Do women drunk on the trad wife fantasy know that women have been working in factories since the 1800s?
Like, why do you always assume you’re going to be middle to upper class living in the suburbs being a full time homemaker?
You’re more likely to be living in a multigenerational household while also doing some work on the side while raising your kids. Your money will go straight to your husband and he gets to decide what happens to it.

i have understood so many things about online leftist culture by the fact that when i said "your local community has people you will morally and politically disagree with but you cannot lock them out of accessing any tangible service you’re organising" one of the tags responding said "this isn’t about proshippers in here you’re not welcome" like. folks. focus with me. some of us are homeless here.

it disturbs me that a significant number of people think that the issue with sexual violence, gendered violence, and misogyny is sexual desire rather than dehumanization, so they are relentlessly suspicious of others' (and their own) desires while simultaneously never at all interrogating others' (and their own) dehumanizing beliefs about other people, both within and outside of sexual contexts

Misogyny as policy treats women as 'less than'.
There is no law that controls a man's body. Now do the same for women.
Equal protection is the law.

I cannot believe there's absolutely no way to watch free shows and movies anymore, there are too many paid streaming platforms and pirating websites have viruses and ads preventing you from watching it uninterrupted((.)) id rather follow the rules and purchase media moving forward because it is too inconvenient. Seriously, free and no ads or viruses with 1080p streaming is DEAD.

I think a lot about how we as a culture have turned “forever” into the only acceptable definition of success.
Like… if you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, it’s a “failed” business. If you write a book or two, then decide that you don’t actually want to keep doing that, you’re a “failed” writer. If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, it’s a “failed” marriage.
The only acceptable “win condition” is “you keep doing that thing forever”. A friendship that lasts for a few years but then its time is done and you move on is considered less valuable or not a “real” friendship. A hobby that you do for a while and then are done with is a “phase” - or, alternatively, a “pity” that you don’t do that thing any more. A fandom is “dying” because people have had a lot of fun with it but are now moving on to other things.
I just think that something can be good, and also end, and that thing was still good. And it’s okay to be sad that it ended, too. But the idea that anything that ends is automatically less than this hypothetical eternal state of success… I don’t think that’s doing us any good at all.

since we live in the era of garbage health advice, these are my honest and tried-true tips:
eat a variety of things. if you don’t have a ton of time to cook, buy a bag of onions and chop them up when you wake up in the middle of the night. now you have improved knife skills and versatile onions ready to go. do this enough, and you’ll be able to make pretty much anything with a really low prep time.
exercise when and how you can. you don’t need to get a gym membership. you can walk around your neighborhood in loops while you listen to an audiobook and call it a day. you can bike up the steepest hill around you and coast down while you exhale on the way back. you can follow along with calisthenics videos on youtube. you can do yoga and lift. it doesn’t matter. you’ll feel better if you move around.
wear sunscreen. you probably won’t get skin cancer in general, but avoiding the possibility of that as much as possible is still helpful.
if your apartment has a balcony, if your building has a courtyard, if your house has a backyard, read or work outside if the weather permits it.
if you can’t see your closest friend each week, at least call them. non-text/IM/discord/whatever conversation matters a lot. grounding presences keep you sane.
it’s simple but it’s not easy. you’ll get into the groove if you do it enough. and if you do it right, you’ll be immune to quick fixes.
