Back to life
Wow, I haven’t written in a very long time. As I am procrastinating work, I decided to visit this page and all I saw were instagram posts. I randomly decided to pick page 29 to see what I was yapping about back then and it brought me back to when I had #gradschoolprobs LOL. Back then I thought the world revolved around quizzes and good grades. Makes me feel good though, that all that hard work was worth it. 3 years later - here I am, still working at the firm of my dreams, trying to test a control 2 days after Christmas, in our new house.
Things have definitely changed from 3 years ago. We are no longer living in our teeny apartment where we can hear every move of our upstairs neighbor - we now have a house!!! We are living in our dream home! I am no longer in grads school - I have been working in a big 4 firm for the past 3 years!!! I am no longer going crazy over outfits and shopping - the only thing I like splurging on these days are pajama sets LOL. If I were to wear one thing for the rest of the winter I would definitely pick my knit striped pajamas.
Although there are good changes, it all comes with a price. I have never felt this tired. I don’t feel refreshed or re-energized when I wake up - actually the opposite. I can barely keep my eyes open from 9-11am, even with an 8-hour sleep. I have been battling a cold for the past month and I’ve been feeling sick to my stomach about the amount of work I have to this coming busy season. I went to therapy for 6 months without seeing much results. It helped me untangle my thoughts and feelings, but I didn’t really get an answer.
In order to cheer myself up - stay optimistic, I got two self-help books: Miracle Morning and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. I can’t even bring myself to finish these books. I am so tired - I can’t even read for pleasure. I also now have picked up a terrible habit of not sleeping unless the TV is on. It’s annoying because I know exactly how to fix my issues - go to a yoga class to quiet the mind, to re-energize. I just have so many excuses-- too busy, too tired, too expensive. I’d rather eat a bag of cheetos and watch hey arnold. I know - I’ve become a terrible human being.
I hope I get my shit together in 2018. Once all our projects in our new house is done and after busy season - hopefully I can focus on myself again.

St. Peter's Square, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. As our tour guide called it, "the mothership of the catholic faith!" Indeed it was. Not only was it a feast for the eyes, but praying in the basilica and thinking about everything that's happened there, was an incredible spiritual experience 🙏 (at Vatican City)

After our 3-hour walking tour (😱), we decided to walk another 30 mins to a highly-rated osteria in Trastevere. I was exhausted, hungry, and grumpy. When we got there, the osteria was still closed and we'd have to wait another 30 mins for them to open. We decided to eat in whatever restaurant we see next with open tables. Thank god we found this low-key restaurant with the best margherita pizza and lasagna we've ever had. This was the best meal we've had on our trip so far. Lesson learned: everything happens for a reason! 😁👍 (at Trattoria Vincenzo Alla Lungaretta)

Got really emotional when we saw the Fontana Di Trevi. Its grandeur just left us with no words. Of course while we were there someone proposed to his girlfriend, (she said yes!) the crowd cheered and I got teary-eyed 🙂 We're now halfway done with our vacation and I still can't believe we made this trip happen this year. I remember having a piggy bank in high school which I labeled "Eurotrip 2006!" Lol. 😂 I'm 11 years too late from my original plan, but a ton of hard work through the years finally brought me to this beautiful continent. Truly, all good things are worth waiting (and working!) for 😊 (at Fontana Di Trevi-Roma)

Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, and St. Vitus Cathedral. Prague's history and beauty made our quick trip so memorable. We're already planning when we'll be back 😁 (at Prague, Czech Republic)

Oktoberfest in Munich was quite an experience! How to get a table in a beer tent: start drinking at noon, on a Monday 😂 (at Munich, Germany)

Long weekend highlights: the best fresh oysters from @parcdetroit, no-bake cheesecake from @thepeterboro, coconut cups from @_takoi_, and @tacobell breakfast (no photo 😂). Thank you @kirbymendola for letting me eat lunch at 2pm and dinner by 5pm. We'll be living off ramen noodles for the next month, but it's totally worth it 😋

This year's birthday cake was a giant piece of deep fried bread (elephant ears) covered in bavarian cream and chocolate syrup which @kirbymendola and I devoured in minutes. Take note, we also had chili cheese fries 10 mins prior. We walked home (1 mile away), so it's okay. 😁 (at Arts, Beats & Eats)

So sad that one of my favorite coworkers is leaving the firm, but very happy for him and glad that to have made a friend for life. I guess when you work with someone for at least a hundred hours/week you become good fiends 🤷♀️#byeLuke 😭 (at Bronx Bar Detroit)
