mom
contains: angst, mentions of death, cancer.

“losing a parent is hard. especially when they’ve been slowly dying around you.”
july 20, 2023
location: Boston, Massachusetts
————
kodie had recently given ryan a chance to be her friend, so she had been sat with ryan, gabe, and will, gabe had been visiting, after being in chicago for a while.
everyone but ryan, knew her mom has cancer. she still refused to tell him, she could barely trust him, yet.
leaning her head back against the bed bored in wills room, a room she’s been in many times, either just them or ryan and gabe tagging along.
all of the boys were laughing, over some stupid comment one of them made. she didn’t care, she wasn’t gonna laugh at something that stupid.
“ko, your phone.” will hit her knee gently. kodie groaned, grabbing her phone from him and answering the call. “hello?” she asked. waiting for the caller to speak.
the news she heard next broke her, her mom was in the hospital, on life support. “um i gotta go.” kodie grabbed her shoes. “kodie what’s wrong?” gabe asked.
“my mom… she’s, um, she’s in the hospital.” kodies hands shook as she slipped her shoes on. “kodie you can’t drive like this, let me take take you.” will grabbed her hand.
“uh yea, yea..” kodie nodded, sliding her other shoe on. “i got you.” will wrapped an arm around her, sliding his slides on, and helping her walk downstairs. ryan and gabe followed after.
each having there shoes on. and getting into wills car, will helped kodie into the passengers seat, making sure she buckled her seatbelt.
————
rushing into the hospital, will checked kodie in, and him, ryan, gabe, stayed in the waiting room in the ICU floor.
kodie was rushing down hallways trying to find the room her mom was in, stopping at the room, ICU 510, she opened the door. being met with her dad and her two older brothers, john and casey.
casey grabbed her hand, pulling her to him. “i’m so sorry, kodie. i know you’ve always been a mamas girl, you shouldn’t be here, tell her you love her and leave. you can’t watch.” casey is the oldest, nearly 26, john is 23.
kodie shook her head, she wanted to be here when her mom took her last breath. “kodie..” casey rubbed her back. “no. i’m gonna be here.” kodie nodded, walking her to her mom.
she placed a kiss to her forehead, squeezing her hand. “i love you, mama… i’ll miss you so much. thank you, for everything.” kodie whispered, backing away, as the doctor walked in.
“okay, it’s time.” she sighed, walking over to the machine. “i’m sorry.” she said, pulling the plug. “time of death, 19:17.” she wrote down.
kodie, immediately, ran out of the room, and to the waiting room, where she ran to will. “she’s gone…” she told him. will gave her a frown, standing up and hugging her, tight.
the contact made her sob, she started sobbing violently. gabe joined the hug, hugging from the right side.
ryan didn’t know if he should… but he decided to. even though he didn’t understand what happen, he joined the hug.
each whispering their own apologies, to her. they each knew how much her mom meant to her, she’s always loved her mom like anything. her favorite person.

It’s only been a week since Gabe and Molly had last seen their boyfriend, and they were already missing him like crazy. The two weeks they were able to spend with him - cuddling 24.7, going and watching Gabe’s games, playing Mario Kart - were the best two weeks the three have ever experienced. But now, Four Nations has ended and the season is back in full swing, finishing the last two months before playoffs.
The same could be said for Gabe, after playing three games since Will went back to San Jose, it’s finally his last one of the season, or at least for the regular season. Molly has shown her endless support for both of them, sporting both her Perreault and Smith jerseys like they were permanently attached to her, but she knew that both of them wanted the other two to be there too.
Which is why, Will convinced his coach to healthy scratch him from tonight’s game so he could watch Gabe’s final game of the regular season and cheer him on from the stands. It had taken a lot of talking and a lot of persuading but Will pulled it off and now here he was, sitting next to Molly in Conte Forum as they watched BC play Merrimack, both of them wearing Gabe’s jersey proudly.
Will had always been one for surprises, whether it was the one surprising someone or the one being surprised, it seemed to be a constant thing in his life and this was just another one to add to the list. He had planned to tell his boyfriend he was coming, but holding out the little piece of information was worth seeing his face.
“I can’t believe you’re here.” Molly’s voice was soft but he could recognize it anywhere.
Will turned to grin at her, kissing her head, “Me neither, but I’m so happy I’m here… with you.”
As much as the three loved spending time together, they enjoyed the little moments that were shared just between two of them. For Molly and Will in particular, it was moments like these, where they could just stare at each other and share little bits and pieces of their day without having to worry about anything else, it was just the two of them.
“I love you.” The confession caught her off guard, but it made her grin widely, leaning over to kiss him.
“I love you too.”
゚+*:୨୧:*﹤
The two were too excited to stand around in the arena any longer, so with a quick text to Ryan the two made their way outside and started making up a random handshake as they waited for their boyfriend.
They got halfway through their mostly confusing handshake when they heard voices and footsteps coming from behind him. Molly was quick to usher Will behind the wall, grinning like a fool as she rocked back and forth on her feet, watching as Gabe and his teammates walked closer.
Gabe came to a stop in front of her, placing his hands on her hips, “Hi baby.”
“Hi.” She continued smiling, placing a few kisses across his face before pulling away.
“What’s got you so smiley, hm?”
“I have a surprise for you.”
He raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips, “Oh yeah? And what’s this surprise you got for me? Chocolate? A sweatshirt that you’ve stolen from me? Or a-”
“Gabe! Shut up and let me show you.”
He laughed, allowing her to lead her wherever she was going, covering his eyes with his free hand, “Tell me when I can open them.”
They stopped further down and Will’s hand replaced Molly’s but Gabe didn’t even seem to flinch at the sudden change of temperatures. He tapped his foot impatiently, groaning slightly, “Molls c’mon. Don’t leave me hanging here, baby.”
“Okay okay, open them!”
When he did, his eyes found Molly almost immediately and looked at her slightly confused, “I don’t see a surprise here, sweetheart.”
But it didn’t take long for him to put the pieces together when he noticed that he was standing to his right but his left hand was still holding onto something. He glanced to his side and his mouth dropped open at the sight of his boyfriend, “What’re you doing here? Don’t you have a game?”
Will gave him a boyish grin, bouncing excitedly on his feet, “I might’ve convinced coach to scratch me.”
“You are insane, William.” Despite his words, he brought him into a hug, holding him tightly.
Molly squeezed herself into the middle of them, wanting nothing more than to be sandwiched between her two favorite people. The two let her wedge her way in, hugging her even tighter than they had hugged each other.
Will Smith’s surprises were Gabe and Molly’s favorite thing in the universe… well third favorite thing in the universe.

𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧ʷˢ²
in which will's arm becomes your canvas in the moments you need it most.
warnings; anxiety, bullying (pre-school), BRIEF mention of parents fighting, but other than that, pure fluff. if you can think of others, please don't hesitate to let me know!
You had met Will Smith in pre-school. On the first day that you had stepped inside the classroom, you had been captivated by his blond hair and blue eyes. His hair had been neatly cut, safely tucked behind his ears, while his eyes matched perfectly with his charming smile. Even at four years old, he had you wrapped around his finger.
You didn't get the chance to talk to him, however, until the winter of that school year. You had always been the anxious type, finding it hard to reach out and speak to your classmates. So, you didn't. Ultimately, that led to a group of boys catching you on the slide, alone, during recess one day. It was a typical Massachusetts day for that time of year - a white blanket of snow enveloped the state, and the ice on the ground was as smooth as glass. But in that moment, none of that had mattered. A brown-haired boy in the group had approached first, asking the question everyone wanted to know the answer to.
"Why don't you talk?"
Those words stung. It wasn't like you didn't want to. It just felt like your mouth was zipped shut and someone had thrown out the key to unlock it every time you tried to speak.
So, naturally, you didn't answer.
A few moments later, another boy stepped forward, "Aww, is the little baby too afraid to speak?"
You took a deep breath, trying to gather yourself, but it was clear that you weren't going to get out of this one easily. Despite your observation, you carefully hopped off of the slide you were perched on and turned your back to the boys as you attempted to walk away. You had only made it a few steps when you felt a hard shove from behind - one that made you fall face first onto the ground. Your face burrowed itself into the thick layer of snow that had blanketed the ground, the cold powder stinging your face. You tried to burrow into the safety of your heavy winter coat, but not even that worked.
You could hear the muffled laughs of the boys behind you, one shouting, "Mute freak!" and the other shouting, "Scaredy-cat!" Suddenly, however, a third voice had joined the conversation. The voice was both recognizable and unrecognizable to you, both comforting yet oddly familiar. That was enough for you to gather the strength to look up from the ground.
"Leave her alone!"
It was Will.
His neatly-trimmed blond hair had grown shaggy over time, the wisps of it curling at the nape of his neck. A white winter hat was covering the rest, but you could almost see the way it was curled at the top of his head. A flame of anger was dancing in his usually icy blue eyes, and his smile was no longer charming, only frustrated.
He shoved the two boys back, but not hard enough for them to fall to the ground. That didn’t matter, however. Will had the upper hand - he had a few inches on both of the boys, which meant that in their eyes, he towered over them. Without any other words being spoken, the two boys ran off in fear, occasionally looking back only to find Will glaring at them as he carefully walked over to you.
As he approached you, he offered a compassionate smile, one that would’ve made you feel better if your face wasn’t going numb from the snow. He grabbed your hands and helped you sit up, his gloved hands immediately going to gently brush the snow off of your face.
You flinched in surprise, but the soft material felt comforting against your rosy cheeks. He glanced at you as if to ask if it was okay for him to continue, and you nodded softly. Once he was done, he wiped his snow-covered gloves on the material of his puffy coat - no doubt one his mom made him wear - and offered a gentle hand to help you up off of the ground.
“I’m William, but I go by Will,” he smiled, his hand lingering in yours until he knew for sure that you were safely off of the ground. When he let go, your hands immediately went to fumble with the hem of your hoodie in both anxiety and relief.
You weren’t sure what, but something washed over you, and timidly yet undoubtedly, you raised your voice.
“I’m Y/N.”
And that was the first time you talked to one of your classmates. That classmate just happened to be Will Smith.
As the year went on, you and Will grew inseparable. He continued to be the only classmate you talked to, but he didn't seem to mind. Everyone around you wondered why Will received your special treatment, but the truth of the matter was that he was the only one who made you feel safe. He never judged you for your anxiety, but instead welcomed it because even at four years old, he knew it was apart of you.
Later in spring, you were having a particularly bad day when Will handed you a pack of markers. He had recently turned five, a milestone you were still waiting on, and he received the package of colored ink as one of his gifts. He opened the table's cubby to reveal some coloring books, but as he placed them down, he felt your hand grab his wrist.
Without a word, you had taken the cap off of a light blue marker and began drawing a flower on his skin. Will hesitated for a moment, but when he took sight of your face, he could see the way your eyes visibly drained of worry as you traced the ink. So, naturally, he continued to let you do it.
Little did you know that that tradition would last for fourteen years.
Even at 19, the tradition of drawing on Will’s skin had become second nature, something neither of you ever questioned anymore. He constantly had markings on his skin from you, but he didn’t mind. It was a quiet way for you to find your balance in waves of emotions and for him to remind you that you were never alone.
It had been a long day for you. You had come over after a family dinner that had left your nerves frayed, your usual quietness amplified to the point that Will could tell something was wrong the second you walked in. Now, hours later, you sat on his bed, your legs cocooned into your chest as if that would provide you with any sense of comfort. Your mind was racing with more bad thoughts than good. The faint glow of “Ratatouille” illuminated the room through the screen of Will’s laptop, but neither of you seemed too interested.
Will glanced at you, catching the way your knees were pulled up to your chest, your fingers picking at the hem of your sweatshirt like they had the first time he met you. Without a word, he reached over to his desk, opened his top drawer, and grabbed the same pack of markers that had been sitting there since you were kids — the ones he had received for his 5th birthday — and held them out to you.
You glanced up at him slowly, your eyes meeting his blue ones. The flames of worry dancing in them almost matched the yellow marker you had grabbed from him. Will leaned back against his headboard, watching you through half-lidded eyes. “You’ve been quiet tonight,” he said softly, his voice breaking the silence but not the calm.
With the marker in your hand, you forced arm down until his wrist was stretched out in your lap. You were focused, your brow furrowed in that familiar way as you worked on filling the empty space of his skin with tiny, intricate designs.
You didn’t look up, the marker stilling for only a second before continuing its careful strokes. “Just thinking,” you murmured, the words barely audible over the scratch of ink against his skin. Will sighed softly, gently grabbing your chin with his free hand to get you to look at him.
“About what?”
You hesitated, your hand pausing again. Your eyes flickered up to meet his, and for a moment, you looked like you might change the subject. But then you sighed and went back to drawing, your voice low, “Dreams, I guess. The future. If my parents stop fighting. If I’ll ever feel… well, less like this.”
Will didn’t need to ask what this meant. He’d been your best friend long enough to know—this was the restlessness, the anxiety, the weight you carried in moments like these. Hell, it was the weight you carried all the time. He watched as you traced another flower on his wrist, your hand steady despite the storm you clearly felt inside.
His heart broke, but he didn’t falter.
“You will,” he said simply, the steadiness in his voice making you chuckle slightly.
Your lips curved into the faintest smile, but it didn’t quite reach your eyes, “You make it sound easy.”
Will smiled softly, the compassion he’d always held for you radiating through him, “It’s not. But you’ll get there,” he said, leaning forward just enough so that your knees touched. “And until then, you can keep putting your dreams on me.” He tilted his head, gesturing toward the growing garden of flowers and stars you were creating.
You let out a soft laugh, the sound warming the room. It was the first time Will had heard you laugh all day, “Dreams?“
Will shook his head, his grin small but sincere, “These are the outlines of what’s in your head, Y/N/N — your dreams, your worries, all of it. You’ve been doing it since we were five years old.”
You laughed, your eyes meeting his again, “But what makes you think they’re my dreams?”
“They constantly change,” he explained, a wisp of his blond curls falling in front of his eyes. He looked exactly like the four year old you had met on the playground that winter day. “When we were six, you drew rocket ships because all you wanted was to be an astronaut. And when we were 11, I constantly had drawings of cats and dogs on my wrists because you wanted to be a veterinarian. And last year, you drew the Boston College logo over and over again because you wanted me to be happy at B.C.”
“And what about my worries?”
“They remain more steady, but I don’t mind carrying them for awhile,” he whispered softly, brushing a strand of your hair behind your ear.
Your marker stilled, and for a moment, you just looked at him, your chest feeling a little lighter in a way only Will could manage. Then, with a soft smile, you added one last detail to the sunflower you’d been working on—a tiny heart at the center.
“You’re so corny,” you said, placing his arm back in his lap.
Will smirked, lifting it to admire your work, “And you’re the one who just drew a heart. Who’s corny now?”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the quiet laugh that slipped out. You tucked your legs under you, leaning back against the headboard beside him. He might’ve been corny, but he meant more to you than you could ever know,“You’ll always be my favorite sketchbook, you know.”
Will nudged your shoulder lightly, the marker still in his other hand, “And you’ll always be a flower on my skin.”
Neither of you said anything else after that, the room settling into a comfortable silence. But the outlines of your dreams stayed etched on Will’s arm, just like they always would.
a/n; this might be one of my favorite works that i’ve ever written. i hope you guys enjoyed this as much as i did!

NTDP was different, like joining any new team, but it was a bunch of up and coming players to get drafted higher in the draft, it’s basically just development.
playing against the tri-city storm, at home. it wasn’t the first game against them, last time it was an away game.
being on home ice was definitely different than away games. the crowd was just different, although it was technically the same thing, but it felt different.
still, she stayed on the same line in between will and ryan. it kinda drove her insane, but the line didn’t matter, all she wanted to do is play hockey.
stepping into the ice and taking her final shift of the second period. ryan and will following behind her.
she skated across the ice, down to their own end. trying to grab the puck from an opposing player.
only to trip over the stick, causing her to fall into the boards, smashing her arm, and falling onto it.
she heard a loud crack in her arm, she leaned her head back, clutching her arm with her other arm.
the whistle sounded loudly in her ears. the trainer walked over to her. “hey, what’s going on?” he asked. “i think i broke my arm…” kodie squinted her eyes. “okay let’s get you checked out.”
he helped her up and they skated off the ice and down the tunnel, where she would later be taken to the hospital, for x-rays, which determinedshe had a break in her arm.

January 31, 2021
walking into the rink, her arm in a sling, and going to stand behind the bench, even though she couldn’t practice, she still wanted to watch.
ryan skated over to the bench. “hey… i’m sorry about your arm.” ryan said. “no your not.” kodie sighed, no way in hell ryan actually felt bad for her.
“no, i’m really sorry…” ryan shook his head. “you have to stop trying to care. we both know you don’t. you never have.” kodie crossed her feet.
ryan looked at her, before looking down. “yea whatever.” he took a drink from his water, before skating away.
she knew he never cared, so why would he care know? he doesn’t. that’s the short answer, and he never will.

new york
contains: fluff, cussing
summary: gabe moves to new york, starting his nhl career, and setting up daycare for genny. only to meet a girl who he’d fall in love with.
notes: first fic with gwen 😛😛
“i started a new chapter today.”
march 31, 2025
location: New york city, New York
————
new york is definitely different from boston and illinois, he wouldn’t lie, he would definitely rather be home with his mom, his dad, having an extra pair of hands around to help him with his two year old.
gabe walked into his new apartment, holding genevieve in his arms, suitcase in the other hand. as he entered the elevator. gabe pressed the button 4. genevieve leaned her head against gabe’s shoulder.
gabe kissed her head, as the elevator stopped and they walked out, and two their new apartment, a two bedroom, two bathroom, apartment, number 4B.
luckily, gabe’s mom had came down and set up the furniture and put it in the rooms. gabe was so grateful for her, she’s been his rock the whole time.
gabe set genevieve down, she learned how to walk when she was almost a year old, gabe had bought things to baby proof the whole house.
gabe kept a careful eye on her while he put the suit cases inside the room. “genny, no.” gabe quickly grabbed her, she almost ran straight into the table.
genevieve gave a small frown. “i’ve got practice, let’s get you down to day care.” gabe bounced her gently, making sure the key was in his pocket before opening the door.
gabe pressed the lobby button, standing back into the elevator. waiting for the doors to open before following the daycare sign, and stopping at the small desk there.
“hi, i’m gwen. how can i help you?” gwyneth asked, gabe noticed the shirt she was wearing, a montréal canadians shirt. “uh, do u have to like sign up to drop my daughter off or…” gabe trailed, setting genevieve down.
“well, we have a program where you can sign up for, but that’s only for long term use, but if it’s just today, we’ll be happy to take her off your hands.” gwyneth smiled. “so, if i wanna sign up for the long term program, can you still take her?” gabe asked.
“yes of course, let me grab the form.” gwyneth nodded, reaching behind her and grabbing the form. “once you sign up, you’ll be able to receive emails and updates for our schedule.” she sat the clipboard down.
gabe nodded. “thank you.” “of course.” gwyneth smiled. gabe quickly filled the form out, giving it back. “okay, and we do you think you’ll be back?” gwyneth asked. “um, i don’t know. only a few hours..” gabe said.
“okay.” gwyneth opened the small door by the side, getting a site of the small girl. “hi, what’s your name?” she asked, crouching down. “you can tell her.” gabe said softly. “genny!” she smiled. “hi genny, my names gwen. how old are you?” gwyneth smiled.
“two!” “she’s almost, two.” gabe corrected. gwyneth hummed. “well, genny, let’s get you set up.”

“i’ll miss you more than you know”
july 1, 2023
location: Chicago, illinois
————
he rushed to the hospital, going go the front desk and checking in with them, before going up to the maternity floor and checking in withthe doctors there, and getting into a suit like paper towel thing, a mask and gloves.
he walked into the hospital room, “i’m here.. i promise.” gabe grabbed her hand, squeezing it tight. “thank god.” she groaned. “i’m sorry, i am. traffic and packing… im here now.” gabe brushed her hair out of her face.
“it’s okay, baby.. just you being here is good enough.” she leaned her head back, closing her eyes. gabe gave her a slight smile, tightly holding her hands.
“alright, mama.. i’m just gonna check to see if you’re dilated.” the doctor announced, walking into the room. “i see dads here, how are you today?” she asked, pulling a chair.
“uh… i’m good.. kinda nervous..” he tapped his foot. “i get it, im a mom myself.. it was the hardest thing in my life, but i had my husband. she’s glad you could be here.” she sat down.
“yea, me too.” gabe nodded, leaning his head down. the doctor checked her. “okay mia, we’ve got some blockage here…” she sighed. “what’s that mean?” mia’s heart raised. “calm down.. it could be worse… we’re just gonna have to do an emergency c-section.” she backed away.
“what?” gabe asked. “it’s just a cut to the stomach, we’ll remove the baby, and you won’t be aloud in the room, so you’ll have to wait. we’ll come get you as soon as we’re down.” she nodded, hooking mia up to a different mechanic to be able to roll her to the surgical room.
gabe just stared at her, heavily confused. “gabe i’ll be fine.” she squeezed his hand. “yea, okay…” gabe nodded. “i love you.” she smiled. “love you more.” gabe laid a kiss on her head, walking to the waiting room, like he was told.
he took off all the stuff the doctor had him put on, now just sitting in regular clothes, he pulled his phone out of his pocket, texting his mom, just as mia’s mom walked in.
“why aren’t you in there with her?” she asked, harshly. “i can’t be… she’s having an emergency c-section.” gabe explained. her mom never liked him. he didn’t understand, but he didn’t talk about it.
she huffed, taking the seat furthest away from gabe. he didn’t mind, he didn’t want her bitching in his ear the whole time.

a few hours later, the nurse came back, she walked over to gabe, a sad expression on her face, she gently tapped him on the shoulder.
gabe looked up at her, smiling big, he knew he’d be able to meet his baby soon. “i’m so sorry… but, mia didn’t make it.” she whispered to him. “..what?” gabe asked, his smile dropping, tears perking in his eyes.
“your daughter made it, but mia didn’t… something when wrong after surgery.. i am so sorry..” she gently rubbed his arm.
gabe looked defeated, he knew that her mom overheard, but he couldn’t bother to move. he sat frozen, his girlfriend had just died, his whole world crashing down on him.
“we have a therapist you can talk to, if you want. i can show you back to your daughter.” she felt terrible. he was just a kid, and his whole life has just changed.
“oh yea.. i wanna see her.” gabe nodded, standing up. she gave a soft smile, showing him to where his daughter was.
gabe gently picked her up, supporting her head. “hi genny, you look just like your mom.” he whispered, looking at her small hands and the way her fingers curled around.
————
gabe was in there for an hour, before he could take her home, usually they’d have to stay in the hospital, but they didn’t. given no reason.
gabe carried her out, ignoring mia’s mom, knowing she’d just blame him for everything. and she’d yell at him when he comes back from new york. for the week, genny was his moms child.
when he comes back, he’s gonna make sure he takes care of her, she’s coming to boston with him, he had already gotten an apartment, and set up all her doctors appointments, and everything.
the drive home was quiet, no mia to play music, sing her heart out, only him and the sounds of genevieve mumbling.

“you never wanna see the ones you love hurt, but sometimes you chat control it.”
january 27, 2025
location: SAP Center, San Jose, California
————
playing against the penguins for the final time this season, they took the ice at the sap center. skating through the shark head, they’d skated through every home game this season.
stepping into the ice and skating around at the sound of the first period beginning, taking the opening face off of the game, she skated to the middle of the ice, at the face off dot.
she listened to the ref, listing things off as they always do, a normal start to a normal game, the only face off was against sidney crosby, someone she looked up to growing up.
she won the opening face off, hitting it back, which macklin had caught on his stick, this time will was on their line.
skating into the pens zone, as macklin passed her the puck, she passed it to will, a triangle of them just passing back and forth, before one of shooting and the pens getting the back after and their line being called off after a few minutes,
scooting down the bench, in between will and macklin, she leaned forward, following the game. macklin nudged his knee with hers, the slightest bit of contact which meant more than anything to both of them.
indigo looked at him, giving a slight smile, nudging his knee back. the slightest comfort for them both.
————
starting the second period the same way, this time the pens won the face off, skating down to their own zone.
pushing past a pens defender, she caught the puck on her stick, failing to make a pass to her teammate, the puck getting too sidney crosby.
luckily he missed the shot, and the game continued. she skated over to bryan rust and checked him into the boards, both falling to the ground.
rust’s skates flicked up, catching indigo in the face, blood gushed down from her face. rust stood up looking at her, he looked over, hearing the whistle sound.
macklin stood frozen on the ice, just looking at her, watching as blood poured down from her face, to the ice.
macklin shook his head, skating over to her, as the trainers stepped on the ice. “hey, hey, look at me.” macklin placed his hand on her face, trying ti stop the blood. she looked at him, she felt the ache in her face.
the trainer made it over to them. “what happened?” he asked. “uh, i, she made a check and the skate blade caught her in the face.” he stutter out. “okay, let’s get her off the ice…” he nodded, moving macklin’s hand off her face, his glove was covered in blood, he placed the towel in return.
“come on, chand,” the trainer, he helped her stand up. macklin immediately followed, wrapping his arm around her, helping her skate to the bench, and step up and out to the locker room.
macklin cant go back, so he stood there, watching as his girlfriend was taken to the locker room, and most likely to the hospital.
“hey, celebrini. take a break.” coach said. “your benching me?” he asked. “no, i’m not. you need a break, just take it.” coach tapped his shoulder.
“right sorry.” macklin nodded, sitting down on the bench.
————
macklin quickly showered and changed and went to the trainers office, he didn’t knock, he just opened it and didn’t see indigo. “where is she?” macklin asked.
“we took her to the hospital. she’s gonna be okay, macklin. i promise you. she’s gonna miss a few weeks, but other than that she’s fine, she’ll need your help though, you gotta make sure she doesn’t eat solids for the first few days, and then slowly work up to them. her face is gonna be sore, she has stitches, so she’ll be a little muffled when she talks, so be patient.” the trainer told him.
“thank you,” macklin nodded, walking out to meet will. “she’s at the hospital.” macklin said. “i’ll drive come on.” will opened the door to the back of the arena.
both getting into the car and starting the drive to the hospital, it wasn’t a long drive, the hard part was finding parking.
as soon as will parked, macklin was jumping out of the car and walking inside to the hospital, will following behind.
“what’s the problem today?” the front desk women asked. “we’re here to see indigo chandler.” macklin tapped his thigh. “are you family?” she asked, typing on the computer. “yes.” macklin nodded. “alright, room 308.” she handed them both visitor passes.
the two walked to the elevator and clicked floor three. “you lied.” will said straight up. “she’ll never know, his fine.” macklin shrugged, stepping off the elevator and the two walked to the room.
the door was slightly opened, macklin opened the door, walking to indigo. “hey baby.” macklin kissed her head, rubbing her arm. “hi.” her voice was muffled.
“i’m right here, im not going anywhere.” macklin shook his head. “i’m fine.” she promised. “you scared the fuck out of me, lay lay. im so sorry.” macklin gripped her hand. indigo sighed. “you couldn’t have done anything, i’ll be fine.” she gripped his hand.
will gave a smile to them, he liked seeing his friends happy. they deserved it. “glad to see your doing good, indy.” will nodded.
indigo gave him a thumbs up, truly, she felt like she was dying. the pain meds weren’t working that well, but having them with her made it better.
