she’s one of the insane church ladies in our town, and she’s a bitch to basically everyone outside her church . Lucky me! She found out I’d given Carter some money her first night in a motel, and she came in flipping her shit about how I was going to corrupt a pure soul or something. The next day her son came in and apologized. Asked me about the pronouns on my badge and went on his way.
besides that, there’s not much.

Why not just call the temple a shelter? You seem to do similar work.
hm. Well, it’s my stepmoms project. But it’s more than a shelter. For starters: shelters have a really negative connotation. I know some people who’d rather sleep on the street than in a shelter. Also, not everyone necessarily needs a shelter. our beliefs are that life is more than life and death, you continue living, on and on, and your soul just becomes more complex as you go on. Caring for yourself and your soul is important, and everyone deserves a chance to do so.
shelters have resources posted. We try our best to be those resources and directly help everyone we interact with. Give people who can’t afford a doctor access to a check up, someone who needs help with the bills a boost, someone who can’t find work can get a job with us. It’s about doing good for others and others doing good for you. Very mutual aid heavy.
Learning about our beliefs is completely optional, but a lot of people are curious. I guess saying we’re a temple helps with publicity too. TLDR: All life is eternal and unending, nurture your soul so you can uplift others
