As promised, here are my tips to bring balance to any space! 1) Simplicity~ simplify by decluttering. Less mess, less stress! Put things that you must keep, behind doors and drawers and give away things you don’t use. You won’t even notice it’s gone and you’ll feel 20 lbs lighter! Trust me! 2) Illumination~ lighting affects your mood. It’s important to be able to change the lighting in your space according to the mood you’re looking for. Bold bright warm lights energize you and make you more productive while dim lights slow you down and make you feel it’s time for bed. 3) Proportion~ the size of your furniture should be in proportion with the size of your room and should all balance with each other in a harmonious way. For example if you have tall ceilings you should have tall chandeliers and drapery etc to should of the height of the room. 4) Asymmetry~ asymmetry is just as important as symmetry. They both require a focal point with items on each side but with asymmetry you’ll want to put dissimilar items on each side that have the same visual weight giving the whole cluster balance. 5) Colour~ colour is one of my absolute favorites (if you hadn’t noticed yet :) Just like lighting, different colours have different effects on our mood. To bring balance they must be used according to the mood you are trying to evoke and most importantly, the proper hues should be combined for balance. 6) Texturize~ create different dimensions and emotions with textures such as combining rough wood with sleek frosted glass, big chubby blankets, cut velvet sofa and silk drapery just to give an example of a great texture mix. 7) Botany~ we need nature and the fresh air that plants brings, they revitalize us and bring life and beauty to any room! #balance #balancedlife #balancedhome #simplicity #illumination #proportion #asymmetry #colour #texturize #botany
