My name is more than just a title that people call just to get my attention.  It is a name to the world’s attention.  My name is JUSTICE.  Justice means different things to different people.  According to the dictionary justice means fair/just behavior, or a person who mandates fair treatment.   For my family my name was specifically chosen to stress the importance of fairness and equality for all.  My parents gave me this name because it was unique and has a powerful meaning.  I have always been aware to spread equality and fairness through out my daily life experiences.  I personally love my name! Usually I am involved with music, so whenever I can imply the meaning of justice in a tune I go for it!  It’s caries such an important meaning to the individuals and the world as a whole.  Back home in Atlanta, I am a member of the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church where Martin Luther King Jr. preached.  He often stressed the idea of achieving racial justice with out use of violence.  As I live every day, I continue to spread justice to others through the actions and decisions I make.  People often ask about my name because it is different, but it holds a great value that I am proud to represent.  As of now I don’t think I will name my children after me, but I will choose a name that holds true power.  I hope everyone will help and support others as we move through the current times, its all about equality and Justice for all!

The Yamaha Manu Katche Junior kit is one of my most prized possessions.   It is a three-piece custom drum set made by Yamaha in Japan.  I acquired this drum kit when I was three years old as a Christmas present from Santa.  This was one of the most exciting times of my life!  From that day on I knew I was going to become a musician/drummer. I started to play almost everyday and very soon started getting some gigs at the age of 5 or 6.  Some of these early performances included talent shows, local drum competitions, and even performing for the halftime show at the Atlanta Hawks basketball game. A few years later my brother and I created our own band called Anonymous and we started gigging frequently around Atlanta. Oddly enough the band is still together today and we continue to perform when we can.   As these gigs were rolling in, I started making money with these drums. As this became my lively hood, I continued to practice and work on my craft while performing with my band on the weekends.  Around the age of 9 or 10,  I had the opportunity to perform at Armature Night at the Apollo Theater.  I was very blessed to have this experience at a young age, and it opened my eyes to the world of professional music.  From the age of three to now, I continue to use this same drum set to make music and money.  Since this drum kit started my career, I would sell it for 5000.00$.

Have you ever experienced a surprising feeling of vibration at a concert or club?  This is most likely coming from a Shure Beta 52A microphone.   While some people my think of a microphone as nothing special, I see this specific one as a very cool tool.  Shure has been making and engineering microphones since the 1950’s.  The Shure Beta 52 is a dynamic microphone designed for low frequency sounds and instruments.  This is odd, because when people commonly think of a microphone they think that it’s for singing or amplifying a voice, which is true, but in this case there is more to it. You can usually see this microphone used in a variety of settings such as recording studios, clubs, and even arenas.  A cool fact about this tool is that it is very durable, so if you buy one it will probably last for most of your life!  Some instruments that these microphones are used to record and amplify are kick drums, bass amps, and even organs.  I currently use this microphone to record my drums and create a big low end sound during live shows.  This makes an extreme difference between feeling the bass and just hearing it.  The results of this microphone give the audience another objective to focus on. How the show can be felt, and not just how it sounds.  I personally enjoy performances more when the music is felt and heard and this Shure Beta 52 allows me to create that great feeling.  If you like big bass, you will love this microphone!

The Sterling Audio MX5 Studio Monitors are one of my coolest items I have on campus.  I picked up these speakers from a local music store the first week of school here at UM.  Being a musician and producer these are one of my favorite things to use.  It can be used in multiple settings for various purposes like as movies, general listening, and music production.  The various colors on these speakers are great to look at in a dark setting.  I currently have these in my dorm room and they fit perfectly in the setting.  These speakers are not too big and not too small. The 5inch woofers are the perfect size and get the job done!  When watching TV or movies with these speakers it enhances the overall mood and tone of the story.  It makes the audience feel what’s going on, instead of looking from an observational point of view. Listening to music on these speakers is a great experience because you are able to hear things in more detail, unlike headphones.  When it comes to producing music it is important that your monitors give you a flat and natural sound. The MX5 monitors they are great at giving me this “true sound”.  The Sterling speakers have a lot of range in sound given the relatively small size of the speaker.  The speakers have a big clear sound and are great for mixing.  These have become one of my main outlets for my musical ideas here in the UM dorms.
