Had to wait for the guy at Logan Hardware to finish his crucial shading before he could take my money for the Replacements and Kinks cassettes I wanted. #ihateverythingtoday (at Chicago, Illinois)

Los Angeles and Pasadena! I'm playing the Rose Bowl again next week on the 4th of July! I'll be there headlining the biggest 4th of July celebration in the world with Liverpool Legends! Nothing says America like guys with fake British accents. 55,000 people showed up last year! If you're around, get in touch. I'd love to see you! (at Rose Bowl Stadium)

A picture of Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Merle Haggard's sons closing the night with "I'll Fly Away". Absolutely amazing. Willie hasn't lost an ounce of his voice. (at RiverEdge Park)

Hot Topic won't carry vinyl anymore - which is great, because I don't want anyone seeing me amongst the dust in the back of a Hot Topic clearance section. The fact that the highest price a record can be in their close out is $10 is great, too.

You're asleep in the next room over, so I thought I'd sneak away. Happy 25th Birthday, Molly. The last 3 years have been completely insane - but well worth it. No one I would've rather shared it with. I'm appreciative of everything you do - and thanks for continually holding down the fort while I'm away. I love you - so much. Hope today was great for you, raccoon.

No human being has ever been this close to being the embodiment of a raccoon. Happy 25th Birthday, Molly Crystal Lake Lannin. Glad I could be around for a few days to try and make it the best it could be - hope I'm around for many more. Sorry for leaving Coke cans and used Kleenex everywhere constantly, and for the obsessive compulsive laundry. Glad you can legally rent a car without $400 in fees a week now. Hope it's the happiest of birthdays with many shoppings and wines. Love you. Please don't beat me up again, -Milhouse (at Carol's Pub)

There's some crazy aura behind a piece of music that's been sealed beyond 10 years. A lot of crazy things can happen in the world in the time it takes between an LP leaving a record store and the first time it's played (whether it's an hour or 30 years). There's some crazy part of me that appeals to. The fact that somebody would leave them untouched is a bit crazy to me, too... (at Elgin, Illinois)

The forces of high school rock circa 2005 reconvened last night in private consultation - whiskey was drunk; tacos were had. My honor, offended by the garçon who refused me steak & eggs in time of feast! So be it! The young men of the century! #coppertop #firstband #lovebuddies (at Burlington Bar)

Today I realized that I forgot that I play the guitar! Then when I remembered that I played the guitar, I realized that I'd forgotten that all of my guitars were broken! Ouch! But, don't worry! It's okay! I fixed them all! Now it's time to rock and roll! 🔥🔥😎🔥🔥 Tonight/@rapidsus/The Burlington/Chicago/8pm/$?? (at Grand Victoria Casino)

Sitting alone in my apartment with a record called 'International Pop Overthrow' playing, all the while casually glancing at this like an elephant in the room. Material Issue has meant a lot to me throughout me growing up with and through music. I was only 4 when Jim Ellison passed away - and do still remember hearing about it from my Dad and on the news. Today marks 20 years since he's been gone. 'IPO' was the first vinyl LP I ever (insanely) spent over $100 on (about $150 to be exact - my entire week's pay from the record store I was working at back then). For some odd reason, it made me feel a little bit closer to the band to own that physical record. After I bought it, that feeling turned into me trying to track down any and every piece of memorabilia that had to do with this band that I possibly could. Demo tapes, other records, signed stuff, guitar picks, and finally - this guitar. It used to be Jim's. He took his own life in 1996. Why, I'll never know. I also have no idea as to why he owned this small acoustic or what he'd used it for, if he'd used it at all - it actually only had 5 strings intact when I bought it. And that's okay. I didn't change them. This music that I follow and collect and pine over is such a massive part of my life. And this is the band that started it all for me - being a music collector junkie. I guess, my way of coping with something I never even got the chance to see, and a person I really admired that I'll never get to meet. I can hear him, but he's not around. I will forever love them - and the stories I hear about them from the Chicago locals I meet that knew and worked with the band. There's so much I still wonder about, and even more that I'll probably never know. I've had the good fortune to be around to hear Material ReIssue give people the chance to hear this music played live again (with a wonderful musician named Phil holding down the fort while Jim's away) twice - my second time was just a few nights ago. I still got choked up as me and my best friend sang through the entire set together - and I'm still getting choked up right now, alone in my living room. I'm okay. I swear I'm not crazy. For now, this is coping. (at Elgin, Illinois)
