Finished piece
My piece represents sight in a form of abandonment my project was based on the idea of all the abandoned and vandalised buildings in my area in limerick I started off thinking to myself what can I do to show this and I realised that the best thing I could do is make the outside world look like a set piece
This idea was loosely based on 60-80s movie sets and I decided to recreate one but of some abandoned vandalised windows that have been sprayed and boarded up this idea was carried out with wooden frames and curtains along witn sprayed mdf and fabric
I used my graffiti to give it a more run down and eerie feel to make it look like someone has been there but doesn’t acc own it or belong this made me really look at my surroundings on Clare street especially when I was walking home in the dark that made it especially creepy
Over the last few weeks I have learned to work with new matierals and have new ideas given to me by other students and lectures whuch has helped my work grow and thought me new things I also learnt how to stick something out even if I don’t really have an interest which has made me change my mind on sculpture as a whole and want to keep it on
Finally my project shows my ability in woodwork even when it might not be the cleanest finish it gives a look at my ability to use tools , erect structures and think of ways to make it work along with learning new things such as dowel and glue . I really enjoyed this work and if I was to redo it o would try metal work and welding as I feel it would be a new challenge and give me a new skill and make my work more permenant and longevity wise a better project

Artist research Jeff koons
Koons was a modern artist who dealt mainly in popculturak works such as MJ and bubbles or balloon dog , what really stood out to me was how his work became so popular and exs pensive for something so simple with an balloon dog selling for 58 million
I liked koons ability to show minimalism and pop culture in his works as I think it showed a new age of sculpture straying from the detailed works of Rome and Greece but also from elements of modern sculpture that had no real image

AUGUSTE RODIN
I liked rodins work as he brought classical sculpture to the modern age unlike many others that carried it foward he had great attention to the human form as seen in “the thinker “
He is known for his ability to show realism and capture inner emotion in his works, he also did some smaller pieces such as eternal spring whych showed his range as a sculptor
Rodin worked with various matierals such as clay and marble and was able to use a mix on some of his work

Artist research Andy warhol
I really liked the way warhols contained many household figures along with other objects such as the soup his prints were very simple but yet stood out so much and this appealed to me as I do like doing simple work that catches eyes instead of overloading a piece with too many features and details but still give it meaning
Warhols work contains a lot of bright colours in some of his work and I also liked this as it really is appealing to the eye as it stands out more

STATEMENT OF MOVEMENT
Over the course of the semester I had many opportunities to try out areas in which we explored the concept of movement for me movement was sport something I have had a huge interest in since I was a child and still do I took this opportunity to show what sport rly meant to me and how I saw movement in it
Print: for me print was a great way to explore a new side of art that I had never rly tried and briefly touched last semester I thought the overall experience and process was very fun and I learned a lot from the tutors and the techniques which was good to know but I don’t think print was for me as it didn’t have the 3D elements I liked abiut sculpture or room for mistake
Photography: I didn’t enjoy photography at all I found it was really technical and overall not suiting me because I wasn’t good with the camera the work also didn’t suit my project idea which led me to avoid it on a positive I did enjoy pinhole photography as it was more simplistic and I liked the way y didn’t even need a camera
Sculpture: sculpture from day 1 bas been where the majority of my work has stemmed from and I think it suited my work best this semester as I found movement was a word most common with psychical 3d objects I really enjoyed doing it this semester and will pick it as my final choice
Overall I think I showed development and explored many of the different areas this semester that was containing my areas of discipline and I have really made up my mind as a result of this
