TRESemmé Detox & Nourish Shampoo
TRESemmé has always been a household name when it comes to the hair industry so when they launched their Detox & Nourish shampoo variant, I was excited to try it out. One thing that intrigued me is that they claimed to not have used any dyes and parabens. This made me curious since I know that these ingredients are widely used in most hair products.
Parabens are associated with hair loss because they can be easily absorbed through the skin and can be harmful to your scalp. It can cause a number of problems for the hair including drying, irritating the scalp, and even hair loss.
Dyes are usually used in shampoos and conditioners to give them a synthetic color to make them look vibrant. These dyes might come from petroleum or coal-tar sources which can have harm health effects.
Ingredients:
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Dimethiconol, Perfume, Sodium Benzoate, TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Citric Acid, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Laureth-23, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Disodium EDTA, Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenoxyethanol, Lysine HCl, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Zingiber Zerumbet Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract
The Detox & Nourish shampoo variant has 2 notable ingredients that are known to have fantastic benefits to the hair: ginger & green tea.
Ginger is known to boost scalp circulation. The circulation stimulates hair growth and strengthens the hair root and follicles. Moreover, it was also reported that the fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals present in ginger can strengthen hair strands, which prevents hair loss.
Green Teas is rich in antioxidants which can fight free radicals, protect the hair & detoxifies the effects of toxins on the scalp due to pollution. It also promotes hair growth and can make hair thicker & stronger.
These two main ingredients are appropriate for the claims TRESemmé have stated. As a person who goes out all the time and have experienced hair fall, I can say that this effectively helped make my hair feel ‘clean’ and reduced the occurrence of hair fall.
Speaking of feeling clean when using this product, the scent and the texture are in lined with the whole aesthetic. The scent is not overpowering, it does not smell artificial like most shampoos do. It smells like a herbal tea. It’s very pleasing to smell. On the other hand, the texture is thick and runny like a gel and has no artificial color. The lather of the product is great, however, if you’re like me who prefers foamy shampoos then you may need a lot.
Pros:
- Lives up to its claims
- Clean scent
- Lessens hair fall
- No parabens and dyes
Cons:
- Quite expensive
TRESemmé Detox & Nourish has a clean scent that makes you feel like you got an expensive hair treatment. As compared to other shampoo products, it doesn’t have that cheap & artificial floral scent. It is free from dyes which makes it transparent and completes the whole aesthetic of the product. It effectively detoxifies & nourishes the hair as proven by lessening the occurrence of hair fall. The shampoo doesn’t have that much ingredients so it is recommended for individuals who want take a hair product “break” but still want to use shampoos. It is also recommended for people who go out a lot and want to feel their hair is clean after every wash.
Here’s a summary of my review:
Effectiveness: Lives up to its claims, effective
Fragrance: Clean scent
Texture: Thick and runny like a gel
Overall, it is a really great product and definitely deserved the Best Shampoo of 2019 by Preview. If you have the budget to try and test it out yourself, please do so!
My personal rating would be:
