September Musicale

Jane Christison provided a wonderful musicale at our June 9, 2024 chapter meeting. Jane sang and played the accordion on songs with a, "School Days," theme. We enjoyed singing along and doing hand motions on some of the songs.

2024 Scholarship Auditions

The 2024 Scholarship Auditions, which are organized by the Scholarship Committee of the KC Alumnae Chapter of SAI, will be held on March 23, 2024 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Prairie Village, Kansas.

The 2024 SAI Scholarship Audition Packet, which contains an information sheet and the application, is available online. (See the QR code.) The scholarship auditions are for college-level music students in area colleges and universities. The applicants will audition before three judges who are impartial professional musicians and receive written comments about their performance, along with ratings.

See the packet for a list of the scholarships that are available and the requirements for the auditions. Please share this information with others. Print and post the sheets of the packet where college-level music students and faculty will see them.

Applications sent by postal mail must be postmarked by March 11, 2024. Applications sent by e-mail must be received by March 17, 2024.

We had a wonderful SAI breakfast this morning at Tavern on the Moor at Creekmoor Golf Club in Raymore, MO. We were so glad to have SAI's Taylor Fegan and Sarah Grindstaff with us! It was great to have Angie Brown, guest of Marsha Oyer, with us, too! Thanks to Karen Puckett, violin, and Candace Roller, cello, for providing music. Thanks to Marilyn Miller for leading us in singing Christmas carols! Thanks to Candace for making the arrangements for us to meet in such a beautiful location with delicious food.

November Chapter Meeting Photos

We had a wonderful time at our Nov. 11, 2023 chapter meeting at Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Our musicale was provided by Leslie Hisman, flute, Megan Moore, soprano, and Pam Pendergast, piano. Pam accompanied vocal solos by Megan.

NO BAKE, BAKE SALE FUNDRAISER for the KC Music Foundation Scholarship Fund. The No Bake, Bake Sale starts on Nov. 11th and lasts until Dec. 31st.

No Bake, Bake Sale directions:

1. Calculate how much you would spend in supplies and how much your time is worth in baking items for a bake sale.

2. Donate that much money to our No Bake, Bake Sale.

3. Calculate how much money you would spend buying items at the bake sale.

4. Donate that much money to our No Bake, Bake Sale.

5. Write your check to: KC Music Foundation and in the memo line write: No Bake, Bake Sale

6. Mail your check to: Pam Pendergast, 4920 W. 69th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208

Funds that are raised through our No Bake, Bake Sale will be used to fund scholarships in 2024. Approximately $2,000 are needed to fund the scholarships at the same level as last year.

Extra Incentive!

Karen Puckett will provide a "thank you" gift that chapter members will receive (or pick up) at our February chapter meeting.
