I don't care about Dungeon Meshi otherwise but "Tallmen" is SUCH an elegant solution to placing humans in a fantasy setting that it's still blowing my mind. Just the term itself is enough to instantly recontextualize humans. They're no longer the default race. They're those big goobers with long legs, striding about all the time. I can so easily envision much more interesting relationships between humans and non-humans because of it. Like perhaps "tallmen" are stereotyped as shepherds by other races because they can watch over their flocks better, or as vagabonds because they are better suited to long travel on foot. And of course, they don't *literally* have to be taller than everybody else, they were just the tallest around whenever the label became the norm, or something like that. I just feel like it's so much better than what I've seen in settings like D&D that go "and humans are the... adaptable, generalist people :)!"

i grew up in a family of left leaning hippies (thank god) but i can't stop thinking about the one holiday dinner party where my teenage cousin said something about immigrant hotels and needing to stop the boats and there was like. a pause at the table until our grandpa, a very mild mannered man, just went "now where the fuck did you hear that?" Incredible aura. ive never heard that man swear before or since but man did he pick a perfect time for it.

i think we should swap yaoi and yuri tropes more. a pair of doomed teenage boys taking a break from their afterschool music club to go on a cute planetarium date, shyly brushing fingers while internal dialogue goes on and on about the purity of their relationship. on other side of town a lesbian is getting railed by a mafia boss.

FTM PASSING ADVICE
- start wearing typically masculine clothing, like suits with wide shoulders
- people will tell you to not wear pinstripes because it'll make your chest and curves more obvious but think of it as a disguise to throw off their scent, like a zebra. it's urban camouflage
- start callin other men "boss" as a sign of respect
- always make sure to stay safe, keep a switchblade on you or a handgun or something
- consider your diet, work some carbs and fat in there for when T starts workin it's magic. im talkin pasta, pizza, lasagna
- tuck your hair up into a fedora if ya can't cut it
- remember to voice train, if you layer on an accent maybe it'll be less obvious, like a Brooklyn one if you're not already from there
- start snappin your rhythmically and intimidatingly when you find the poor bastard that owes the big man up top that several hundred grand who hasn't paid his dues yet. that'll show em who's the dominant man in the situation
- put a playlist of noir jazz music together and have it playing on your phone in your pocket so it follows you at all times, this is crucial to exuding masculine energy
- don't bind for more than 6-7 hours straight

i. need. my. fellow. transmascs. to. understand. that. egg. posts. are. not. for. you.
"haven't you considered you might be happier as a girl" is not directed at you. you tried it out, you hated it, it didn't work. so it's directed at people who've never given being a girl a try.
it's like if someone started telling their math major friend "yeah you might be happier majoring in the humanities" and then i ran over and started yelling about how my life was sooooo much better when i switched to STEM. like cool. not my business. they're not me.
and yeah i get it being brought up transmasc feels like being "forcibly feminized" but that's not what "forcefem" as a concept is about. it's not about someone forcibly detransitioning a transmasc. it's about people who were camab getting to experiment with femininity in a less stigmatizing way.
just. mind your own goddamn business. don't insert yourself in conversations that have nothing to do with you.

Trans woman: It's fucked up that engaging in ageplay & incest kinks, a thing so fucking popular among cishets that calling people they think are hot Daddy & Mommy to indicate they find them attractive without even negotiating it beforehand or conceptualizing it as a kink, is seen as a sign of being a real life pedophile seeking to corrupt minors when transfems have these kinks, and used to deplatform and isolate us. It is literally just the right wing groomer rhetoric in a "leftist" costume to make you feel better about doing the same shit.
Poster A who didn't understand: Maybe she's the real transmisogynist for saying liking incest and ageplay is innate to the transfem experience.
Poster B who didn't read: They are a transphobe and a pedophile.
Poster C who is racist: Anime is inherently pedophilic so there's actually many more transwomen who need to be called out for community accountability and safety.
Trans woman: *gets harassed, mass reported, and banned*
Poster A: damn I disagreed with her but she didn't deserve to be banned, fucking transmisogynist website and it's transfem banwaves.
Poster B: Just because she was gross and scary doesn't mean she deserved to be banned like that. Fucking transphobic website. Bet those nasty TERFs mass reported her.
Poster C: This banwave is fucked up but we need to remember this user was banned for grooming minors and harassing the people calling them out for it. Don't valorize an abuser just because the mod team is bigoted.
Like fucking clockwork on this webbed site

If you interrogate trans discourse a bit, you quickly find that a surprising number of people who should know better have a bad understanding of what "cis" means.
See, if you read between the lines, a lot of people parse "cis woman" as "woman who is biologically female".
What's the issue with this? Well, think about it. "Biologically female" is a fuzzy concept, you know this because of the memes where they epicly own the terfs by pointing out that attempting to nail down a clear definition leads to failure points such as excluding post-menopausal women, or infertile women, or any variety of obvious women depending on the "clever" new definition of "biological female" being deployed.
This is a problem that we've already resolved. Recall the acronym "AFAB", which colloquially means "biologically female" because precise terminology is doomed forever. It stands for "assigned female at birth", which if you scrutinize the word choice a bit, has some interesting choices:
"Assigned": This word implies that the process described is not, in fact, a naturalistic or automatic process. Assignments are typically performed by someone who holds power in a hierarchial structure, on a subject of lower standing in the hierachy.
"At birth": This word choice describes that the assignment is a one-time event, rather than an empirical quality of the individual.
From this, we can infer that the "female" being assigned here is in fact a socially constructed categorization, and implicitly, the same thing applies to the "AMAB" acronym.
What does this mean, in practice? It means that a baby will be provided with one of these assignments at birth. The assignment will be recorded and enforced systemically, and perceived deviations from the assignment have, in general, been pathologized because the assignment is prescriptive rather than descriptive.
Now, what is a cis person?
A cis person, at the most basic level, is someone who complies with the assignment.
Cisnormativity is the social mechanism coercing you to comply with the assignment, demanding justification for any act that deviates from that assignment, whether that's refusing "corrective" procedures for an intersex person, or transitioning.
It's not really about biology. It's about what society expects from you.
