This is what our media and our government is trying to do to us. We can’t afford to believe that the people in Gaza deserve the genocide that is happening to them. There are children being murdered. Why is it never a serious point of discussion when it’s brown children? It was never worth doing anything for the Latine kids at the US border. It’s not a “big deal” when it’s black kids getting shot by cops. Just look the other way. Why do we not afford Palestinian children a childhood? Why are Americans missing a sense of the basic humanity of the Palestinian people? I refuse to be gaslit by this president and by the Israeli government. I’ve started contributing to medical aid for Palestine and seriously need to start calling my senators and representatives. This will not stand.
my coworkers, all of whom are white Christian women, said today that they think ANYONE of Palestinian descent should be deported to Gaza and then have bombs dropped on them.
They don’t know I’m Palestinian. I’m fucking terrified. We don’t have HR. I can’t lose my job. It’s crazy to me that they can spout genocidal bullshit but if I so much as mention my ethnicity they may turn on me and hate me.
I’m a patient care coordinator at a pulmonary practice. All I want to do is make sure my patients get the care they need and deserve. I’m the only care coordinator in my office. I’m great at my job. But it was so hard to focus today knowing that if my coworkers knew about one of the biggest aspects of my identity - one of the things about myself about which I am the most proud - they would stop seeing me as a person.
Fuck off with the bothsidesism. With the whataboutism. This is what the mass of propaganda and lies and anti-Arabism being spread in the media do. And I’m terrified.

Ok so at this point I've had two people roll up to me in manual wheelchairs, well, one of them was somebody pushing somebody who was nonverbal at the time, but it still counts. They asked me why I had zip ties around my tires.
It's winter where I'm living and we have really bad snow. And the snow plow people are really bad at their jobs probably because there aren't snow plow people who clean sidewalks. As a solution I got to thinking about how I could increase the traction on my wheels. And the most redneck thing I could think of was taking a bunch of zip ties and tying them around my wheels. They last surprisingly long, and work surprisingly well. It's basically the same premise as chains for your tires during the winter.
I chose to space them out pretty evenly so there's about one for every spoke. You could probably do more or less depending on how many you want and how much traction you get but I wouldn't go more than three per spoke. I realize that it's a bit later in the winter, and I probably should have made a post about this sooner, but I came up with it about a week ago. So please share this, even if you're not disabled, because there are tons of people I know who are stuck in their houses because they can't get around in the snow. A pack of zip ties costs about $5, which compared to $200 knobby snow tires is a big save, and if you want to invest you could get colored zip ties.

Careful, Sailor Mercury!
I’m still really enjoying these Irwin Sailor Moon dolls. I keep considering trying out other bodies that would look a bit more dynamic. My best ideas are Made to Move or Obitsu bodies with some neck modifications. Has anyone else worked with Irwin Sailor Moon and liked the result?

New friends! My Sailor Moon bug got the best of me and I treated myself to this Irwin Chibimoon. I also managed to snag a goblin from Pink Sprinkles Plush. I really love this guy. He appeared grumpy in the pictures, but has been nothing but pleasant since he arrived.

What have I been doing?? Carrying around one of these ladies.
I’ve had them since the early 2000s when I was delighted to find affordable versions with noses. They’re kind of under-articulated and their faces aren’t the best, but I need to finish my Star Darlings customization before embarking on a multi-doll project. So I’m going to have to enjoy them as is, which I honestly do! They are a bit nostalgic as the thing that drove me onto eBay at 13 was wanting to buy Sailor Moon dolls.

The New York Times. The place to go for unfortunate opinions.
I wish Terry had lived long enough to read this article that pointed out that Good Omens had aged much better than the unfortunate New York Times book review of Good Omens had...

Continuing to get Barbie Extra dolls has been a fun thing, but also more work than it should be. Mattel still has such bad quality control and the way they are printing the eyes these days is disappointing. Unfortunately, I still love the colors and styles of this line. Nearly every single doll has had something I’ve wanted—either a favorite face sculpt, a wonderful hair color, or accessories that were a delight. I still so enjoy how they look like a group of chaotic friends and I’m hoping to restart doing Extra makeovers.
