Proposal; I intend to make an exploration in color, inspired by my past sculptures in this class, and challenge myself to create a hanging work as my final project. I wish to create a piece that is interactive with the audience, composed of several pieces. Mostly made of fiber, all crochet by hand or netting. I'd be interested in playing with dyes after the structural bits are made. Dying white fibers or wool with color and having the colored fiber interact. The color pallet would be a color pallet that I use everyday in my tattoo work, just emulated in a different medium. I wish for the piece to emulate a unity within the fiber and color, a sense of playfulness and fun. Bold. In my perfect world, I would like the work to be hanging, interactive and large in scale. Time to get to work!

Probably my favorite video, you really get a sense for his love of his environment and how it affects his work.

Abraham Cruzvillegas explores his own creative and cultural identity in a way that I wish I could own. Raised in a town that built itself out of nothing, the idea that scarcity and necessity acted like a catalyst for Cruzvillegas' art. Creating from found objects, he doesn't try to force the connection and makes objects that can stand on their own substance after they have been created. As an artist who is so frequently inspired by the environment around me, I want to focus in on this cultural identity that we share, as well as develop a sense of creativity that springs from the idea of found objects, or found ideas.

Contemporary Sampler Sketch and Sources: - Roses, the biggest struggle I’ve had in art and tattooing. - Intertwining the ideas that float around in my head. The idea of intertwining. - linear designs and color - nature I want something that I can transport. It started off as a blanket I can use but I don't think that's what I meant. Something similar to a blanket. Maybe it was based off the age old idea of a quilt, something that meshes a million things together and is just there. Not necessarily for warmth, but more for remembrance and reverence. Something to inspire further study when the mind feels cold.

ARTIST OF INFLUENCE POST: Supakitch - In The Mix. 210 x 210 cm Acrylic and spray paint on canvas. 2012 - Tiffany - IceBird. 435x180cm Acrylic, spray paint and ink on canvas. 2011 I always take a special interest in people who dabble in several forms of art, seeing as I enjoy learning new skills while already developing my tattoo career at a good pace. I feel like I can integrate many of the skills that I learn into my trade in one way or another. Supakitch is an artist that takes something I don’t feel very confident with, aka painting, and manages to manifest the same style of creating into a very unique style of tattooing. http://www.widewalls.ch/artist/supakitch/ I really enjoyed the above linked article because it illustrates the idea that sometimes an artist doesn’t even realize their potential, they they go and play it safe without realizing what they can do with a little push. For Supakitch, his wife was the one who saw the potential in him and motivated him to go public with his artwork. From then on out, he was no longer a simple art director, but an artist in many mediums and practices.
