Authors Note: I started this fic nearly a year ago and I never thought I’d post it until it was finished but I think I’m finally at a point where I want to share it with you all. So after me talking about it for literally forever, here it is and I hope you all enjoy. Shout out to @elvisp521 (formerly shawnm521) because without her this wouldn’t be half a great as it is. |Masterlist In Bio|
Moving to a new town in a new state is a fresh start for you. After a rough year dealing with an asshole boyfriend, leaving said boyfriend and losing your job, you have to find a new place in life. The world is a clean slate for you and Red Lake is where you’re ready to put down some roots and start over. Your best friend Jodi and her wife live there and they’re the closest thing to a real family you have left so choosing Red Lake was a no brainer.
“So, how’s the apartment?” Jodi asks as she unlocks the back door of the gym where she works. Her wife Harlow is the owner and a former female MMA fighter. “It’s not too shitty I hope.”
“Oh I didn’t get the apartment. I got the house on Garden Plaza. The one Harlow said her friend was renting out.”
“Oh yeah! Fuck, I totally forgot.” Jodi holds the door open for you and you wander into the back storage room. It’s full of old mats and various pieces of equipment in need of repair. “When does the truck arrive with your stuff?”
“This week. The drivers said tomorrow but I’m not counting on it.”
Jodi pushes open the door to the main hallway to the gym floor and nearly smacks into someone. “Holy shit!” She leans on the door and you step forward to see who she hit or just got scared by.
“Are you okay?” A voice says from beyond the door and a head pops out. “Sorry Jodi.”

Needing Space
A/N: Remember ages ago when I said I was working on an angst piece? Yeah, here it is.
Requested: Tour!Shawn where him and the reader got into some sort of argument before the show started? Super love your writing!!!!!!!
The exhaustion caused by never staying in the same city for more than a couple of nights at a time along with the pressures surrounding the everyday life on tour have caught up to both you and Shawn. The last couple of days have been extremely rough, but you’ve been trying to remind yourself that it’s only because you’re both stressed with everything going on.
You’ve managed to join Shawn on tour for a couple of weeks, but it has taken quite a bit of rearranging of your life and work schedule. Luckily, your job allows you the flexibility of working remotely. However, there are still extra struggles that come with not being in the office every day. It’s a small price to pay in exchange for seeing your boyfriend of three years get to live his absolute dream every night onstage.
Whenever you are with Shawn on tour, you help out as much as you can. Since you have been doing this for years, you’ve learned how to do a lot of odd jobs backstage. This is something you have always been proud of, since it never felt right for you to just sit around and wait for Shawn while he’s busy working, although, at first, that’s what people expected of you. They thought they’d have to cater to you, since you were the singer’s girlfriend, but you quickly debunked that idea by offering to help in every way you could, even if it was only small things back then. Now, crew members have no problem asking you for help, and even giving you big things to take responsibility of. You’ve made it clear that it’s something you enjoy doing, and you’re always willing to do whatever you can to make things run smoother.
