My friend, his kid, and his grandpa lost their home and belongings to a house fire and his kid, Lyra, is in a medically induced coma with third degree burns.

As of writing, the goal is at 92% completion, which is good, and it’d mean the world if we could reach 100% so they can have an easier time starting from the ground up.

i have a lot of difficulties communicating so i hope i can do justice to the need and life that eyad ( @eyadblogs ) and his family deserve:

eyad needs urgent medical attention, he's been poisoned since the first attacks in gaza, this i need to stress, is a very superficial assessment of what he needs immediately, because it is very possible the needs will supercede what we can offer today, the goals of almost every campaign ive seen are so small compared to the prices, and the things that happen before that are met with urgency letting things be ignored, we don't know what any single person under siege in gaza is going to need the next day.

even when eyad has been needing urgent help for himself for a while he also has been taking care of his family, and the conditions they're in are those of survival, the present and future they deserve is not this little things we can do, i know we can do better, so i ask of you on his behalf, on their behalf, and in giving hope i think we can hope ourselves to meet more than his needs but also fulfill his dreams, can we do that?

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
