Hi there! 🙂 I was wondering if you would be willing to share your Procreate brushes as well as any textures? 💕 It doesn’t matter if it’s paid or not. I would be more than happy to pay for anything. I’m planning to use Procreate for the very first time on my very first iPad, so I wanted to know what you use for Procreate. As a longtime follower, I find your art to be very gorgeous! 🥰
These are the ones I use the most! 💕
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do (-:

I've been wondering what the difference is between commissions and commercial work is for an artist, since I have seen several artists also with that preference.
Is it mostly an issue of pay? Of portfolioability? Ability to be confident the client will treat you professionally?
No pressure to explain! Feel free to just delete this ask if you're not up for it.
Sure!
To clarify, commercial work is when a client is expected to use the commissioned artwork to gain monetary profit directly or indirectly. Examples of direct profit would be using the artwork to produce a product like a print for their own business and selling it. Indirectly would be something like to use the art for their brands website banner, book/album covers, packaging, etc.
My own example: I was commissioned by There Skateboards to design a skate deck for their Spring 2022 collection.

There's multiple reasons why an artist might choose commercial over personal commission work:
clients typically pay a higher rate for commercial work compared to someone who is only using it for personal use
potential for a stable income if the client keeps hiring you for future work
diversifying your portfolio and showing future clients that you are capable of working on time sensitive projects and are professional
wider audience visibility on your work that you might have not been able to reach otherwise
The list can go on but I feel like these are the main reasons. However, there are some drawbacks like not being compensated reasonably, not enough creative freedom, too tight of a deadline, company doesn't align with your values, etc. I think it really depends on the artist and what they personally enjoy doing and what they would rather deal with since both have pros and cons just like with any type of work!

Thank you so much for everyone's kind words and comments!!!
I was planning on deleting this but at this point I can't! I just want to keep re-reading each comment until I've internalized them completely.
I absolutely love these artists. I think they're so talented and I find them so inspirational. I even have a few art books and collect their works of art whenever I can. I will never deny that I don't look at their work as a source of inspiration as I would never deny that I look at Alphonse Mucha, Helen Stratton and Alice Marshall.
However, when you're being compared to a deceased artists versus ones that are your contemporaries, the former comes off as implying you're "well-studied" and the latter a "rip-off". At least that's the vibe I get from online spaces. It is very nice to hear from others who have a different opinion on this matter so I don't have to keep hearing the same negative voices in my head anytime I want to create anything.
Thank you again! I have lots to think about and I appreciate the honesty from everyone.
I will definitely delete this later. This is very silly in retrospect but these thoughts have been weighing heavily on my mind in recent weeks.
I've been getting more comments either in person or online how my artwork looks too similar to another artist. Going as far as seeing comments on Pinterest mislabeling my work as said other artist. It's very disheartening and it makes me even question my own thought process and prevents me from exploring themes that might overlap in fear that it might be accused of being a ripoff. I've already had that happen with my mermaid illustration and a different artist's girl in a oyster shell. Or with my fairy fruit girls with another artist's fairy fruit girls...
While I won't deny there are similarities and I do find this artist very talented and inspirational, my art style developed from heavily studying art nouveau, golden age of illustration, and shoujo styles like Clamp. I love pencil lines because that's what I used since I started drawing and never found any other medium as comfortable. I love girls, nudity, lingerie, nature, fantasy, soft lines, soft colors, detailed hair, lolita fashion, dark themes, erotic themes, romantic themes... the list goes on. I would like to imagine that my style developed naturally and independently but with these comments stuck in my head, now I'm questioning myself and my honesty. I get why it's natural to compare one artist to another. I also look at someone's work and think this person's work reminds me of someone else's and of course I don't think less of them because of it. The opposite really, it's exciting to me to see groups of artists who share similar vibes and aesthetics. It's human nature to find comparisons and similarities. But I just need to know that I'm okay. That my work is allowed to exist as is and I shouldn't take it too personally. That my work can be both similar and stand on it's own.

I was too late ordering the mermaid sticker and it's sold out :(
Will you be re-stocking it at some point in the future?
Yes! I did order a bunch since I noticed I'm running out. However, they'll be restocked online when my shop reopens again in January

2025 MARKETS & CONVENTIONS
TBA.
---
F.A.Q
Do you do commissions / tattoo commissions?
As of right now, I am not accepting personal commissions and I don't have any plans to open them for the foreseeable future.
I would like to move on from commissions and focus on my own personal projects, conventions + online shop + patreon, and commercial work. Thank you for understanding!
Can I use your art as a pfp, banner, phone wallpaper, etc?
Yes! As long as you're not making money off of my work or using it as part as your business to advertise, you're free to use my work for your own personal social media. Maybe credit me somewhere in your bio? That would be nice :-)
Can I get your artwork tattooed?
You can get a tattoo ticket on my online shop. All the information about it can be found in the description!
When will your online shop be open?
Since I am one person who has adhd/autism/chronic pain, I don't update my online shop with new items as often as I would like. Whenever I do plan on updating my shop, I always make a social media post on tumblr, instagram, and twitter, usually a week in advance.
