Sacramento Rapper Mozzy has been like the resurrection of Tupac Shakur for the Bay Area. There are plenty of underground rappers in the world, particularly in the Bay Area, but they do not usually reach much success. They usually just stay local.
Mozzy, however is becoming more and more noticeable to those from places other than the Bay Area. He writes his own music and his songs are all really down to earth. Though many rappers talk about thuggish and thug affiliated things in their music, Mozzy's music is not just some mumbo jumbo crap. He does not glorify the hood. He speaks about the struggles he went through but also talks about the life he wishes and plans to live. He uplifts.
Unlike many other artists, he does not really talk much about women. He does not have songs that sexualize women or disgrace them. Throughout many songs he drops a line or two about his daughter and how much he loves her. He is not afraid to be his true self. He does not need to be or try to be somebody he is not. He is making his own lane.
He has shot up charts out of nowhere and even landed on himself a song on the soundtrack of the chart breaking movie "Black Panther". In addition to the the song "Seasons" featuring Mozzy, Sijava and Reason on the soundtrack (which was created after the Movie was filmed", Mozzy also has a song that was used IN the movie.
Mozzy's song "Sleep Walkin" was used in the film. That song alone sets him apart from the rest of the underground rappers around. He talks about how the life he has lived haunts him. Life for him has been hard. He does not promote the violence or act like life in the hood is all roses and sunshine. It helps his audience relate better to him. Him being so honest and true to himself makes an audience want to promote and his music.

We already went through this situation once with Drake and Meek Mill. Meek Mill exposed Drake for using a ghostwriter on their song R.I.C.O. He vented all day on twitter and basically tried to end Drake's career. But it is Drake... he has such a loyal fan base that would never turn on him. Plus, he emerged with two diss tracks "Charged Up" and "Back to Back' that he actually DID write, and put all of that ghost writer nonsense to bed.
This year, Cardi B is facing the same scrutiny. She recently released the song "Be Careful" off of her album, "Invasion of Privacy." Later a video was found of a man by the name of Jordan Thorpe singing one of the verses to the song. Though that may seem fine and dandy, it was pointed out that the man singing the song in the video had posted said video BEFORE Cardi B had released her version. That led spectators to believe that she stole the song and they trashed her comments with nonsens.
Later it was revealed that Cardi B did in fact take Jordan Thorpe's lyrics but that she also credited him as a co writer on the song. She has no shame about getting help with writing her songs. She admits that she is not a pro when it comes to certain aspects of the music industry. She is also not really a hip hop head, so do the rules really apply to her?
The reason why most people in the hip hop community want to expose ghost writing is because it is looked down upon. Rap originally meant something. Nearly every song was praised on their lyricism. Lyricism is very important to the hip hop community. The words matter. Rap songs are usually about something that artist actually went through. They are supposed to be their REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES. So, for them to be talking about something that they have never been through is perceived to be very fake, phony.
Today the rap game is changing. Though Drake and Cardi were exposed, they did not fall off. It is becoming more and more acceptable to acquire help with the lyrics.

Though is not quite yet a beef, sometimes this is how things start and escalate. When millennial think of trap music artists, they think of artists from Atlanta including Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, TI, and future. None of these artists music are quite the same, but they still all fall in that category.
Earlier this week Gucci Mane posted a picture with the caption, "#FBF The Day I Invented Trap Music #Guwop aka #TheEvilGenius #1017Ceo." Clearly that hurt rapper T.I.'s ego a little because he felt the need to post a picture with the caption "Ok, so.... AGAIN for the slow ones in the back... August 19th,2003 Birth of Trap Muzik [T.I.'s Album] & Only fools dispute facts!!! FOH wit that Christopher Columbus ass... 'Look what I discovered, even though they was already here' ass shit!!!! WITCHO GOOD CAPPPIN [Lying] ASS." It is more than obvious that rapper Gucci Mane hit a nerve. Though, in my opinion, who created it does not matter, I we will need to know the true creator so that we have accurate information in our future history books.
I personally cannot say who is right and who is wrong. Everyone has there own opinion. Technically T.I. was the first person to hit the main stream media with the title of Trap Music. Of course that does not mean that Gucci Mane was not using the term before that though. It also could all be a misunderstanding. Like I said earlier, their music is quite differently when it comes to sonic. So, maybe Gucci Mane does not even think that his trap music is like T.I.'s trap music. Maybe he is indeed the creator of the sound he is speaking of. They just both happen to be calling their sounds the same thing..
Furthermore, let us hope that this minor disagreement does not turn into a major problem. It is petty enough that T.I. felt the need to respond on line with a hostile comment. Hopefully this does not lead to tension amongst the two. They have both been convicted of crimes involving guns, but hopefully this situation remains minor and civil.

This article is a perfect example of how society sees and treats him in the music industry. Cardi B recently unveiled her growing baby bump. Her and her fiancee Offset from the Migos are expecting a child this upcoming summer. Though many people had already come to that conclusion themselves, it was nice to see Cardi finally admit it.
Many media outlets had already suspected that Cardi was pregnant by the way she was dressing. Either she would wear something super baggy with layers of clothing or she would wear a dress with ruffles so that it was nearly impossible to be able to tell whether she was pregnant or not.
Once she finally announced it, everyone wondered why she trying to hide it. It seemed pointless to hide the pregnancy if she was going to be out in the public eye constantly. She revealed that it was because of the scrutiny. She is fairly new to the industry and she has not yet become accustomed to the life of having people trolling on the internet. The main comment that Cardi kept reiterating was that people said something along the lines of “why is she getting pregnant NOW, it is going to ruin her career”. Even Cardi B’s team around her felt that a baby would hold her back from doing the things she would have been able to do without a child.
It shows society’s perception of females with careers, even rappers. They do not say these things when men have children. It is such an inequality. They believe that she cannot do both and that almost discouraged Cardi. She did consider getting an abortion but realized that that would be the wrong decision. She is a grown woman in 2018 and she is proving the world wrong. She is showing that woman can do it all. They can be pregnant, have a fruitful career, and be successful all at one time. If people do not think that men should take off work to be fathers, and they should not have that perception of women either. Being pregnant is not a crutch.

The title “God’s Plan” alone directly correlates to Hip Hop and religion.
Throughout a few months I saw on The Shade Room Drake’s “random” acts of kindness. He bought cars, gave scholarships, took women out on shopping sprees.. etc. No one really knew WHY Drake was doing all of this, but it was widely respected. Later it was revealed that Drake had put all of this in his ‘God’s Plan’ video. In the beginning of the video it states that Drake had spent his nearly million dollar budget on giving back to the community.
For the most part everyone was team Drake, but it still opens up the floor for some controversial views. Some religious people may say that you can never know God’s plan. Some may say that he should not be taping his acts of kindness. Some say he is pandering, that is acts were disingenuous... i disagree. I think that what he did was great. It was better than making a pointless video that we, the people, would forget in two seconds. He greatly changed and helped many people’s lives.
In this article, religious leaders were asked how they felt about Drakes, seeing that it kind of had a religious aspect in referring to God. None of them had anything bad to say. They all agreed that it was great that Drake took the opportunity to help others even though he did not have to. He chose to be a selfless man.
The only response that was slightly questionable was that from the Rabi. He said, "Beautiful song... no further comment." To me, that gave off the vibe of if you do not have anything nice to say then do not say anything at all. It seemed like the Rabi was holding something back. It may be the fact that Drake specifically said 'God'. Most Jewish people do not refer to God as God. Some do not say his name at all or they refer to him by the Jewish name Hashem which means "the name". They do not actually call him by the name that he is truly given.

The females in hip hop always seem to be treated different than the male. When it comes to rap society and the media only seem to have room for one. The women in the rap game are ALWAYS pitted against one another.
When Nicki Minaj was on the rise there weren’t any popular/successful mainstream female artists. All of the other female rappers had come and gone. She had no competition and was in a lane of her own. The media saw that she was paying homage to Lil Kim in a lot of her styles and pictures and eventually there a beef commence between the two of them. Til this day there is zero communication between the two.
Now moving on to Cardi B. She is essentially the first female rapper to gain mainstream success since the birth of Nicki Minaj's career. People saw this as a chance to pit the two against one another. If you look at media outlets' (such as The Shade Room's) comments, whenever there is a post about either Cardi or Nicki, there is a person who ignites a comparison between the two. In today's time there is virtually no mention without the other. However, this is not a true beef. This "war" was created and maintained by spectators. When Nicki beefed with Lil Kim it was CRYSTAL CLEAR that the two did not like each other. The two called each other out in diss songs and online. The tension is noticeably thick. With Cardi B and Nicki however, there is no recognized tension. The two have denounced all talks of a beef. They insist that they have never had falling outs or any ill incidents.
Throughout many interviews, including this one, Cardi has done most of the talking to silence all talk about a beef. Nicki and Cardi even did a song together with the Migos called Motor Sport. The video of said video ignited more rumors of a beef because the two filmed no scenes together.
It is true that the two may very well be beefing. Maybe they are trying not to let it affect their public personas, but that is not the world's business. There shouldn't be this much tension from society for women. The media WANTS beef. They'd rather promote and support a war instead of unity.
