A mutual friend, Kloss’s fellow VS model Lily Aldridge, introduced her to Swift, “and we were just like, ‘You. My friend. Now,’ ” says Swift. A few months later they saw each other again at an Oscars after-party, and Kloss suggested they do something spontaneous. “I’d been to Big Sur once before, and I was like, ‘We should just do it,’ ” says Swift. They walked beneath the redwoods, ran on the beach at sunset… x

#InvestigateBigSur2k15
I got a message last night from someone (doesn’t want to be named) saying that her and her family stayed at a place that looked a lot like where Karlie and Taylor stayed when they went on their road trip.
Tumblr media
As you can see, they’re standing pretty much in the same exact area except for the person who messaged me and her sister are just a little bit further forward and it’s shot from a different angle, but it’s still the same place. She said that this little area is close to the cabins at the Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn, and it can only be accessed if you stay there.
It’s “suitable primarily for couples”, and there’s no cell phone service, internet, or TV. So most likely heaven for the girls.
Here’s also a link if you want to take a look at some pictures of the place. Where they stayed looked extremely cozy, and a lot more private than the Post Ranch Inn… No doubt in my mind they had a peaceful little get away together.
EDIT:
This also might have been the cabin they stayed in-
Tumblr media
Behind and to the left is where Karlie and Taylor took the picture. There’s cabins that are close together, and then ones that stand alone, and based on privacy, they probably got the stand alone one. Might have even been the one above in that picture!

thinking about how taylor captioned a photo of her and karlie with lyrics to you are in love before anyone else even knew that song existed... god the amount of heteronormativity that has to exist in our society in order for them to get away with that is truly something else
tbh the amount of heteronormativity that has to exist in our society for them to get away with their goddamn vogue cover story and the best best friends video which were literally just an engagement/wedding photoshoot and them playing the newlywed game……… astounding

“You know for me it’s always you... I know for you it’s always me...” - those lines screamed so sure even in such an early stage of the relationship. Is it also because of the gravity?
This is what she said to Ryan Tedder when she was suggesting the song:
“(..)But I want to write a song about us against the world everybody’s trying to figure us out and we have to keep it secret.”

Excerpt from Wonderland Magazine - 2014
Also this:

She makes it sound quite clear that it is her projecting her fears but also her determination to make a new relationship work. Those two lines always sounded like a mutual promise for the future. Hearing her sing it at her last tour stop during Tokyo night 1 made me have all the feelings.
“Oh it’s gravity, keeping you with me” and those two lines from IKP are two faces of the same coin; TS mind of conveying a thought with different words some times in a very blunt and direct manner and some other times in a figurative way.

Can you elaborate or explain the parallels on the sinking ships line on IKP and This Love? In TL there’s also a line of wildest dreams. Is it related to WD? I’m not really good with analysis and stuff and Im hoping you can shed light to it?
The “wildest dreams” imagery always sounded on a polar opposite on This Love and Wildest Dreams.
In TL it feels very optimistic about the future of the relationship described even if the song is rather sad and the relationship ended up being doomed. While in WD she sings about she was sure that other relationship is not going to have time to bourgeon and wanted her lover to remember her in the best way possible when this is over. They are interlinked by the fact that the first relationship made her feel guarded, thus this inescapable fear that the person she got with is going to walk away from her. She probably penned down the song narrative during a moment of vulnerability.
As for the ship lines, TS uses the sea and ships in TL as visual elements for her story, it’s sad, dark and blue. Very calm as well but not the reassuring kind, but the kind that sounds like giving up and letting yourself be guided by the currents. In I Know Places she takes the ships metaphor in another direction to show her determination that she was not going to let the outside world ruin this relationship. “Loose lips sink ships all the damn time. Not this time.”
Making I Know Places the perfect prequel for reputation.

Saw an anon in kaylorrepdetective saying something about Taylor’s quote about great pre Kaylor days. What was that all about? What was the quote? They said they were inspired by you.
Oh it was about some stuff I posted on Twitter few days ago. It's from her cover story for InStyle US November 2013 issue that hit the stands on October 18 that year and must have been done in late summer, and it was this:
On whether she's ever been in love: "I think that you can love people without it being the great love. Ed [Sheeran] said something that really resonated with me. He says there are different kinds of love: There's physical attraction, mental attraction, and emotional attraction; there's also comfort and obsession. You need to have all of those things in one person. You have to mentally respect them, be physically attracted, and have a comfort level. You're obsessed with them, yet you also know they're going to stay. I've never had that in one person."
So many lyrics, quotes from the prologue, poems interviews and editorials from Taylor after this, reflect how things changed and found that love Ed and her talked about here. What's the first thing that comes to your mind?
Also I love this shoot (except the cover that is not my cup of tea)

Tell me more about New Year’s Day
Ok, it is a long read, written half drunk (excellent  Monbazillac straight outta Dorgogne)  not gonna edit the train of thoughts, so here you go:
When Taylor talked about this song, she said she found the “inspiration” in new years eve parties and how the day after you stay with the one you share your life with to clean the mess and spend the day in peace, in private which is a huge contrast with the partying. Here is how I read it. This song wraps up the album. But imo, in taylor private life it describes her transition from NYE its glitter and polaroid aka the 1989 era with the social media and media overexposure, the girls squad, the friends, the parties, the outings. “you and me from the night before”: everything they lived during this phase in life that she is about to put behind her.She is scared because she doesn’t know what the reaction of the person she’s singing for would be if they get to the last page of the book she is about to close, will that person stay for the next one? This is almost the only song in which she talks about doubts coming from the other person because they are both scared. She says she wants the celebrations but she’d also stick to do life’s mundane tasks when the lights are out, and by that I think it means the beginning of her blackout phase.Verse 2 is where they start putting this plan en route, their taxi ride. It is a very interesting non verbal exchange, the other person squeezing her hand is a sign of reassurance, one that is done by someone who doesn’t need words to say what you need to hear, your long term SO, your BFF or a close family member. She replies that even if this trip is long, she is not going anywhere and will be there for the worst and for better times alike. In the post chorus and the bridge, I think she is preparing her love interest for a difficult part. A part where they will probably be physically separated from each other for longer periods than they are used to before. Thus asking the person to hold on to the memories they shared together (3 times. you can stretch and reach and say it corresponds to 3 years relationship before the blackout if you feel like it, I don’t make the rules). And then she tells her love interest that if they hold on to these memories she will hold on to them as a pair. She is not leaving, she is just retreating. She is asking them not to forget her and this relationship she is trying to keep during this new phase of life, where their separate lives would probably be less in sync than before. She knows her lover like the back of her hand and could not stand the idea of them becoming strangers.Overall, at first I did not pay attention to the depth of it I really just thought she was describing the aftermath of a party. But she is not. Wouldn’t you expect a mention of alcohol here (in Taylor’s most alcohol-drenched album)? well surprise, there is none. Because it is not describing an actual party, but her transition from the 1989 to the Rep era and wanting her partner to cross that bridge with her. Some sort of “through thick-and-thin promise” in a form of a soft ballad. It also strikes me as a narrative of a long term relationship where two people are settled in a certain lifestyle and they are about to make a drastic change due to what life throws at them and they are maybe hesitantly walking to their destination but holding hands firmly. So that’s my meta-analysis and very liberally done interpretation of this song. It was a head-scratcher for me, she wrote it and recorded it quite fast and felt that THIS is the song that should wrap up an album she called reputation with and that she is releasing after she completely turned her public life around. And this is how it made sense to me.
