Chronological Journal Outlining
1. The very first typeface and color I used in my book:
2. 02/01, Narin Gulec, Graphic Designer: Narin said that all the color I choose in my book are very solid and strong, it looks not very cohesive. The color in a book need to be more consisting and use soft colors is a better choice. Also, the typeface I choose is not easy for reading, particularly for kids. I need to change a typeface that children can read easily. Narin also recommended me a book called “Good Nights For girls” for reference to me. For me, I agree all the critique she gave to me and looked up the reference book which Narin recommended me in bookstore and made some changes below:
3. 03/15, Luba Lukova, Graphic Designer: Luba recommended me change serif typeface to san serif typeface. Because the serif typeface I choose it does not match the style that the animals illustrations I draw in the book. Serif typeface looks very old fashion, not modern and not fun. She also recommended me to change one single purple color to colorful colors on the book cover. One single color looks very boring and not playful. She also wants me to highlight my animals in my book. Because she told me that my animals illustrations are all very beautiful and children will love them. I think Luba’s suggestions are all great and inspired me a lot on my book design and I made some changes below:
4. 04/05, Peter McKinley, Graphic Designer: Peter liked my project very much and he said my project is educational and even salable. The critique he gave to me is that the continent edge and dialog bubble is too solid and graphic, he suggested that make the edge more looks like a hand drawing feeling will be more match to my animals illustrations and the book will looks have a cohesive style. I really appreciate his suggestions and he encourages me to feel more confident and urges me to make more efforts in my book. Here are some changes I did below:

Artwork Statement
My project is an educational and interactive animals atlas book for children. Also, I will create a big magnet map which can stick on the wall, 3D puzzles and stickers that relate to my book to make my book more fun and playful. My children illustrated book is an interactive way to explore 50 fascinating animals through every continent on earth!
My artistic goal is want to design a book that it’s graphic, professional, educational and salable. The most important is children likes my book and can learn things from my book.
