Um hi, took an expected brake from tumblr for a few weeks. Will be updating this fic and creating new ones soon. Don’t hate me but I haven’t been reading either :(
The Worst Mistake (Rowaelin) pt2
Aelin woke immediately after feeling something shift under her. She opened her eyes to see her veil of hair covering her vision. Pulling her hair out of her face, it took her a second to focus on the silver haired hulking man, covered from the waist down with a bed sheet. He stood with his back turned to her for a second before whirling around at the sound of her gasp.
“SHIT” Aelin rasped in her still guttural morning voice. “What the hell did we do last night?”
Rowans face fell dark as he replied, “A lot if I can remember correctly”
Aelin’s mind started to unfog by the second as she thought about the night before.
How she had already felt tipsy as she left the bar, then persuaded the cab driver to drive her back for a twenty-dollar tip. She had made up her mind to find someone new to sleep with for the night, but never in a million years would she have thought Rowan Whitethorn would be her man for the night.
Rowan Whitethorn…. The man who has probably said less than ten words to her in the months she has known him. Rowan who had found every opportunity to avoid her like the plague, who shared the same views as Lorcan but was not nearly as vocal of them.
For a week straight Aelin has woken up in a different stranger’s bed, a week straight since she walked in on her boyfriend of more than a year sleeping next to a brunette with ratty curls.
Anything to fill this emptiness in her body, the hole torn through her as her lover betrayed her. The touch of other men made her picture Dorian every night, Aelin was fully preparing herself to sleep with the whole city until that was indeed not the case.
That is until last night occurred, she remembers being so enraged by Rowan, so furious, which was a surprise since she had failed to feel anything for the past week, save for of course biting emptiness.
Aelin remembers buying shots after shots after shots as they argued, as they yelled through the bar. She vaguely remembers crashing her lips to his as he gripped her thighs and hulled her up the stairs, not even trying to keep it down as they both stumbled through the building to his door.
Aelin snapped her eyes back to Rowan from where they wondered. “We can’t tell anyone”
Rowan’s face revealed his disdain as he muttered “You think I want people knowing I fucked you”
Aelin rolled out of his bed and tossed on her clothes that had been thrown half hazardly in pile next to the bed.
“I mean it Rowan. I can’t hurt Aedion like that.” She snapped.
“When have you ever thought about anyone else’s feelings but your own?” Rowan chuckled as buckled his jeans.
Aelin bared her teeth as she spoke “Fuck off. You’re one of his closest friends, it’ll piss him the hell off and he’ll hate you” she knew Rowan had no choice but to agree.
For a moment Aelin let herself look at Rowan’s bare chiseled chest, right at that second she noticed those were indeed fresh scratches on his shoulders, sliding to his pecs.
Rowan’s eyes followed hers and smirked “Yes, I guess we did play a little ruff.” Pointing to her chest. Aelin looked down to see bruised love bites all over her breast.
Aelin muttered a curse as she put on her dress from the night before and left his apartment.
…
It has been two weeks since her little incident with Rowan, and ever since Aelin has found an excuse not to join her cousin and his friends out on bar nights, just for fear of seeing Rowan and dealing with the awkward interaction. Unfortunately, tonight is Lysandra’s birthday party and she had no way of getting out of it unless she were dead or instead wanted to die at Lys’s hands.
At least the party is at Lys and Aedion’s house and Aelin knew all the ins and outs of that house so she could easily avoid Rowan.
Aelin had successfully avoided conflict all night, sitting in the corner with a glass of wine pressed to her lips, her only companion being Lys, who was being pulled away every few seconds for birthday wishes.
It seemed as though Rowan had the same thought as her, because she had failed to even glimpse him all night. The only reason she vaguely knew he was there was Lorcan’s presence. She knew they were practically attached by the hip.
Aelin found herself needing a minute to escape the crowded living room, so she made her way to one of the bathrooms. That’s when a broad hand wrapped around her arm and pulled her into an empty room.
Aelin let out a loud shriek as she almost failed to keep her balance, nearly falling as her eyes adjusted to the dark room. Her gaze met Rowan’s blazing pine green eyes.
“I haven’t seen you in a while” His voice was low, nearly guttural. Rowan was standing a little too close for comfort so she backed away step, only to find herself against a wall.
“That was on purpose” she remarked with a head tilt.
“Was it?” he asked as he took a step closer, making her tilt her head back to keep eye contact.
“Yes” she tried to keep the snap in her voice but it didn’t quite come out so snarky as wanted.
“Tell me you haven’t thought about that night as much as I have and I will walk away right now.” Rowan uttered as his gaze fell to her lips and back up.
She couldn’t say that she hasn’t. Seemed as though every second of the days since was filled with her wondering about that night, his skin touching hers felt unnaturally good, epically coming from the person it did. She couldn’t lie, she wanted him against her better judgement.
“We can’t do this.” She whispered in answer.
“We will keep it a secret.” He said as he pressed his lips gently to hers and raised his head again to look at her eyes in question.
At that moment, Aelin lost all sense of composure as she crashed her lips to his and wrapped her arms around his neck as Rowan pressed her against the wall.

The Worst Mistake (Rowaelin)
This is roughly based off @myfeyrelady piece called “the best mistake” but just opposite.
Rowan hated Aelin. Absolutely hated her. Hated that every single time his group of friends went out, Aedion had to bring his bratty cousin. Aedion always watched her like a hawk, which in turn made him the designated sober person of the group. No longer having great nights with Aedion being the life of the party, he is now being mother hen to a wild twenty-one-year-old.
Her presence wouldn’t bother Rowan that much if all of his friends weren’t under her spell, save for Lorcan, who was probably the only other person in the world who didn’t love her. Fenrys, Connall, and Vaughan always flanked her on bar nights, buying her drinks, trying their hardest to flirt with her. Oh Rowan could tell she lived for the attention.
Rowan was honestly so good at ignoring her, not that she really even noticed him, he felt her have the same distain that was mutual. Rowan could tell she hated him solely because she didn’t have him rapped around her finger like the others.
Tonight though Rowan and his friends decided to go to one of their favorite bars for Fenrys’s birthday. And of course Aelin tagged along.
Across the bar Rowan eyed Aelin as she sat on a bar stool with her legs crossed revealing her bare skin from her short dress as she spoke to a fellow patron. She tilted her head as she spoke, rubbing the man’s bicep as she batted her lashes and smiled. Turning to Aedion, Rowan noticed Aedion’s jaw clenched and his eyes filled with fury as he glared at Aelin as well.
“I thought she had a boyfriend” Fenrys’s scoffed from across the table, no doubt jealous of Aelin’s attention being solely on a stranger.
“She didn’t tell you guys?” Lysandra answered. And with everyone giving her a questioning glance she finished “Dorian cheated on her”
“WHAT?” Aedion spat nearly getting the attention of the surrounding tables only to be saved by the music playing overhead.
“She caught him in bed with his coworker.” Lysandra answered.
Rowan didn’t want to hear of this, he felt as if the information was an invasion of privacy so he rolled his eyes at Lys’s gossiping nature.
“I’m going to fucking kill him.” Aedion gritted out.
“Why? Seems like she is quite over it.” Lorcan cooed from across the table.
“Well that’s only because she is trying to find a one night stand to get over it.” Lys said rolling her eyes at Lorcan’s tone.
“Like hell she is!” Aedion was out of his chair in half a second and across the bar in the next.
Rowan watched as Aedion no doubtable embarrassed his little cousin by stocking over there like pissed off father. Aedion gripped Aelin under her arm and hauled her off the chair, pissing off the man she was probably going to make her conquest for the night.
The man threw a punch Aedion’s way before anyone could react and Rowans whole table was sprawled into action, jumping across the room to pull Aedion away before he started an allout brawl.
As the night dwindled down, Aelin sat with the group at the table, silently sipping her cocktail, brooding over the fact that for the rest of the night she was now being babysat. Rowan glanced her way every few minutes just to bask in her fuming features, flared nostrils, furrowed brows, and glaring eyes, making Rowan laugh internally.
Last call was approaching and Rowan found himself sipping on his whiskey alone, with the guys gone and Aedion dragging Aelin with him and Lysandra, Rowan was left enjoying the last of his drink. He is far from sober but he has no problem with that since he lives in the apartments right next door.
He was just about to approach the bartender about closing his tab with an hour to spare when a blonde with a pep in her step waltzed in, catching the attention of not only him but the rest of the dead crowd. Rowan recognized her in a second and immediately regretted not leaving the bar earlier.
Aelin pranced to the bar stool next to him and smiled with a wicked grin. She looked around for a second before saying “You’re the only one left.” pouting her lip to emphasize her disappointment. This alone infuriated Rowan.
“Why are you here?” Rowan asked flatly not taking his eyes away from his drink as he picked it up to take a sip.
“Aedion thinks he can just shove me in a cab and I will automatically obey like a puppy” laughing as she spoke.
Before Rowan could remark, Aelin shifted her attention to the bartender “Two tequila shots please. “she chirped.
Aelin took a look at Rowans face as he whirled to her “If I’m here, I might as well drink.”
As the bartender set them down, Aelin scooted one towards Rowan, to his surprise, but he made no move to pick it up.
“Oh come on, don’t make me drink alone.” Aelin cooed batting her lashes in an effort to persuade him. Still he didn’t take it.
“Wow, Gods old man, stick to your whiskey then.” She snapped before swigging back her shot.
Rowan tried not to let her words get to him but of course they did, without giving himself a second to contemplate he took the shot.
Aelin’s surprise illuminated her face as she grinned.
“Rowan taking a shot with his mortal enemy! I thought I’d never see the day” Rowan scoffed as he looked at her. “Why do you hate me so much?” She asked, as she signaled the bartender for another round.
When Rowan didn’t answer “No Rowan, please tell me, what your problem is with me.” Her humor had completely faded and she was staring dead at him.
Still Rowan didn’t answer. He couldn’t, not without starting some kind of argument that will go straight to Aedion, who would defend Aelin to his last breath.
“You glare at me, every second I’m in a room, practically growling like a hound as I near you. You must have some reason.” She flatty added as she took another shot, Rowan could tell she was getting more drunk by the second.
“Or maybe you don’t hate me Rowan, maybe you just hate every women since that bitch Lyria left you.” Hearing her name on her lips made Rowan stand so abruptly that the bar stool fell.
Aelin following suite, standing face to face with Rowan, as he towered her, she still didn’t falter a step. As if she had no fear of him, unlike most people when confronted with a muscle man easily passing 6’5 tall.
“Don’t. Say. Her. Name.” Rowan huffed out.
“Well there has to be a reason.” She said crossing her arms, she had no doubt won in riling him up enough to burst.
“Maybe it’s because you use Aedion to every advantage. Maybe it’s because you don’t give a shit about anyone but yourself. Maybe it’s because you ruined Aedion’s life when you moved here. Maybe it’s your fucking attitude, like you’re better than everyone else, when in fact the only reason you’re in that first class school is because mommy and daddy paid for you to get in.” His words were tumbling out before he could stop them and he already regretted bringing up her parents as he remembered they both had died last year.
Aelin’s face hardened into rage that he’d never seen before. “You have no idea what you’re talking about.” She spat, nearly yelling.
……
Rowan woke with a pounding headache and refused to open his eyes for a minute before realizing there was a weight draped across his abdomen. Squinting in the morning light he looked down to see a tan thigh draped across his middle.
One night stands are nothing new to him but to have one that he has no memory of was definitely new.
Rowan looked over to see a woman with long blonde hair draped over her face, completely bare from what he could tell as she lay on her stomach.
That’s when prior nights’ events hit him like a blow…. The screaming the crashing of tongue and teeth, the free capability to go hard and deep with someone who could take it.
It was indeed Aelin sleeping next to him.
Authors note: Hi. I recently started dating again and I’m definitely in a “fuck love” kind of mood.

Random question but did you ever see the attempt for a Veronica Mars season 4 right after 3? The fbi episode where she was working as an undercover? Why did they cancel it? I think they released the episode and nothing more and the movie mentioned NOTHING OF IT.
Yes, I think it was rob’s last ditch attempt to get a 4th season so they jumped some time ahead but the cw didn’t like it and thus it was dropped. Officially it is not canon, more like an alternate universe.In the movie Leo does say I heard you were with the FBI or something along those lines, which was a nod to that short episode but ultimately nothing came of it. Veronica was still technically a suspect in baby Lilly’s kidnapping so I don’t think she could work for the fbi, logically but I also don’t think Leo being fbi makes a lot of sense either lol :)

My heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love this
Waking Up Beside You
Waking up to the sight of his beautiful wife, his mate, sleeping peacefully next to him was something Rowan would never get tired of. He, of all people, had the privilege of brushing her long golden hair back from her face when it got stuck in her lips as she munched on imaginary foods in her dreams; the privilege of hearing her soft snores when she was particularly exhausted; the privilege of seeing her nose scrunch as he kissed it gently; the privilege of having her snuggle into his side, seeking warmth and his reassuring touch on her back; and most importantly, the privilege of watching her chest rise and fall with every breath she took because she was alive.
There wasn’t a day that went by that Rowan wasn’t thankful to be with Aelin. He’d desperately inked out his hope for Aelin’s salvation in the tattoo on her back, hoping beyond hope that she would find her way back to him. Rowan got choked up just thinking about a life- a world- without Aelin. Swallowing hard and blinking back his tears, he wrapped a protective arm around Aelin, pulling her as close as he could to his chest and kissing the top of her head.
Sensing the shift in his emotions as well as the shift in their positions, Aelin slowly opened her eyes, peering into Rowan’s pine green ones. “Rowan? Is everything alright?” She brought her hand up from where it had been resting on his side, caressing his cheek gently.
Rowan stroked Aelin’s back soothingly, bringing comfort and reassurance to the both of them. “Everything’s more than alright, Fireheart. You’re here, and I’m the luckiest male in the world to be able to say that.” He placed another gentle kiss on her nose just to watch it crinkle. “You look beautiful, by the way.”
Aelin batted at his chest lightly. “With my morning breath and tangled hair and all, I’m sure I’ve looked better. But thank you for saying that.” Her face broke into a gentle smile. “You look beautiful as well, Buzzard.”
Rowan closed the remaining gap between their lips, capturing hers in a sweet, loving kiss. “I love you, you know. Morning breath, tangled hair, and all.”
If Aelin hadn’t already believed every word he said and felt the truth of it in her very bones, the look in Rowan’s eyes would have been a dead giveaway. As it was, Aelin’s breath caught at the intensity of his gaze, his green eyes full of absolute adoration and love. “I love you, too.” She kissed the spot right between his eyebrows. “Furrowed brow, scavenging tendencies, and all.” She squealed as Rowan tickled her for that joke at his expense, fingers trailing across her sides, her neck, and the backs of her knees.
It was like music to his ears; Rowan loved the sound of her laugh. He loved the way she squirmed when he tickled her. His heart swelled with joy and warmth and that ever-present gratitude.
“Mercy, mercy!” Aelin giggled as she held her hands up in surrender.
Rowan caught her hands in his, placing them on his bare chest. “And what do I get for stopping the tickle torture?” He grinned mischievously, his eyes twinkling.
Aelin scooted closer, pressing every inch of her body up to his. She slid both her hands up Rowan’s chest, locking them behind his neck. “Anything you want,” she whispered before pressing her lips to his.
~~~
Lol idk about that ending I just wrote but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’ll have to do (time to sleep).
Anyway, I’ve decided to join in on @nalgenewhore and @shyvioletcat‘s fluff week (although I’m prob just gonna be writing Rowaelin). Thanks for the push! I’ve been meaning to write for a while now.
Fake Smile
Rowan x Aelin
Chapter 10
Rowan had been having a pretty shitty week and he had no one else to blame but himself. With him basically braking up with Aelin on Monday, every day since he’s been trying to keep himself away from her. Not to mention he couldn’t even stand to be in the same room as his boss Maeve knowing what she did to Aelin. He took every opportunity to escape his office, taking all Maeve’s request to go see investors regardless of how much he hates negotiations.
Snapping at everyone he made contact with, even giving Lorcan a run for his money on being the brute of the office.
“Whitethorn! What the fuck is wrong with you?” Lorcan spat after Rowan had slammed his fist on the table the second time today.
“I’m fine!”
“Like hell you are! All week you’ve been pissy.”
“I said I’m fine!” Rowan barked.
Lorcan turned his attention to Fenrys, “You know why hes like this?”
Fenrys gave him feral smile that gave him his answer.
Fenrys seemed to get over his and Rowans argument a lot faster than Rowan. Gone back to normal in about a day, Rowan on the other hand had half a mind to punch Fenrys for getting into his head and ruining the one good thing he had, or punch himself for letting him.
Rowan wanted to jump across the table to take down Fenrys smile but decided against it so he merely stood violently, so hard his chair flipped and escaped the stifling room.
He knew he had to fix this before he would quite literally destroy everything in his path.
…
Aelin spent most of the day running, getting ready for the rehearsal dinner tonight, she wanted to look the best she could because she knew the dress she’s wearing would show every curve of her body. Even though its summer, Aelin couldn’t not wear the beautiful black long sleeve dress that hugged every inch of her body. She knew she looked like a goddess in that dress and she was so excited to be wearing it.
This week Aelin had just felt numb. Not caring about anything at all, but today she decided to fake a huge smile for her cousin and her best friend. With Aelin’s long blonde hair down and in curls, Lips painted red, eyeliner winged out, she wanted to make herself look gorgeous.
Right before the dinner was set, everyone was standing around mingling. Aelin was working on a glass of wine watching the room until someone came up to her. A man so beautiful, Aelin almost choked on her wine. His eyes a deep blue, his hair a dirty blonde that complimented his tan skin perfectly. He was exquisite to say the least.
“Aelin?” The man asked. Aelin couldn’t do anything but nod.
“My name’s Archer. I work with Lysandra” then the realization hit as Aelin shifted her eyes to Lysandra who’s standing in the corner with Aedion, smiling like a fiend as she winked at Aelin.
“Hello Archer, my name is Aelin.” She said smiling as he held out his hand to shake.
“I’ve heard a lot about you.” Archers eyes were utterly captivating as she shook his hand and let go.
“All bad things I bet” Aelin jokingly retorted.
Archer laughed a low chuckle. “No but Lysandra didn’t do you justice when she said you’re pretty…. You’re one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever seen.” Aelin knew her cheeks must have turned as red as her lipstick at his compliment.
“You’re not so bad yourself.” She shyly said. Archer gave her a smirk that she knew was his way of saying Oh he knew.
“I know the dinner is about to start so I thought I’d ask you now before all the commotion starts…” Oh no. “Would you like to get coffee with me some time?”
Aelin was already trying to think of an excuse when she felt a large hand being placed in between her shoulder blades and sliding over her shoulder. She didn’t have to look up to know who the low voice was coming from above her.
“Sorry man she has a boyfriend.” Rowan said shamelessly.
Aelin noticed Archers smile fall as he took in Rowans large form and his possessive arm draped over her shoulder. “Oh sorry I didn’t know.”
Aelin finally looked up at Rowan to glare at him as Archer walked away. “What the hell are you doing here?” She whispered trying not to cause a scene of pushing him off her, she let him leave his arm.
Rowan bent his head down slowly to whisper in her ear “I chose you.”
Her heart stopped completely.
“I’m an idiot and I’m yours.” He lifted his face to look at hers as if his statement was a question.
Aelin nodded with a small smile on her face.
Rowan grinned widely before pulling her in closer to his side and kissing her temple.
Aelin didn’t notice there were people standing in front of them until she heard them clearing their throat. Aedion and Lysandra were staring dead at them, Lys with a gaping mouth of surprise and Aedion with a glare.
Aelin realized they were waiting to be introduced.
“Rowan this is my cousin Aedion and his soon to be wife Lysandra. Aedion, Lys, this is Rowan.”
To Aelin’s surprise Rowan left his arm on her, only shifting the other to shake Aedion’s hand.
Aedion lifted a brow in contemplation “Wait Rowan… Whitethorn?”
“Yes that’s me” Rowan answered with a polite tone.
“I’ve heard some legends around the base about you Rowan.” Aedion smiled.
“Oh I had no idea you’re stationed here” Rowan claimed.
“I am. So Rowan, how do you know my cousin?” Aedion’s tone was nothing but layered with curiosity.
“She’s my girlfriend” Aelin almost spat out the wine she was gulping down. That’s the second time hes insinuated they were in a relationship. She didn’t know how to take all that in.
Lys seemed to have the same sentiment as Aelin, being utterly shocked of his proclaiming by the look of shock on her face that turned into a huge smile.
While everyone found places to sit, Rowan remained by Aelin’s side, pulling out a chair for her and taking a seat next to her.
As the dinner started and the speeches were made, Aelin felt tears prick her eyes as Aedion spoke of his love for Lysandra. That after years of him being in service, she’s stuck by him and waited for him. The love they feel for each other was visible and beautiful.
Aelin felt Rowans hand graze her thigh giving her goose bumps. He remained staring at the people giving speeches but his hand found its way to hers. Interlacing his fingers with hers under the table, Aelin’s smiled as she noticed his slightly raised corners of his mouth.
As the dinner finished, Rowan kept by Aelin as she said her good nights to her friends. It wasn’t until they were outside that she felt him shift and pull her against a wall.
Rowan braced a hand on the wall next her face as his body held her in place.
“Hi” she said with a smile.
“Hi” Rowans eyes remained staring at her lips then made their way down and back up. “You look so fucking beautiful tonight. I’ve missed you”
But before Rowan could lean in to kiss her, Aelin laid her hands flat on his chest halting him.
“Not here.” Aelin giggled as he huffed air out in disappointment. She took his hand to lead him to her car.
As she drove home, she felt his eyes all over her, as if he were trying to remember every inch of her. Making a mental note of how she looked to keep in his mind to remind him later.
When they finally arrived to her apartment, his hands were all over her. Right as she closed the door, he scooped her up and took her to her bed room.
As he set her down she notice his eyes filling with lust as his gaze went down her form.
“This dress is way too perfect for you rip it off. Don’t even dare.” She said as she knew he otherwise would. Rowan held his hands up in submission as he laughed.
Aelin pushed him lightly, motioning for him to sit on her bed. He took the hint and sat in front of her.
Aelin stood in between his legs reaching for his face as she bent down to kiss him. A hot deep kiss. She backed away leaving him to growl in want. She gave him a smirk as she turned and unzip her dress from the side. Gazing back at him as he rubbed his lips watching her every move, like a predator watching his pray. She slid out of her dress agonizingly slowly moving her hips side to side exaggerating every movement. Just an arm’s length away from him she could tell he was hold on a thin string of self-restraint to reach for her. She smiled as she took off her heals leaving just her lace undergarment, if it could even be called that, they were tiny, not even cover her ass.
Aelin removed the remaining space in between her and Rowan, his eyes hooded with want she laid kisses to his jaw as she let her hands run up and down his chest before removing his jacket for him. Then unbuttoning his shirt still so so slowly. Rowans chest was heaving as she was so near to him, touching him but yet not. Aelin was in control and she was taking it all so slowly.
“Aelin” He growled.
Her name coming from his lips snapped something in her. She pushed him abruptly so he was laying in front of her. His eyes remained on hers as she unzipped his pants. Her mouth watered as she pulled out his cock. He was hard and his pants were already bursting at the seams when she reached for him but she’ll never get used to his size. No matter how many times she is with him, she will never be used to him.
Rowan let out a guttural moan as she licked the tip, with his eyes still locked on her she decided to do it again. Rowans head fell back as he said her name. Aelin took that for her start to take his member inch by inch down her throat. Rowans hands flew to her hair, his fingers tangling in her strands as she went up and down. Aelin let out a moan as she was listening to the sounds he was emanating. To know she was the reason had her reaching for her own clit. She slid out of her panties as her mouthed still moved on him. She began to rub herself lightly as she knelt before him.
“Aelin I’m going to-” As this was the time to decide if she wanted to swallow or allow him to eject somewhere else. Aelin chose the former as she wanted the taste of him on her tongue. She wants to have the taste of him like he has a taste of her.
Aelin fastened her pace and he let out a grunt as she felt his hot fluids run down her throat.
Rowan snapped upwards and pulled her up spinning her so she could have her back to his chest she sat on his lap as he kissed down her neck.
His hand made lazy strokes down her side as it made its way in between her thighs. She let out a moan laying her head back on his shoulder as he rubbed her clit and made biting kisses on her neck.
“Your mine.” His low voice sent a jolt of pleasure as his gripped tightened and his fingers depended. Aelin whimpered as his pace quickened.
“I’m yours” Aelins voice was nothing but a gasp as she reached to take his face to hers.
His hands were sinful on her, producing sounds shed never heard herself make. The possessiveness of his touch left her wanting for more and more. The tension in her body building as his member hardened under her.
Her body could have been on fire, she would not have cared, his touch on her had the whole world spinning. She let go of all sense of time and thought as she let go. With only his fingers and his mouth on hers being the cause of such pleasure.
Aelin nearly screamed his name as he slipped his fingers out of her. Rowan Turned his body and pushed her deeper on to the bed. He climbed on top of her with her still breathing hard he took her lips to his. Roughly kissing her deeply as he nudged at her entrance.
Finally, after a moment Aelin gasped as he entered her.
The night ended with her body entwined with his in a hot mess. Aelin couldn’t be more content.
Fake Smile
Rowan x Aelin
Chapter 9
“WHAT THE FUCK? YOUR DATING HER” Fenrys roared barging into Rowans office. Rowan didn’t shift his face from his computer. “WHITETHORN”
“What?” Rowan answered flatly finally looking up.
“Aelin! You asshole!” Fenrys barked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Rowan tried not to smirk but as the weekend’s events flashed over his eyes he couldn’t help it. Aelin and Rowan spent the whole weekend cooped up in his apartment, not even venturing out for food, having delivery and movies on his tv in the background as he couldn’t even keep his hands off her, kept them both in bliss until the hard hit of Monday morning had him leaving her in his bed so he could go to work. He desperately wanted to stay, but with the deadline coming up he just couldn’t risk a setback.
“Don’t play dumb! She was here!” Fenrys clutched his hands on his sides nearly shaking. Rowans face fell as he realized Fenrys normal goofiness was replaced by rage.
“How do you know that?”
“Your assistant was blabbing off about a cute blonde waiting in your office. What the hell Rowan! You were the one telling me not to go after her.”
Rowan knew he was truly fucked and couldn’t act like he didn’t know what Fen was talking about. “You need to calm down, you had like two conversations with her.”
“Yeah! And I liked her. You dick. The one girl you date. REALLY?” Fenrys snapped back. Rowan knew Fenrys was mad but he really didn’t have to be this loud or aggressive. Rowan didn’t owe him an explanation so he just kept his face blank.
“We’re not dating.” Rowan truly didn’t know what he was doing with Aelin. Every day Rowan felt more, cared more. It hadn’t hit him that they hadn’t labeled it.
Dating? He hasn’t even taken her out.
Together? No he hasn’t had that conversation with her.
Just fucking? Nope he knew he had feelings for her. Deeper than lust.
“Oh? You’re just fucking her? Fuck you dude. You could have anyone. You could have your damn assistant!” Rowan clutched the papers on his desk to keep from throwing something at Fenrys.
Rowan calmed his nerves and set the papers down as he calmly said “Aren’t you hooking up with the girl from Human Resources? You have like four girls you like at once. Go find someone else. Don’t come at me like that because Aelin didn’t want you.”
“And what? She wants you?” Fenrys scoffed and Rowans blood started to boil. “She’s like half your age. You’re an old brute. All you’re going to do is hold her back and waste her time. You just want her because she’s a new shiny toy. You’ll drop her as soon as you get bored.” Fenrys had already slammed the door behind when Rowan threw his stapler.
Hours later, Rowan still couldn’t focus, barely able to do his work as his mind kept going back to the words Fenrys spat at him.
“You’ll hold her back.” “Waste her time.” Rowan tried not to think about how she truly was much more than he thought. She’s witty, wicked smart, kind, and she opened up to him. Rowan hasn’t had many people open up to him much less him to others. His appearance, his hight, his bulkiness, his tattoos, his ever so firm resting angry face scared people away. He liked it that way. Seeing people avoid him in the streets, avoid his eye contact as he spoke, or people down right being intimidated fed his ego.
But she was never intimidated by him, everything that drove people away from him just lured her in. Aelin was some kind of light, a fire and he couldn’t bring himself to realize he’ll be the one to snuff out her spark.
Rowan knew he had to let her go. Let her be happy with someone near her age, that could share the life experiences that will shape her into a beautiful woman. Rowan didn’t want to admit it but he knew Fenrys was right.
Rowan finally had the inkling to call her as he left his office. He had avoided all her calls and text as he mulled over the words from Fen. Didn’t even want to read the messages she left him as he dialed her number.
“Hey baby.” Aelins voice was light and airy as if she’d been waiting for his call all day. Rowan clenched his jaw as his heart strained.
“Aelin.” Rowan couldn’t bring himself to say anything else.
“Rowan, what’s wrong?” As if just the sound of his voice gave him away. As if she knew the change of his voice by heart.
“We can’t do this anymore. Aelin we can’t see each other.” Rowan was trying to keep still as he sat in his car, still parked at his office.
For a moment Aelin remained silent. Like she was letting his words settle into her, letting the words enter her heart slowly.
“Why?” She finally spoke, almost a whisper.
“You deserve so much more than me. Aelin I’m too old for you. I’ve lived already and you haven’t.” Rowan let out a deep breath as he spoke.
“You’re only seven years older than me what are you talking about?”
“Aelin don’t make this harder than it needs to be, we’ve only known each other for a month now.”
“You know what Rowan fuck you! I fell for you!” Aelin snapped. Rowan couldn’t believe what he just heard. As those word hit him like a brick in the face.
“I know you have feelings for me Rowan. I know you do. Don’t lie to me.” He couldn’t lie to her he couldn’t tell her he had not felt anything for her. “I know my age. I know yours. I have no problem with it. It seems like you do.” Its more than that. “Rowan don’t act like youre doing this for me. You’re doing it to keep you’re piece of mind. I get it. But im tired of this game Rowan. I’m tired of wanting you and you running away. Pushing me away and pulling me back in. Rowan choose to have me or not to. Choose me or don’t. Figure your shit out!” he heard the click as she hung up.
Rowan couldn’t help but punch his steering wheel enraged.
….
Aelin threw her phone clear across the locker room when she hung up. What the hell was that? Why do this?
Aelin was just about to start training when Rowan called. She couldn’t help her big smile when she saw his name on her phone, her butterflies crept up as she answered and it was quickly ruined.
After a bit of training.
“Ow what was that for?” Aelin spat as Dorian smacked her on the face with his training glove.
“You’re not here Aelin.”
“What the fuck Dorian? Obviously I’m here.”
“No Aelin your mind is somewhere else. I told you when you step into this gym, when you train with me. You keep your problems at the door and train.” Dorian said as he smacked her again.
“Fine!” And before Dorian could block, Aelins gloved fist came flying to his face. Ignoring the training glove completely.
“Okay not to my face but yes please focus.” So Aelin gave it her all.
After about thirty minutes of fighting, Aelin had finally stopped for a brake.
“Dorian I need you to come to Aedion’s and Lysandras wedding with me”
“Are you asking me to be your date?” Aelin rolled her eyes as he smirked.
“Uh I guess”
“Aw I’m sorry. I was invited and I already asked Mannon…. Aelin don’t make that face.” Aelin didn’t realize she scrunched up her nose at the mention of her old opponent.
“She acutely likes you, you know. Aelin give her a chance. It wasn’t her that beat you up in the alley, it was her damn following.”
Aelin had asked Rowan to the wedding a few days ago and he surprisingly said yes, even offering to go with her to the rehearsal dinner, it made her heart flutter how he wanted to be there for her.
Seems like plans changed so she’ll be going to both alone.
…
When Rowan finally got home, he actually went straight to bed. It seemed like today had been a little to exasperating so he made his way to his bed as soon as he was showered.
As he laid back he noticed his senses riling up, her sent was woven into his comforters. They had spent most of the weekend in his bed so he shouldn’t be surprised to smell her on it, he just didn’t think it would hit him so hard.
Rowan clutched the sheets to his face as he remembered her lips on his. Remembered his hands all over her, his tongue all over her. Remembered her moans, her saying his name so breathlessly.
Rowan picked up his phone and noticed he had three text messages and one voicemail from Aelin waiting for him.
TEXT: Hey baby good morning, I hope you have a good day!
TEXT: I saw this silver Hawk stuffed animal and thought about you.
(Picture attached)
TEXT: I know you’re busy, I hope you’re not stressed call me after work?
Voicemail: “Hey I know you probably won’t listen to this till later today but Im at lunch and I just wanted to say I want to see again Rowan.”
Rowan read the text and heard the voicemail at least hundred times before falling asleep. He tried, he really tried to tell himself what he did was for the best.
…
Aelins limbs were trembling as she took off her clothes in the locker room. She had gone harder than she had in months in the ring today. Telling Dorian “Again” after every break they had. They had been sparing for at least three hours before Dorian had grunted “ Enough”. She couldn’t help it. She needed to get all her stress out, her favorite outlet to let it all go. But tonight it had done nothing but make her arms and legs burn.
Aelin hated showering at the gym, the water was always freezing, Dorians father was so tight with his money he didn’t even buy a water heater. “it’s the best for my fighters” No hes just cheap.
Tonight though the freezing water hitting her bare skin was honestly a welcomed pain. Let all her limbs soak so the fire could ease. Aelin just stayed in the shower for an ungodly amount of time until she was shaking to the bone.
Fake Smile
Rowan x Aelin
Chapter 9
“WHAT THE FUCK? YOUR DATING HER” Fenrys roared barging into Rowans office. Rowan didn’t shift his face from his computer. “WHITETHORN”
“What?” Rowan answered flatly finally looking up.
“Aelin! You asshole!” Fenrys barked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Rowan tried not to smirk but as the weekend’s events flashed over his eyes he couldn’t help it. Aelin and Rowan spent the whole weekend cooped up in his apartment, not even venturing out for food, having delivery and movies on his tv in the background as he couldn’t even keep his hands off her, kept them both in bliss until the hard hit of Monday morning had him leaving her in his bed so he could go to work. He desperately wanted to stay, but with the deadline coming up he just couldn’t risk a setback.
“Don’t play dumb! She was here!” Fenrys clutched his hands on his sides nearly shaking. Rowans face fell as he realized Fenrys normal goofiness was replaced by rage.
“How do you know that?”
“Your assistant was blabbing off about a cute blonde waiting in your office. What the hell Rowan! You were the one telling me not to go after her.”
Rowan knew he was truly fucked and couldn’t act like he didn’t know what Fen was talking about. “You need to calm down, you had like two conversations with her.”
“Yeah! And I liked her. You dick. The one girl you date. REALLY?” Fenrys snapped back. Rowan knew Fenrys was mad but he really didn’t have to be this loud or aggressive. Rowan didn’t owe him an explanation so he just kept his face blank.
“We’re not dating.” Rowan truly didn’t know what he was doing with Aelin. Every day Rowan felt more, cared more. It hadn’t hit him that they hadn’t labeled it.
Dating? He hasn’t even taken her out.
Together? No he hasn’t had that conversation with her.
Just fucking? Nope he knew he had feelings for her. Deeper than lust.
“Oh? You’re just fucking her? Fuck you dude. You could have anyone. You could have your damn assistant!” Rowan clutched the papers on his desk to keep from throwing something at Fenrys.
Rowan calmed his nerves and set the papers down as he calmly said “Aren’t you hooking up with the girl from Human Resources? You have like four girls you like at once. Go find someone else. Don’t come at me like that because Aelin didn’t want you.”
“And what? She wants you?” Fenrys scoffed and Rowans blood started to boil. “She’s like half your age. You’re an old brute. All you’re going to do is hold her back and waste her time. You just want her because she’s a new shiny toy. You’ll drop her as soon as you get bored.” Fenrys had already slammed the door behind when Rowan threw his stapler.
Hours later, Rowan still couldn’t focus, barely able to do his work as his mind kept going back to the words Fenrys spat at him.
“You’ll hold her back.” “Waste her time.” Rowan tried not to think about how she truly was much more than he thought. She’s witty, wicked smart, kind, and she opened up to him. Rowan hasn’t had many people open up to him much less him to others. His appearance, his hight, his bulkiness, his tattoos, his ever so firm resting angry face scared people away. He liked it that way. Seeing people avoid him in the streets, avoid his eye contact as he spoke, or people down right being intimidated fed his ego.
But she was never intimidated by him, everything that drove people away from him just lured her in. Aelin was some kind of light, a fire and he couldn’t bring himself to realize he’ll be the one to snuff out her spark.
Rowan knew he had to let her go. Let her be happy with someone near her age, that could share the life experiences that will shape her into a beautiful woman. Rowan didn’t want to admit it but he knew Fenrys was right.
Rowan finally had the inkling to call her as he left his office. He had avoided all her calls and text as he mulled over the words from Fen. Didn’t even want to read the messages she left him as he dialed her number.
“Hey baby.” Aelins voice was light and airy as if she’d been waiting for his call all day. Rowan clenched his jaw as his heart strained.
“Aelin.” Rowan couldn’t bring himself to say anything else.
“Rowan, what’s wrong?” As if just the sound of his voice gave him away. As if she knew the change of his voice by heart.
“We can’t do this anymore. Aelin we can’t see each other.” Rowan was trying to keep still as he sat in his car, still parked at his office.
For a moment Aelin remained silent. Like she was letting his words settle into her, letting the words enter her heart slowly.
“Why?” She finally spoke, almost a whisper.
“You deserve so much more than me. Aelin I’m too old for you. I’ve lived already and you haven’t.” Rowan let out a deep breath as he spoke.
“You’re only seven years older than me what are you talking about?”
“Aelin don’t make this harder than it needs to be, we’ve only known each other for a month now.”
“You know what Rowan fuck you! I fell for you!” Aelin snapped. Rowan couldn’t believe what he just heard. As those word hit him like a brick in the face.
“I know you have feelings for me Rowan. I know you do. Don’t lie to me.” He couldn’t lie to her he couldn’t tell her he had not felt anything for her. “I know my age. I know yours. I have no problem with it. It seems like you do.” Its more than that. “Rowan don’t act like youre doing this for me. You’re doing it to keep you’re piece of mind. I get it. But im tired of this game Rowan. I’m tired of wanting you and you running away. Pushing me away and pulling me back in. Rowan choose to have me or not to. Choose me or don’t. Figure your shit out!” he heard the click as she hung up.
Rowan couldn’t help but punch his steering wheel enraged.
….
Aelin threw her phone clear across the locker room when she hung up. What the hell was that? Why do this?
Aelin was just about to start training when Rowan called. She couldn’t help her big smile when she saw his name on her phone, her butterflies crept up as she answered and it was quickly ruined.
After a bit of training.
“Ow what was that for?” Aelin spat as Dorian smacked her on the face with his training glove.
“You’re not here Aelin.”
“What the fuck Dorian? Obviously I’m here.”
“No Aelin your mind is somewhere else. I told you when you step into this gym, when you train with me. You keep your problems at the door and train.” Dorian said as he smacked her again.
“Fine!” And before Dorian could block, Aelins gloved fist came flying to his face. Ignoring the training glove completely.
“Okay not to my face but yes please focus.” So Aelin gave it her all.
After about thirty minutes of fighting, Aelin had finally stopped for a brake.
“Dorian I need you to come to Aedion’s and Lysandras wedding with me”
“Are you asking me to be your date?” Aelin rolled her eyes as he smirked.
“Uh I guess”
“Aw I’m sorry. I was invited and I already asked Mannon…. Aelin don’t make that face.” Aelin didn’t realize she scrunched up her nose at the mention of her old opponent.
“She acutely likes you, you know. Aelin give her a chance. It wasn’t her that beat you up in the alley, it was her damn following.”
Aelin had asked Rowan to the wedding a few days ago and he surprisingly said yes, even offering to go with her to the rehearsal dinner, it made her heart flutter how he wanted to be there for her.
Seems like plans changed so she’ll be going to both alone.
…
When Rowan finally got home, he actually went straight to bed. It seemed like today had been a little to exasperating so he made his way to his bed as soon as he was showered.
As he laid back he noticed his senses riling up, her sent was woven into his comforters. They had spent most of the weekend in his bed so he shouldn’t be surprised to smell her on it, he just didn’t think it would hit him so hard.
Rowan clutched the sheets to his face as he remembered her lips on his. Remembered his hands all over her, his tongue all over her. Remembered her moans, her saying his name so breathlessly.
Rowan picked up his phone and noticed he had three text messages and one voicemail from Aelin waiting for him.
TEXT: Hey baby good morning, I hope you have a good day!
TEXT: I saw this silver Hawk stuffed animal and thought about you.
(Picture attached)
TEXT: I know you’re busy, I hope you’re not stressed call me after work?
Voicemail: “Hey I know you probably won’t listen to this till later today but Im at lunch and I just wanted to say I want to see again Rowan.”
Rowan read the text and heard the voicemail at least hundred times before falling asleep. He tried, he really tried to tell himself what he did was for the best.
…
Aelins limbs were trembling as she took off her clothes in the locker room. She had gone harder than she had in months in the ring today. Telling Dorian “Again” after every break they had. They had been sparing for at least three hours before Dorian had grunted “ Enough”. She couldn’t help it. She needed to get all her stress out, her favorite outlet to let it all go. But tonight it had done nothing but make her arms and legs burn.
Aelin hated showering at the gym, the water was always freezing, Dorians father was so tight with his money he didn’t even buy a water heater. “it’s the best for my fighters” No hes just cheap.
Tonight though the freezing water hitting her bare skin was honestly a welcomed pain. Let all her limbs soak so the fire could ease. Aelin just stayed in the shower for an ungodly amount of time until she was shaking to the bone.
Fake Smile
Rowan x Aelin
Chapter 8
It’s been four days since Rowan and Aelins little sleep over and every night since Rowan has found a reason to come over. Aelin loved every second of his company, every night Rowan would show up with some kind of excuse to see her. They’d spend most of the night talking then it would turn into other things.
For the first time this week, Aelin woke up before Rowan. She let herself stare at his sleeping face for a minute, taking in the silver hair, muscled arms and chest, for a moment she wanted nothing more than to stay that way but her arms started cramping so she tried her hardest not to wake him as she untangled her limbs from his. She sat up at the edge of the bed to roll her shoulders and stretch her arms until she felt broad hands slide around her waist, and legs shuffling around hers. Rowan was sitting directly behind her as she could feel his breath on her neck.
“Good Morning.” His low morning voice sent chills up her spine.
Aelin turned slightly to kiss his lips and say “Good morning to you too. I beat you this morning.” Her smile turned into a smirk as he chuckled against her lips.
“I see that. Not by much I bet.” Rowans lips went back to her neck as he trailed kisses downward but when he suddenly stopped, Aelin frowned. “Let’s go out tonight.”
“Like an actual date?” Aelin didn’t hide the surprise from her voice.
“Yes” Smiling as he laid another kiss just below her ear. “Is that so surprising?”
“No it’s about time. I’m surprised you took this long to show me off”
Rowan threw his head back and laughed hard giving Aelin a warm feeling in her core.
“Well I might have to work late. I’m not sure. Want to meet at my office? We can leave from there”.
Aelin nodded and the plans were set.
Aelins nerves were set pretty high the whole day as she thought about what would come tonight. She actually went to Lysandra for advice on what to wear. Aelin had never felt so concerned with her looks but for some reason she really wanted to feel beautiful.
When six in the evening rolled around Aelin walked in to the huge building called “MV Tec”. She felt out of place, awkward around the well-dressed men and women who all made an obvious glance her way. She knew it was a mistake to wear the dress Lysandra suggested. Aelin wrapped her arms around herself as she tried to find Rowans office, which he had sent her directions to earlier that day so she wouldn’t need to ask anyone.
As she rounded a corner, she finally saw “Whitethorn” labeled on a door. Aelin knocked and opened it slightly to see him focused on a computer with an almost angry face.
“Yes?” His voice came out monotone and he still didn’t shift his gaze from the screen.
“Rowan?” Aelins voice came out a lot softer than she thought it would.
Rowan finally met her gaze and his face immediately lit up with a smile and a sparkle in his eyes. Aelin smiled as she realized she was the cause of that.
“Aelin. Sorry Ill only be few minutes. Please take a seat. You look beautiful by the way.” He said motioning her to the chair across from him.
Aelin sat and started to play with her fingers when the door burst open and Aelin turned to see a beautiful blonde with short hair stroll in with her eyes directly on Rowan with a bright smile.
“Mr. Whitethorn, Mr. Moonbeam called, said he’s leaving for the night.” She said a little too chipper.
Rowan didn’t remove his gaze from the screen as he responded “Thank you Remelle. I’ll be leaving for the night in a few minutes.”
The women finally met Aelins gaze and her face fell as she looked Aelin up and down before she left the office. Aelin smiled as she felt the jealousy coursing through the stranger’s veins.
After a few minutes Rowan finally stood and said “This project has been killing us. We’re putting the last touches to the prototype before sending it to the distributors. I’m sorry I made you wait. I thought I’d be done.” Aelin just nodded and stood.
As he made his way around his desk to her, someone came in. Aelin turned to see the long black hair, the purplish lips, the alabaster skin and Aelins heart stopped completely.
….
As Maeve walked in, Rowan felt more than saw Aelin’s demeanor completely change, her fist became curled up on her sides and her body tensed. He didn’t understand why she looked so frightened and angry at the same time.
“Did you finish the last of it?” Maeve said only looking at Rowan.
Rowan just nodded before motioning to Aelin. “Aelin meet the CEO of MV tec, Maeve meet Aelin-“
“Aelin Galathynuis” Maeve interrupted with a vicious smile.
Rowans brows furrowed before politely correcting her “Aelin Ashryver”
Aelin still hadn’t moved an inch or spoke a word.
“Going by your mother’s maiden name I see. What a shame Aelin, your father’s holds so much more power.” Maeves eyes were like daggers on Aelin and Rowan didn’t understand why.
Where had he heard that name? Galathynuis? It sounds so familiar. How did Maeve already know her?
Finally, Aelin spoke “I rather go by Ashyrver.”
Maeve clicked her tongue before responding “Pity”
Maeve turned to Rowan as she said “So Rowan, how do you know my dear niece?” Rowan couldn’t quite comprehend.
And that’s when the realization hit him in the face, Aelins father was Rhoe Galathynuis, one of the richest people in Terrasen, his shares in companies spread wide around the world, with millions of profits. Rhoe Galathynuis was the first to invest in MV tec, making his share of the company to be beyond imaginable.
Rowan didn’t quite know how to process the information that was just thrown at him so he didn’t respond.
“Well I see that you have plans, don’t let me interrupt, good night to you both.” And Maeve was gone.
Aelin didn’t move or speak, her eyes were solely on the ground as Rowan looked at her.
“Aelin….” She didn’t respond.
“Aelin” Again she didn’t so much as give a sign that she heard him.
Finally, he stepped in front of her taking her jaw in his hand so she can look at him.
“Aelin breathe.” He nearly whispered.
She finally let out a breath as he placed a steadying hand on her back to lead her to his car.
Aelin didn’t speak at all as they entered his car, it worried him, seeing her so uncomfortable. Something was wrong, he could tell and he didn’t know how to even start to help.
“Are you okay?” trying hard to break the stifling silence in the parked car.
Aelin nodded as her gaze remained looking out the window.
“Aelin” trying to get her to look at him, he took her hand in his.
“I’m fine.” She answered in a defeated tone.
Rowan didn’t want to push and he didn’t think she still wanted to go out so he made his way to his apartment still not removing his hand from hers.
“Where are we going?” Aelin asked after a moment.
“I didn’t think you still wanted to go out so I thought I’d just take you to my place and I can cook us dinner.” His heart sored at the little smile she gave him as she nodded.
After entering his apartment, he let her eyes roam before he could stop himself from pulling her into an embrace. For a heartbeat she didn’t move but he felt her arms go around his waist as she laid her head on his chest.
Resting his cheek on her head he murmured, “You don’t have to tell me about it, but know I’m here.” Aelin nodded as he let go of her so they could sit on his couch.
“It’s almost been fifteen years…” she said after a breath. “My parents died when i was eight years old. Maeve was my only adult relative at the time, I was supposed to go in her custody, but she didn’t want me. I only met her once. But I’ll never forget what she said to me.” As if in a daze “My life style isn’t fit for a child, you’re better off with someone else” Rowan put his hand around hers as she finished, “She dismissed me as if I were nothing to her. She didn’t want me, Rowan. They put me right in to Arowbynn’s hands…”
Rowan’s jaw clenched as he knew the life Maeve left her to. That all of that abuse could have been avoided if Maeve wasn’t so gods damn greedy.
“My father was the only reason her company rose off the ground, he gave her millions just to start with and when he died…. She made sure I wouldn’t get a penny of my inheritance. She had the best lawyers in the city fight for his money.” Her hand started to shake in his so he squeezed it gently to remind her he was there.
“That’s why law school is so important to me. I won’t let that happen to anyone else. I’ll fight for the people that have no hope. I never want to witness something like that again.”
“I’m glad you told me, Aelin.” Muttered as he scooted his body closer to hers so he could be right next to her.
Aelins eyes were burning into his as she said. “Rowan I trust you.” His heart almost shattered at the sentiment so he took her in his arms in a silent response.
He laid kisses along her jaw until finally coming to her lips where she opened her mouth to give him access. She shifted her thigh to lay on top of his so he took the invitation to grip her hips and slide her to his lap.
For a moment he stared in to her eyes as she sat on his lap, sliding a hand through her hair that had fallen on her face before laying more kisses on her lips.
Rowan slid his hands up her dress to caress her skin, making her let out a whisper of a moan. Aelin started to grind on him, making his member harder and harder by the second. Rowan reached for the bottom of her dress, nearly tearing it, he slid it over her head, leaving her naked from the waist up. Rowan kissed down her neck, to her chest, as she slid out of her panties, he felt her unzip his pants and let his manhood escape it prison. Rowan gripped her hips to help her lower herself on him, producing a grown from the both of them as he slid inside her.
As she rose and fell on him, she kept her face near his shoulder, causing him to hear her every breath against his ear. The sounds he was emanating out of her could have easily had him releasing in moments. Rowan let her have control, letting her control the pace as she gripped his shoulders throwing her head back, letting him have easy access to her neck.
After a while, Rowan couldn’t take her not being close to him so he slid his hands from her hips to her waist pulling her close to him. He knew she was close, he himself could release any second so he gripped her tighter to him as he gave her a few last hard thrust, causing her to moan his name in his ear. That alone was his undoing.
As he spilled himself inside her, Rowan could feel her walls clenching and unclenching as she gave out a last scream.
After what felt like hours of having her rest her forehead against his shoulder, both chest heaving as their breathing slowed, she finally slid off of him.
“I can guess that you’re hungry aren’t you?” he said with a smirk as she put her dress on.
She nodded as she laughed.
Fake Smile
Rowan x Aelin
Chapter 7
Aelin’s shift the next day had gone surprisingly smoothly, contrary to the night before, she had actually had a nice day. She worked from opening to closing, she was utterly exhausted by the end of it.
Aelin walked up the steps to her apartment until something caught her eye, a tall hooded figure turned the other way, waiting outside her apartment. Aelins nerves were set on edge immediately so she turned to run the other way until she heard a familiar voice call out to her.
“Aelin!”
Aelin turned to see the silver hair. “What the hell Rowan! You scared the shit out of me” she said loudly through gritted teeth.
Rowan gave her an apologetic look but said nothing.
“Why are you here Rowan? You can’t just show up to my place like that.” Aelin said as she fumbled for her keys out of her bag.
“I called you three times today.” Rowan uttered.
“I’ve been at work all day… plus you made it very apparent you didn’t want to see me, Rowan.”
Aelin opened her door and swung it open motioning him to enter.
She could tell something was wrong by the way Rowan was acting, he looked defeated, with tired eyes and slumped shoulders but still he said nothing as she closed the door behind him as he stepped into her apartment.
“Why are you here?”
For a second Rowan just stared at her and didn’t answer so she said it again “Why are you here?” more firmly
Finally, he let out a long breath and spoke, “I need to know, Aelin.”
“Need to know what?” she clipped back.
He said nothing so Aelin pushed past him and walked to the kitchen knowing he was on her tail. She hadn’t eaten a full meal today so she had no interest in standing at the door way all night.
Aelin opened the fridge and pulled out two beers, handing one to Rowan, opening and drinking the other before turning on the stove. Rowan took the beer but made no move to drink from it.
“Why did you move here?” He said as he stared at her moving around the kitchen to throw a meal together.
“I came in contact with my only family member, Aidion, my cousin, and found him here, I had to escape Arobynn so I moved about 10,000 miles away from him.” Aelin focused on heating the pan as she spoke to avoid eye contact. “I was only supposed to be here for a few months before moving to a university in Ewelle but Sam loved it here.” At the mentioned of his name, her stomach fell.
“Who’s Sam?” Rowans voice startled her out her memories.
“He… He was my best friend that lived in the same foster home… we moved in together here so I decided to go university in this city. “She couldn’t find the strength to finish so she gave herself a moment to breath, Rowan seemed to be doing the same because he reframed from asking her another question.
For a minute, the only sounds coming from the kitchen where they stood were Aelins movements of putting butter on bread on tossing it in pan on the stove.
“Is he the one in the picture that’s on your book case?” Aelin knew exactly what picture he spoke of. Aidion and Lysandra had taken Sam and Aelin around the city to welcome them to their new home. It had been one of the best days of Aelins life, she had never been so happy to be surrounded by her loved ones. She didn’t think she let go of Sam’s hand the whole day.
Sam died shortly after that picture was taken, it’s the last picture she has of him.
“Yes” Her voice broke a bit as tears started to prick her eyes. She kept her back turned to Rowan as her gaze was still on the pan.
“What happened to him?” Rowans voices was soft, softer than she ever heard him speak before.
Aelin whipped the tears away before she turned to him. “He died when we were both eighteen. I found him beaten to death in our apartment. The police never found out who did it.” Aelin didn’t meet his eye contact as she took another drink from the beer she had in her hand to keep her nerves steady.
“I’m sorry you lost him”
“Me too” she nearly whispered as she turned back to the stove to add cheese. She honestly didn’t feel like eating anymore but she’s not going to waste the food.
“He was the only other person in the world that understood what it was like in that house…” Aelin didn’t care that her voice was becoming hoarse from the tears “Arobynn used to pin us against each other, making us fight in the ring, Sam would let me win every time, knowing Arowbyyn would beat him for it.” Aelin didn’t know why she was letting all of this out, maybe it was the fact that Rowan did the same to the night before or the fact that she hasn’t spoken about it in four years. Aelin finally was able to look at Rowan as she kept speaking, his face was kept blank as he listened. “Arobynn used to always say he owned us. That for every cent he spent on us, we would pay him back. He would say that he was the best thing that ever happened to us.” Aelin took a breath before she could say her next sentence “The sick part is I believed him. For years I believed that I would be dead without him. That everything he did to me was justified. That I deserved every whip. Every punch. Every kick. He loved to manipulate and play with my mind. Made me hate everyone and everything. Sam was the only person who was able to get close to me.” Aelin smelled the toast start to burn so she turned and switched off the stove.
“The scars on my back…..” turning back to Rowan, “they’re a reminder. A marking to make sure I knew and everyone else knew that I belonged to him. That I’m his property, like a branding.” Rowans eyes flickered with what looked like rage and sympathy rolled in one as he braced his hands on the counter he’s been standing against.
Aelin was starting to feel her usual numbness after her tears so her last few words were cold and distant. “Every day I worry he’ll find me. That he’ll show up one day to collect payment or collect me. I’ll always wonder if that’s what actually happened to Sam. That it was my fault, if he hadn’t followed me here… he’d still be alive.”
Rowan finally stepped away from the counter towards her, taking her hand in one and wiping her tears with his other. And for moment they just stayed that way. His thumb a steady rhythm stroking her cheek as he cupped her face his other hand holding hers.
“It’s not your fault.” Rowan whispered.
Aelin let out a sob as Rowan fully embraced her in a hug. She rested her head on his chest as he stroked her hair.
After standing in his embrace for a while, Aelin calmed down enough to pull away. “I didn’t mean to just go off like that.”
Rowan gave her a half smile before saying “I wanted to know, Aelin. I want to know you.”
Aelin smiled back before walking to the couch with Rowan.
Rowan and Aelin sat on the couch for a few hours talking until Rowan reached over to her face to move a stray hair that had fell out her bun and that’s when she couldn’t take anymore.
Aelin took a leap of faith and leaned in to kiss him, surprisingly Rowan returned the sentiment crashing his lips to hers.
In moments his hands were trailing over the curves of hips to her waist to her ribs, running his fingers along her skin under her shirt set Aelin on fire. Aelin broke off the kiss to look into his pine green eyes, for a moment she was lost in them until she made herself rise from the couch. Rowans surprise was emanate on his face until she turned to him holding out her hand. He took it and followed her to her bedroom.
Once she closed the door behind her, Rowan’s lips were back on hers as he slowly reached down and graved the hem of her shirt pulling it off of her, Aelin did the same and they were both skin to skin, chest to chest as he lifted her up by her thighs and peppered kisses down her neck to her collar bone, coaxing a soft moan to fall out Aelins lips. His lips trailed downward as he sat on her bed, with her on his lap but Aelin pushed him lightly so he was now on his back as she straddled him, returning his earlier kisses to his jaw, his neck until he captured her lips with his.
Rowan twisted his body so he was now on top of her, his hand falling in between them to find that spot between her thighs, causing her to throw her head back as he stroked her lightly over her clothes, teasing her. She groaned as he finally unbuckled her pants and took them off her, taking her panties with them.
Rowan kept his lips on her as he rubbed his fingers along her slit but not daring to enter, Aelin groaned at that and she could feel him smile against her lips. “I want this to last, baby.” Aelin let out a tiny whimper and smiled at his new name for her.
Rowans lips trailed downward as he kissed down her throat to her chest, leaving biting kisses on her breast before stopping and looking up at her, his eyes hooded with want as he said “Gods, you’re so fucking beautiful.” Then before she knew it, all she saw was his silver hair bob in-between her thighs, throwing her head back as some of the pressure that was building up, finally released.
Aelin ran her fingers through his hair as he licked and rubbed her clit. She could hear him getting out of his pants.
Rowan climbed back on top of her, he braced himself on both elbows on either side of her face, face to face he looked into her eyes as if unsure, so Aelin reached up and pulled his face to hers, giving her tiny reassurance as he thrust into her.
She gave out a loud yelp as she realized how big he was and he was now seated in side her. Rowan let her adjust before bucking his hips back and thrusting, groaning as he hung his head low in the crook of her neck, licking and lightly biting.
They both climaxed together as the sun came up.
….
The next morning
Rowan opened his eyes to be in unfamiliar place, he looked around to see a very simple white wall room, he saw the woman sleeping next to him facing the other way. In the morning light he focused on her scars as she slept, now that he knew what they are and what they mean, he couldn’t help but tense his jaw as he trailed the three larger ones going along her spine.
Rowan lightly placed his finger tips on her back on the bigger scars, causing her to fidget in her sleep. He went up and down her spine until he was sure she was awake, he kissed the nape of her neck, her hair and her shoulder until finally Aelin turned to him.
Aelin looked at him with her gorgeous blue eyes, he smiled as she slid an arm around his waist and pressed her herself against him, he placed a hand on her back tracing shapes as she grumbled “How much would I have to beg for you and I to go back to sleep? We can have our moment in a few hours.”
Rowan let out a low laugh before kissing her forehead and saying “I wish I could sweet heart but I have to be at work in an hour.”
Aelin sighed as she untangled herself from Rowan. He didn’t realize the coldness he would feel in her absence but he decided to force himself to get up and pick up his clothes to toss on before leaving.
Before he left her room, Rowan laid a small peck kiss to Aelins lips as she stayed in bed.
Authors note: Okay so this was my first time writing smut. I hope you all liked it! Any tips would be great.
