i always keep my movie tickets. And theater tickets. I don’t understand why people don’t. Yes, you may see the movie again, or you may never see the movie again, but either way, you have this little piece of paper with the name, date, and time printed on it. It’s like a memory receipt. 

I fucking love tickets.

Despite being best friends with one Thea Saltzman, Talen could never say she was overly close with either of the first set of twins. That said, she’d learned enough about Lizzie over the years to know she wasn’t incredibly into video games, of any sort really, and the wolf was shocked she was even feigning interest in her task. Especially when she’d offered the out of distraction. “It’s the newest Pokémon game. Already beat it, but I’m working to build up an all canine team for the post story gameplay.”

Rowan knew how it felt to look be exhausted. And today he was lucky enough to have it together. When she turned towards him, he raised an eyebrow, closing the notebook he had in front of him. “First off, try this.” He smiled softly, handing her a paper bag. Inside was a blueberry muffin. Originally it was for him, but downing a coffee in five minutes filled him up. “Helps get the energy levels up. I hate to say it, though I’ve gotten it, you look exhausted…”

There’s a beat before she took the bag, a small sniff revealing the muffin inside. Blueberry had always been her favorite, and Talen was more than willing to let this serve as a sign today would be a good day. At least she hoped. “You are a good man,” she uttered, taking a bite of the gifted baked good with a grin. It was even still the slightest bit warm. Setting aside her own notebook, and offering up another pitiful yawn, she couldn’t really find it to argue his observation. “Yeah, well...lack of sleep will do that to a person. Newfound insomnia.” Self inflicted, but she wasn’t quite ready to admit to that just yet.

“It’s okay to disturb me, Talen.” Caroline reminded her with a smile on her lips as she turned her head to look toward her. “No, I was just making sure that the new books and objects we got came in okay.”

The smile was mirrored, as she made a mental note of the sentiment. “Isn’t that technically my job? Not that I don’t mind a little help taking inventory, so long as I have plenty of space to get my geek on.” A joke, yes, but she did have a tendency to spread out quite a bit when it came to new shipments of books and artifacts. Helped with organization in the long run.

“Remind me which Pokemon those are again?” Hayley smiled to her goddaughter about it. She tried to do her best to keep up with all the Pokemon and which ones were which but with the games always changing or the Pokemon evolving it was hard to follow. She remembered Pikachu and that was about it. “I could distract you with a walk in the bayou. Can even try that Pokemon Go thing that I keep meaning to sign up for…”

“In order: fairy type dog, dark and fire type dog, and then rock type dog.” A grin tugged at her lips as she answered her godmother’s question. “As you can see, I’m going for a canine themed team this time around.” Talen knew Hayley wasn’t as in tune with the realm of Pokémon as she was, but the wolf queen still tried, and that was really all that mattered. “Not sure how well the game will work out there, but I’ll never say no to a walk with you. Especially by the bayou.”

The young tribrid was standing by herself just outside of the rain.  Her teeth chattering from the cold downpour.  She was trying to tell her legs to move but they weren’t listening to her.  She couldn’t believe that one of her best friends attacked her because of something as trivial as thinking that she had slept with her boyfriend.  She didn’t want anyone to see her like this so she wasn’t even thinking about going home.

Late night walks were just a small portion of her new routine. Avoiding sleep left several hours to be filled, and she’d found this to be a good way to clear her head. Never mind the rain, Talen had always preferred it over most other weather. She was also far more equipped for the downpour than the spotted redhead, leading her to quickly move to her side and shelter her beneath a now shared umbrella. “Hey, are you alright?” Then, shimmying out of her hoodie, “Put this on. We need to get you warmed up.”

“Oh no it’s fine i got it “ Wren called out sarcastically as she was walking and had pile of books that combined could weight more than her, but that’s not what she was worried about,what she didn’t want was the door coming to slam in her face or any of the books falling. “ Ok now, I need shots of whisky asap “ she laughed throwing the books off to the side 

“Ah!” An exclamation burst forth from the young woman, eyes going wide as she watched the other toss the books aside as though they were mere trash. It struck a nerve, one she suspected her fellow librarians would similarly feel. “Are you mad?!” A question delivered in a slightly higher pitch than was typical as Talen rushed over to pick up the poor texts.

She’d been up all night, her new normal of avoiding sleep to avoid her nightmares. Talen was discovering that her refusal to sleep had grown more and more difficult, her body wanting nothing more to give in to that relief she so needed. Hence why she’d spent the whole night playing the latest Pokémon release, and now found herself three cups of coffee deep into a strategizing session at the café. “I’ve been at this team building thing for hours, and I’ve still only nailed down Sylveon, Houndoom, and Lycanroc.” Normally not a stressor, but her exhaustion levels seemed to heighten everything. “Distract me, or help me. I’m begging.”

Ric was gathering his stuff from his office to make his way home for the night. It’d been a long day and he was ready to sleep. He looked up and saw a figure in the doorway. “Look, it’s been a long day and I just want to go home and see my wife. Can this wait until tomorrow?”

She hated to bother her boss on his way out, but her recent discovery didn’t feel like one to keep to herself. “I’m sorry, Dr. Saltzman, but I was cataloguing the artifacts-” something she did weekly, “And a couple of items were missing. I don’t want to assume theft, but those aren’t supposed to leave the library.”

Caroline kept thinking over and over about what Lizzie had told her and how she should talk to Alaric about it but didn’t know how when she promised Lizzie she would stay silent. “You can not sneak up on a vampire.” She told the person that walked up behind her as she stood in the Salvatore Boarding School library.

Talen froze as she was addressed, books stacked high in her arms. “Not trying to sneak up on ya, just trying not to disturb.” It wasn’t unusual for the wolf to hang around the school late at night. It offered the exact reprieve from students that she needed in order to reorganize the shelves and replace returned books. Currently she was on the latter. “Anything in particular you were looking for? I know this place like the back of my hand.”
