Video Game Review Scale
This scale is built purely from my own opinions. As with everything in life, take this with a grain of salt. We may see eye to eye on some things but you, the reader, may naturally not agree with some things. That’s perfectly normal!
1. Absolute Garbage! “Story? We were supposed to put a story in this thing?” “You mean players were supposed to be able to actually play the game?” “We weren’t supposed to steal assets from another, I’m looking at you Limbo of the Lost, game?” Nothing at this level on the scoring list could ever be considered a game. The fact that it was even reviewed was to save you the trouble of even thinking about “playing” this trash heap. Save your money!
2. Almost Alright. This execution of this game was poor. Story is there but it’s a mess. Graphics are there but either inconsistent or disgusting to look at. You can tell the studio attempted to make something but ultimately failed. Check it out if you are into that sort of thing.
3. I’ve Had Better. There are a couple of things that shine above the muck on this one. There will be something to enjoy here even if it’s for a fleeting moment. Games of this caliber could have been better if they were shown a bit more love. Try to find something to love here if you purchase it, otherwise stay away.
4. Passable. Most things make you think this is a game but it’s held back by one or two massive failings. It’s worth a purchase when on a deep sale or if you find it covered by dust at a yard sale. Not memorable!
5. A Gentle Let Down. This is your most average of average games. Nothing amazing to write home about in any department, yet nothing to really get super pissed over. It’s just a game. Pick this one up on sale or if you are extremely bored.
6. Almost There. Through the flaws and the flames, there is a game deep down in there worth enjoying. Storytelling might be a mess but the game-play is on point. Game-play might be a mess but the main character is wonderfully written. There is something off about these games but there is also something to enjoy. Add it to a wish list and wait for it to drop in price.
7. Above Average. This is by no means a horrible game. There might be a couple things holding it back from perfection but there will certainly be something here that you can fall deeply in love with. Check this game out and keep your eyes open for a sequel down the road.
8. Flawlessly Flawed. This is a great game to have in your collection. Not everything will fire on every cylinder but you would be hard pressed to pass up this opportunity. Not for everyone, but a highly recommended day one purchase.
9. Wonderful Experience! Every twist and turn of the story, though not perfect or original, kept the players attention. The game play was stellar and world building was on point. This game may not be for everyone, but it’s a damn good ride. Highly recommended to add to a top list or collection.
10. Gaming Perfection! Storytelling like none other before it. Graphics that not only sell the experience but are setting the bar at another level. Sound design that melts in your ears. A world that blows you away the moment you set eyes on it. Character design and history richer than those before it. This game will be talked about for years and other games will always strive to be like, or better than this.

New Frontier
With this being my first post on this platform, I hope to drive home what I plan to do with this page. I would also like to fill out a touch of my history so those on this site will get an understanding of who I am, what I do and why I do it. Come with me on this introduction into myself and, hopefully, the future of KenMastersGamingReviews whatever this is.
Mediocre Upbringings
I, like many others of my generation, started gaming at a very early age. My first console was a Super Nintendo Entertainment System and it came with a single game. That game was ActRaiser 2 and it blew my little mind at the time. The side scrolling combat, magic casting and gliding mechanic was amazing to me. The only problem is that I never made it past the first level. That plant boss at the end of the first portion of the game frustrated me to no end and I loved it. As I grew older, my mother would see to it that myself and my brother had the Nintendo 64, Playstation and eventually Playstation 2. We also had a plethora of Nintendo GameBoy games on hand, so it’s easy to say she is fully at fault for how I ended up today.
By the time I moved out on my own to face the world, I had already collected my own consoles. That list includes the NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation and a Playstation 2. I had begun to snap up consoles left and right to start working on my Street Fighter collection but ended up letting that turn into a monster as I dove into different games on each system. There are, to this day, games that I have purchased on those old systems that I have never gotten the chance to play and I hope to fix that.
As I sit here and write this out, my current collection of gaming systems include those mentioned previously as well as the Xbox 360, Xbox One X, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo WiiU, Nintendo Switch and finally my personal Gaming computer with an Nvidia GTX 1060 currently installed. I have an army of gaming systems as well as games at my fingertips and an impressive amount of time to kill.
“Surely it’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it”
“That’s fine an all Ken, but what do you plan on doing here?” I can hear none of you asking. Don’t worry, I’ll answer the question anyway. Over the past 3+ years I have taken a trip down a very scary road. I dropped out of college and quit my job practically back to back to take a shot at a dream. That dream is full-time streaming over on Twitch.tv and I have seen a mixture of success and complete failure over the years. To say the least, it’s been one hell of a ride.
While I was in college I was on the campus newspaper and ended up with some very dull jobs. Cover this Basketball game, Write on some of the groups on campus, Interview this person and so on. All of the work handed to me was boring and dull but it did allow me to get some time in with my writing skills. Whether or not those skills are any good is up for debate.
With my time here on Tumblr, I hope to work on writing up video game reviews on games from the past as well as games that are coming out currently. It’s probably going to be a rough process as I have not had a chance to work on my criteria for what makes a game a 10 and what would make a game a 1 on any sort of scale.
So Where Do We Start?
Now that I have the hard part out of the way, it’s time to start prepping for down the road. I hope to use this as a place to converse about video gaming as a whole, while also doing reviews. I want to end this by saying thank you for making it this far. If any of you have questions or suggestions on what I should write, feel free to comment in the area it allows you to comment in. Otherwise, thank you for your time and I hope to see you back again.
