NBA in 360 degree
Considering the previous topic hope. I think the difficulty of making VR games is limiting the development of VR. Therefore, this time I found high production VR works.
If visuals are the most important part of an immersive experience, then elaborate models, intricately built scenery construction are crucial for a game. But on the other hand, what if we could avoid this aspect and record real scenes directly? Panoramic 360 degree video caught my attention.
When I stumbled on youtube wandering, I found that the NBA actually had a 360 degree All-Star live broadcast 4 years ago. To be honest, as a replay, I think it's pretty good. This video gave me a feeling of being there, as if I was there. As opposed to a traditional TV replay, I can turn my head as much as I want and watch wherever I want? Especially since I also found Kobe's 360 VR video? That's really cool. However, it does make you feel a little dizzy after a long viewing.
To watch such videos we can wear VR glasses or use our cell phones for VR viewing. It does feel much better after not wearing VR glasses. It's really a VR challenge, probably because I'm more seasick in 3D.
In addition, I also checked out the NBA 360 degree panoramic live stream. In the live broadcast, there are several camera positions on the field, the audience can switch to choose to watch the game, but also can send real-time pop-ups for comment, although it is still in the testing stage, but such interactivity does let me add a few more points of interest.

Hope
That's right, it's still me, using homework as an excuse to experience the immersive experience of VR at home. Today's recommendation is the steam platform BONEWORKS.
BONEWORKS" is a VR adventure game. But what shocked me most is that the game uses a physics engine very close to the real experience, in the game, almost all the items are interactive, water cups, garbage cans, hammers, balls, guns ...... can even play basketball in it. This gave me a feeling that playing this game is equivalent to playing a gun simulator, basketball simulator.
About the plot of the game, I may be a hacker something or other ..... This game brings me more not to refer to the plot, but the physical world of the game. Who am I? Where am I? What am I going to do? The game doesn't have much to say about the background setting. It is the core of the game to feel, to operate and to practice by yourself.
Players have to follow the limited hints in the game, as well as the feeling of the game, and keep moving forward and exploring. However, these do not matter, the game's unique style, VR operation, close to the real world of interactivity, is what I feel most in the game.
I've played a lot of VR games before, both entertaining and artistically significant, but after playing once, I generally won't experience it again. Because of the limited content, the lack of interactivity, after trying all the content, it becomes uninteresting.
The actual reason behind this is: lack of cost performance. In today's era, a good VR device and game are mostly not cheap, if a game is only played once or twice, this is certainly a waste of money. Meanwhile, in terms of the market, no players means no investors, and no investors means no new games. The more immersive VR is often also strict to reality, players need to wear VR glasses for a long time, swinging and walking around in an empty room, which also limits the time duration of VR game play. BONEWORKS although also not completely solve these problems mentioned above, but in my heart I have seen hope, the game good interaction makes me fascinated by it, so that I am willing to spend time in the game to practice Various skills.

Put on VR glasses as a digger master
Do you have a male child at home?
If so, maybe don't ask him. Favorite dad, or mom?
Because, what he loves most is likely to be - excavator.
No man can resist the lure of the excavator, up to 99, I admit that there is an exaggeration here. But I am a big fan of the excavator, and will look at it for a long time when I see it.
By chance, at an open day at the University of New South Wales, I was in charge of demonstrating an engineering VR game. That's right, an excavator simulator.
It's a simple task where the excavator can't move and the player needs to shovel dirt into another hauler. Before the game, there will be a detailed tutorial on how to drive the excavator. Players will use two remote stick handle to control the excavator. The left hand controls the rotation of the driver's compartment, and the right hand is to control the robot arm as well as the excavation shovel. The game as far as possible to restore the operation of the excavator in a real situation.
So players enter the VR world, learn how to control the excavator by themselves. But the result may be unexpected, digging a big hole, or building a mountain.
Today, I found my excavator game again, comparing Excavator Simulator VR on the steam platform, and a Japanese Excavator Simulator VR, I found that they are indeed awesome.
Players can not only drive a moving vehicle and digging, but also generated a driver's operation assessment after the tour.

How much VR visualization technology will revolutionize education
Today I was reminded of a VR project I was in charge of presenting at university, Math Vector VR.
The author of this project was Matt, and I was his assistant at that time. I was very impressed by this project, as soon as we entered the game we could see 5 different colored boxes. And a red spheres represent point coordinates.
Five boxes represent the starting point coordinates, the ending point coordinates, the Vector naming, the intersection coordinates and the mathematical equation.
This project was demonstrated in a math class at the University of New South Wales, where students entered the game and would explore and learn the mathematics of vectors on their own through the game.
After the game, there will be a question to calculate the shortest distance between two planes to test the learning.Although not many people answered the question and only 30% of the students made it, everyone seemed to be interested in the VR game, which was also exciting for me.

Using VR to immerse yourself in the culture of the Torres Strait
The Torres Strait Vr Game was completed in 2018 by Professor Rhett Loban.
I had the pleasure of participating in this project during my freshman year 2016 in New South Wales. This game is a serious game; people will have some deep thoughts after playing it.
The game simulates the culture of Torres Strait through the environment, vegetation ecology, animal ecology, astrological ecology, and mythology.
In addition, the game is also a navigation game, where the player will take the role of a Torres Strait people and experience the life of a Torres Strait people by completing tasks between different islands in sequence. These include: fishing for dokon, turtles, and crayfish on the sea floor. By driving a boat through the islands.
The mythology and culture is heavily influenced by the natural life around the ocean and islands, and has always informed traditional art forms. Featured are sea turtles, fish, dugongs, sharks, seabirds and saltwater crocodiles, which are considered totem beings.
With this design, we also retain some freedom for players to explore the terrain freely, and they will find some materialized legends. For example: the legend of Tagai, who holds a fishing spear in his left hand, representing the Southern Cross. In his right hand, he holds a sorbet (a red fruit).
After playing this game, I have to say that it really appeals to me more than reading essays or words.
Unfortunately, this work is now no longer available to play on steam.

VR version of Photoshop Tilt Brush
The best feature of Tilt Brush is that you draw in three dimensions instead of the traditional flat surface, that is amazing. But it is a little expensive.
For the operation, unlike the mouse and keyboard, player can directly paint with their hands, which has a feeling of being disguised as Harry Potter.
In terms of the overall experience, I very enjoy traveling between the light and shadow during the creation process, which is a great experience.
In addition, it is a professional painting software that has many built-in brush materials, which can bring different feelings, such as paper, rainbow and so on.
The essence of tilt brush is not only to assist in modeling, doodling, but to create the world.
For me, the most interesting point of tilt brush lies in the special effects brush, especially the interaction between the special effects brush and the sound source, which can make the scene you create come alive.
However, Drawing the human body in the air is too torturous for people with a poor sense of space, such as me. lol

Recently, due to the COVID, I stay at home for a long time, so I spent a little time playing some zombie-themed games. The dim lights, silent streets, and suddenly hearing the howling of zombies, the tension always made me unforgettable. So I decided to shoot a 360-degree panoramic zombie-themed movie. Here are some of my inspirations: https://youtu.be/1CbbqujAwco
This is some game footage, we can see a large number of zombies or a small number of zombies, quickly rushing toward us. So our theme is: escape them or defeat them.
We think escape will be easy to shoot, if we need to defeat them, it not only needs a lot of weapons props, but also needs to figure out how to add the shooting special effects, such as gun fire and so on.
Our first challenge: because of the COVID, we can not choose a large number of actors to play zombies, excluding the main character maybe only 2 people.
The second challenge was: the makeup problem, we think the rough makeup will greatly reduce the sense of impact, and may even make it into a comedy film.
The third challenge is the role of the camera. Is it from God's point of view? Or someone's? Or a zombie's point of view?
To solve these 3 challenges, I searched for some 360-degree zombie-themed movies. https://youtu.be/6K-1zMz8I3A
This movie gave me some inspiration. The movie starts with three young people driving and seeing zombies by chance. The movie follows the adventures of three people in a kind of documentary format. So, I thought if we rationalize the 360 camera as well, for example: the main character is a soldier who is on a mission, wearing a camera on his head. After that he was attacked by a zombie and turned into a zombie, so we can use 1 actor to play the same zombie as well as the soldier.
For the makeup problem, we consider setting a zombie belonging to the year 2022, for example: zombies are sick and will only attack people without masks.
In addition, I noticed the camera switch at the beginning of the movie, at first it was the camera in the car, and then it switched to the middle of the zombies. We will try to use the cross cutting technique in 360-degree film to increase the suspense, for example, in shot 1: a person without a mask is running away. Shot 2: The zombie has caught up with a person and is preparing to attack. Shot 3: The zombie realizes it is chasing the wrong person. Shot 4: The person without a mask is rescued and puts on the mask.

Super hot really hot, lol
First of all, I must say that SUPERHOT is a very creative game, which can be said that it break the traditional shooting game. The game has no health bar and no Mp, stamina and so on. When the player is not operating the game will enter slow motion mode, it will instantly transform the player into Keanu Reeves. This sensory stimulation fully amplifies the player to enjoy the thrill of tackling enemies in the infinite "bullet time". If you are a player who is interested in bullet time, I suggest you don't miss it.
Meanwhile, what's more interesting is that the game has the function of re-editing the game video. This allows each player to turn into Quentin Tarantino and become the director of a sci-fi action movie, where players can create their own violent aesthetic sequences in the game.
About the game genre, although this game is a first-person shooting game, but the setting of the bullet time makes this game more like a board game or a unique turn-based game. Players need to think through to rationalize their character's positioning and strikes, and use the weapons and props in their hands or in the environment to kill the enemies that are attacking. Even if the player will be become as Keanu Reeves, but this is not as easy as you might think, because the player has only one life, once the enemy hit the player, the current level of the process will need to start again.
Such a game triggered me to think deeply about a shooting game that uses VR technology. This is not a pure killing game (the enemy is more like a no life robot, instead of human) , but more focused on the player's thinking and action. With constant thought and practice, this might lead this game be an immersive assassination training.
