I love how I am not able to watch more than a couple of episodes of Mushishi in a day's time. Sometimes, just the one.

While there are excellent shows out there that encourage binge watching like there's no tomorrow, Mushishi gives you pause, a meditative pause, a welcome pause to just stop and listen and see and think and ponder upon, with its visuals and music, the sublime background score, the foley, the characters, the story and the overarching concept and philosophical themes.

While almost every creator in the world strives to make content meant to be consumed like hot buttered popcorn with its breakneck pacing and flow, Mushishi is like fragrant herbal tea, warm and comforting and peaceful and appetising and delicious and nurturing. You drink it slowly, unhurriedly, relishing every little sip. It truly nurtures the soul, the mind, the eye, the ears, it makes you introspect deeply, it makes you smile and cry and feel a quiet joy and sadness and nostalgia for things you haven't even experienced, and leaves you with a serene and poignant calmness.

It slows down time. Like the actual perception of time.

It's such a great feat to be able to do that. I can't thank you enough Yuki Urushibara, you are a gem in a million. And Artland, for adapting it while keeping close to the heart of this creation.
