walked and walked and then everything got out of control.
Maggie had started hiking, she figured at some point she’d get to a small town in the middle of nowhere. That is what she needed. Somewhere no one else knew existed, there she would be safe in a town Daniel would never think to look for her. Things had gone from bad to worse in those woods though, the growling started up behind her and she ran for her life from some kind of wild animal. The last thing she heard before the world went dark was the snarl of some kind of monster. When she woke up, she was on Keira’s couch, a deep pain running through her. Maggie had been transformed into a werewolf, but even more than that she had become Mackenzie Blackwood. Kiera explained about werewolves and the supernatural it was difficult Kenz didn’t know where she was or if she was safe. She spoke with Kiera for hours until she at least began to understand began to feel the first inkling of safety. She cried and shook with fear as she told her of Daniel and her running. Keira said she’d be safe, but Kenz is still scared all the time. She’s nervous and doesn’t know much yet. She’s looking for answers.
Kenz is staying with Kiera for now as she finds her way. She often goes to the bookshop and has started slowly exploring the town searching for answers and trying to get to know her new life. She’s scared, confused, and needs friends. She still reacts with fear and flinches whenever people get too close. She’s never known what a kind gentle love is and she’s only starting to learn with her pack.
QUESTIONNAIRE
❦ Is your character aware of the supernatural?
Yes. Kenz only recently became aware of the supernatural recently after being bitten. Kenz is still learning about all the supernatural and can often be found walking around town looking for new answers
❦ How do you feel about the other species in town?
Kenz has taken to the natural witches spending a lot of the time in their shop, the Broomcloset, lately. She is hoping to go to one of their celebrations. Kenz has found that she has a deeper appreciation for nature since becoming a wolf, although she doesn’t fully understand it yet. She is exploring the town and the other species as well. She’s a bit surprised by how cruel and aloof the other pack in town it. It makes her feel even more grateful for Kiera. Kenz hasn’t met many Sirens, but she thinks they sound very interesting. She hasn’t met many vampires either. If she’s honest she hasn’t met many people at all yet. She’s excited to get to know her new home better.
❦ How do you feel about the rising tension in town?
Kenz is highly protective of her pack. She’s never had people care for her before and it’s something she wants, no, needs to protect. However, Kenz is still traumatized and tends to lash out when she feels threatened. The rising tension has made her scared and unstable, she’s still haunted by her past.
❦ How do you feel about the murder of the regent witch keeping the peace over the town?
Kenz didn’t really understand what was going on when the High Priestess was murdered. She only came into town shortly after the murder occurred. She was only found by Kiera two weeks ago having been turned by an unknown wolf. All Knez knows is that Kiera is sad about the murder and so Kenx’s sad about it as well.
❦ Who are your loyalties to?
The Mitchell pack. Kenz would do anything for Kiera. She’s her alpha and took her in after she was bitten and confused. She’d do anything for her pack mates as well. She has deep loyalty to the entire pack and would fight for all of them even if she doesn’t know all of them yet or why.
KENZ BLACKWOOD is portrayed by INDIA EISLEY and is TAKEN
