It’s alpha week at my school and this is a photo of my dad and some pledges back in the 80’s. My dads the one in the gold coat, and he was in charge of those pledges. This is one of my favorite pictures of my dad to date! Happy founders week to the Alpha Phi Alpha - Eta Tau Chapter.

Really feeling this cause I had a similar situation

At the beginning of the school year I had the opportunity to pursue membership for the org of my dreams, unfortunately my GPA was .2 below. I made sure to focus extremely hard on my schoolwork and service so that the door may open again. Thankfully I've exceeded the required GPA and have seen the door begin to open again. I just wanted to thank you all for the motivation y'all (unknowingly) provided as well as the awesome advice. Y'all don't have to do it, but I'm grateful y'all do.

What are your thoughts on Virginia Tech's suspension of Alpha Phi Alpha, Theta Iota chapter?

I just read about it yesterday.  I only know one person from that chapter (and he coincidentally sent me a LinkedIn request last week).

If you are a regular follower of this blog, you know we never have any specific response to a suspension.  I mean year, suspensions suck and so do hazing.  But we weren’t there, so we’ll never really know what happened.  

I will personally pray for anyone who was impacted by this in any way, from the members who may theoretically have their lives forever altered by immature decisions, to the people who were allegedly victims and whatever trauma they may have experienced, to the leaders who are constantly distracted from bigger issues in order to deal with these matters.
