i think it's very unfortunate that a lot of youtubers that played hatoful boyfriend in the early 2010's mostly played the more silly and fluffier routes like san's or ryouta's before dropping the game... if they took the chance to play BBL or even just the heavier routes i think the game would've had a lot more popularity in its prime. i think it being touted as just a dumb dating sim with birds (without showing even just the BBL-foreshadowey stuff) really damaged its reputation in the mainstream in the long term
