I LOVE IT! Literally I live in the middle of nowhere in a crazy beautiful jungle. My house is so small and perfect (and cleannn!!). I don't have electricity or water. The electricity is a little difficult. All day yesterday I had no electronics... I had no idea of time! Ahhh. But I really just need to adjust my sleep for when it's dark out. Everyone in my village is so great. Also, my neighbors have a lot of kids and it's so perfect to have them around... but not in my house :) When I moved in I already had a sofa, tables, bed, mattress, chairs, and blankets. My landlord literally went above and beyond to make sure I'm comfortable here. Also, when inquiring about a generator I was told he was trying to fix electricity for the entire village so I can have some. Yesterday I met a bunch of important people in the village. It is very spread out here. People don't live on top of each other like Foumbot. I freaking love it here! I'm so happy.

Aline the sweetest and best language trainer. She's going to meet me in Yaoundé to help me buy some stuff tomorrow! And a picture on the day I swore in with the Ambassador, Michael Hoza, and Director of the Peace Corps, Mark Orlic.

Today's my birthday. I've been in Yaoundé at the peace corps house next to the peace corps office. It's so nice, there is hot showers, tons of other volunteers and gooood food. I've been buying non perishables and stuff for my house and some other things before going to site tomorrow august 7th. I feel like I'm in a completely different world than Foumbot! I was told my house won't have electricity or running water, that my school has 100 students, my town has around 400 people, and we have no markets or shops so I have to buy eveything in the capital over a hour away. I'll see if this is the case when I get there. So crazy!! But it's been a great birthday and I'm so excited for my future in manguen 2! I love Cameroon.

Soap being made at school, moto man with a judo hoodie! (He had no idea), making lunch, the movie club I started, and a a poor goat. It's been a pretty hard weekend. I do feel more adjusted here but I feel like I always need to have my guards up to be careful. I couldn't go to the track because I guess some guys told Frances' host siblings that they wanted to beat us up. When asked why, they didn't even have an answer. Then today, my host mom was crying the entire day and I have no idea why either. Also, at the market today someone was unzipping my backpack when we were in a crowded area. I went to the market and bought her baby clothes (I think it should be here soon!!!) and a bunch of veggies. But on a better note... I placed intermediate low in French just after studying it for 5 weeks here!! I came in as novice low and knew no French. That's pretty exciting. I didn't expect to improve that much. But when I first got here I didn't understand or know how to do anything and now I feel like I get like maybe 20% and can communicate what I want to say (maybe not with perfect grammar and all though). Last week I began teaching. It's so much harder than I thought. You have to talk slow, entertain the students, take up the entire time, and actually teach them something. It does take awhile to plan it out. Also, the chocolate body soap I bought at the market makes me pretty happy! Also, I got a few used outfits at the market that will be interesting to teach in!

7-1-2017 Tonight I had to sit and do nothing while I watched a 14 year old kid get whipped with an electrical cord about 20 times and then his arm twisted behind his back until he cried. What did he do? Not fetch water. It really sucks. Afterwards I hugged him asked how he was. He told me that tomorrow he was going to find me a cat and bring it to me. (he knew I liked cats and always try to catch them). :( Other than that this week has been pretty occupied with watching people teach classes at the model school and actually teaching my first two classes. I'll write more about teaching next week but it's much harder than you would think. 5 weeks of training to go.....
