in season one to

“Hey, Coach. Uh, there's been a mistake. I got me.”

and being disappointed that he didn’t get to be someone else when they were all swapping positions during training in season 3

Downton Abbey series 1

Episode 1 & 2 Downstairs.

Thomas: “There isn’t much of an “everyone” to get on with.”

the Anna and Thomas scene in 5x2 has me thinking about that moment in Season 3 when Anna sticks up for Thomas and says he has every right to be upset about Sybil because he knew her better than anyone downstairs

and Thomas goes, “you and me—WE knew her best.” Such a revelation for Thomas’s character…like he immediately wants to share that, he wants to be understood

and Anna holds her own and she doesn’t bullshit with anyone, but she is really good at getting people to be at their best and most honest, and it’s really just…Being Kind, that’s the secret.

plenty of things didn’t need to happen in the downton abbey movie but chief among them are:

1. the raid subitem A: manufacturing a reason for ellis to be separated from thomas so he can play big damn hero, when we could’ve gotten a scene where they went dancing together and had an actual uninterrupted kiss subitem B: forcing a gay character to shit-talk his own community and throw them under the prison bus, which i couldn’t even imagine Thomas doing, and I think he would be horrified to know that’s what Ellis did even if he knew he was lying

2. isolating thomas from almost all of the revenge scheming because that’s literally what he’s known for subitem A: i hate the way carson treated thomas as much as the next decent person, but they absolutely should’ve found common ground over the fact that carson was willing to go along with an underhanded plot to get back a bunch of snobby douchebags, and conflict resolution would’ve been way more satisfying bc they’ve been butting heads for six damn seasons. subitem B: you’re telling me anna legit drugged someone and helped lead a revenge plot and blackmailed a thief and there’s no mention of where she got these slytherin skills?? give me the scene where thomas sees all this and straight up weeps because he’s so proud.
