#I feel so empty#I'm not sure I've ever felt this bad#But I know my family would never help and I barely get along enough#With a majority of my friends to tolerate them for a holiday#But I also know the ones I cherish don't feel the same and that's starting to get to me#I don't think bedsides my birthdays I've ever felt so fucking down but oof#It's amazing I haven't genuinely put in a plan to off myself because I haven't felt this low in a couple years#And I tried then

why is it that movies directed by women about beauty standards and/or the state of being valued as a woman only for your looks/appearances are ALWAYS criticized for “not being feminist enough” (ex. barbie, etc.)
#The substance#I also wonder if people realize the genres films are made in are such for a reason#It's supposed to be horrifying to watch her do that to herself#And feminism does not mean the female main character is perfect or necessarily “Wins”#Media literacy and discussion is becoming soooooo disheartening to watch

Please take a moment to read this. A Canadian company wants to build a sulfide copper mine near Lake Superior, which holds 21% of the world’s freshwater. The mine would produce 98.5% toxic waste, stored in a dam just two miles from the lake. The dam can only withstand a 1-in-100-year storm, but the area has had two 1-in-1,000-year storms in the past decade. If it breaks, toxic water could flood the lake. Copper sulfide mines in the U.S. have consistently contaminated nearby water sources, and this mine could hurt local communities with lower employment, income, and property values. The company wants $50 million in taxpayer funding to move forward. The Michigan Senate is about to vote, if they don’t get the funding they can’t build it.

I wish that each and every one of us could have someone in our lives who would listen to us as attentively and without judgement as Digna did. Someone to guide us through the darkness of our doubts and fears, supporting our courage to grow stronger.
Although sometimes the novela made me roll my eyes at the easy solutions it found to difficult problems, I continue to marvel at the way it maintains narrative coherence. Despite her journey of revenge, Digna promised Isidro she'd look after Fina like a daughter and kept her promise. Marta will become a casualty of war but Digna will also be the one to catch her when she falls.
I can't praise this narrative enough. Its violence is unbearable in every way, not just in the graphic matter of abuse. We can draw parallels that go far beyond historical memory, because history - in its talent for repeating itself - has never stopped happening. The work that Marta B., Alba Brunet, Ana Fernandez and the writers have done here is of infinite pedagogical importance on the issues and variations of trauma and it saddens me that some people don't understand the context and are unable to interpret it correctly, although I believe that the discussion the episodes generate can shed light on some darker minds. That is the also the mission of fiction: to educate while entertaining.
There's a very important and easy-to-understand book about trauma. I read it out of a need to understand someone else, and in the end I had a better understanding of myself as well. I leave it here as a suggestion for anyone who might be interested.
Summary.
#All of this#It is annoying me to no end that there is so much anger towards Fina because of how this is affecting Marta#Where is the critical thinking?!?!#Of course our head strong and supremely proud Fina is going to be extremely changed and affected by this#She is going to second guess every interaction going forward because of him#And she feels beyond ashamed and “dirty” because of this#If you've never been harassed and felt similar i am glad for you but I can for sure attest to everything she's feeling#And not only that but she knows she was outed to a couple more people without her consent#I don't know this whole arc has me ready to fight#I do cautiously have faith and I'm hoping Marta and the girls get to have their revenge on him#Actually I would love if Jesus has no part but Andres and Damian help her and it shows her darker side without Jesus's grossness

I used to write you letters whenever I dreamt of you — but I could never send them to you, as you may be married with a family. Because those letters then piled up in my heart, it always feels like the first time when I write a new one. Time glided past while I hesitated... I was a coward. I ran away from you and still do.
