Flynn shuddered at the sound of an ‘I love NYC’ shirt. “Oh, god no. You’ve got a point, though, it’s hard to avoid tourists, especially in the summer. Looks like we’ll have to take a group trip.” He joked.

“You’ll take me? I mean, if that was a joke I can totally just go myself, I’ll find my way around. It’s just the constant danger of going purely to see things and ending up losing my dignity.”

“I promise, it’s not as bad as it seems. Plus, you’ve got the city at your fingertips.”

“I definitely need to take a trip into the city sooner rather than later. I’m just so afraid I’ll get sucked into tourist culture and return a changed person. I try to see the Empire State Building and end up getting lost in mob mentality and suddenly I own an ‘I love NYC’ shirt.”

“I’m in for sure. We can have a sister’s bonding day. A field trip, if you will.”

“Thank you, I appreciate that… I’ve been around here for a good while, on and off. It’s not that hard when you live like five minutes away.” He chuckled. “What about you, where’re you from?”

“I’m from Seattle. It’s not my first time around here, though. I went to Camp Halfblood from the time I was nine until last summer. This is actually my first summer in almost ten years away from there, but it’s talked up a lot to the older campers. Everyone around here is the same age, I was living with twelve year olds.”

“Your parents must be pretty cool, then.” He cocked his head. “Yeah, I guess. I just like to make sure this place doesn’t implode.”

“I think you’ve done a pretty good job of it so far, just by looking around,” she nodded. “Have you gone here long, then? I always knew this place was around, I just didn’t know it was so active.”

“Half-sisters is as good as anything. Besides, it’s the good half,” she replied with a laugh. “I’d love to. Is there a specific exhibit you have in mind?”

“I’m glad you think so. You’re probably one of three, and the other two are my parents,” she replied with a laugh. “A Zeus kid? So, you must have a pretty big say in how things go around here, huh?”

“It’s okay we’ve all been there at one point. You get use to it here eventually.”

“Athena. It probably doesn’t seem like it right now, but I’m not usually all over the place. It’s just been a long day trying to find my way around.”

“Juliet daughter of?” He asked arching his eyebrow at the girl. “I’m Asher son of Hades. And yes I can tell you are new around here.”

“i’ve been to camp halfblood every summer until i was nine until this one! i’m sure that’s not much of a coincidence considering there aren’t that many places for young demigods to go, but i’m just going to claim it’s a small world anyway,” she grinned. “i do have experience with hermes kids, this just seems like a smaller place so i’d try to find a time when none of the hermes kids are in their cabin. i’m not looking for more of my stuff to get stolen if they find out i’m snooping.”

“Not exactly. I’ve actually been here for years. Who are you exactly?”

she raised her eyebrows at the question, never really having questioned herself why they did anything. however, she was more interested in answering the question than questioning her own way of life. “only certain types of weapons can kill the monsters and creatures that threaten us, so we can’t really use modern weapons that aren’t made of the materials that we need them to be made out of. and, demigods have been around for a very long time. you know, like heracles? he’s not the only one, of course, most greek heroes written about were demigods. demigods are no new concept.”
