modern tobiizu au where izuna is usually known as a bit of a player, so its a big deal when he wants to introduce his family to his boyfriend. an actual, committed, relationship! they're all very excited to meet the guy

and then tobirama shows up and they're horrified to discover their beloved baby brother izuna is smitten with...a serial killer.

there's actually one in the area and everything so they're not exaggerating. they're pretty sure this guy wants to pop izunas eyeballs to eat them. he's extremely strange and vaguely threatening.

hikaku held out his hand to shake it and mid-shake the man, tobirama, used it as momentum to twist his arm around and peer very closely at a mole on his underarm. Then he told Hikaku to "get it looked at because it's probably cancerous", said something extremely condescending about sunscreen, mentioned it being a waste of "perfectly good skin", and by the time he finally let go Hikaku had bruised purple from his grip.

Izuna, when they brought this up later, described it as a swoon-worthy display of intelligence and compassion.

That's the real issue, actually- every red flag they point out Tobirama is desperately waving (His knife collection, his hobby being dissection- of frogs, and rabbits, Izuna clarifies, and Tobirama does not; his favorite book is silence of the lambs-) and izuna just points out that red is his favorite color and it looks beautiful in contrast to Tobirama's skin.

what they don't know is that the thing helping tobirama's case the most is that he actually isn't the local serial killer.

That would be Izuna.

Summary: Tobirama was a man who liked control…no, needed it. But it was the biggest betrayal when it felt like your body was rebelling. Yet, he had to remind himself that this body wasn’t just his anymore. Sharing is caring, but he wasn’t keen on playing good little host to disrespectful guests forced upon him, especially to ones who were hell bent on causing both his mind and life to spiral out of control.

The Uchiha compound was in shambles, a situation that left everyone confused, frightened and outraged. Thus, it was only natural to assume it was calculated rather than random, and in the wake so much destruction caused all eyes to fall on the Senju. Whispers and rumors a paint picture for the clueless and fuel the anger for the suspicious, or more specifically, Madara.

Meanwhile Tobirama suffered. It was little things at first that, within a blink of an eye, was falling out of his grip and out of the scope of his rational and understanding. Though a part of him lived in inescapable denial, in the light of the full moon, soon, teeth are bared, crimson eyes will carry a different meaning and he struggles to hold together fragmented pieces of the clan’s treaty, his mind and ultimately, his soul.
