Final: Contrasting Photos
Contrast between the photos: These two photographs (also very different), are taken in the same spot. The key difference between the two is the time of day that they were taken. In the first one, you can see the sun setting in the middle of the photo. The photograph is overall a lot more sunny, and golden than the photo below. In the photo below, the sky is very blue, just like the water. This photo was taken in the middle of the day. The colors are all what you would expect a beaches colors to be.
Contrast between the photos: These two photos (similar to the pair above) are also taken in the same spot. The key difference is the time of day that these photos were taken. In the photo above, the sun is about to set. You can see the light shining from the left, which is causing the water to look a grey tone. In the photo below, you can see that the water as well as the sky are both bright blue. This is because the photo was taken in the middle of the day.
Contrast between the photos: These photos are both of the same object, but the main contrast between them is the angle that they were taken at. In the first photograph, it is taken very head on. The trees look pretty short and there isn't a lot of texture. In the second photo, the tree looks very tall. The base also looks a lot bigger than the top. The texture is also very prominent.
Contrast between the photos: In these two photos, they are both taken of the same flower. One is up close, while the other is at a distance. The main contrast between these photos is the texture. In the first photograph, you are able to see a flower with little to no depth. Although there are some details, there aren't that many. In the second photo, the flower is seen up close, and you are able to observe the details within the petals. The petals looks very glossy and seem to have a lot of texture.
Contrast between the photos: These photos are both taken of the same plant. One is from a far and the other is very up close. In the first one, it looks very basic and plain. There isn't any texture, and the plant seems to be just placed there. In the second photo, you can see a ton of texture on the leaf. There are the crevices of the lines as well as the hair like texture that makes this photograph very cool.
Contrast between the photos: These photos are both of the same flower, but the difference is that one is in focus and the other isn't. In the first photo, the plants in the background are what are in focus. The flowers are still seen but are very blurry. In the second photo, the flowers are brought into focus and you are able to see all the different kinds of texture.
Contrast between the photos: These photos are both taken of the same tree and the same time. The difference is the lighting. In the first one, the contrast and exposure is perfect. It is a little darker than how I would normally put it but it was still good. In the second one, the exposure is very high and the sky looks white.
Contrast between the photos: The contrast between these photos is the angle in which the crystals were taken. In the first one, the angle is from above, where all the crystals are seen. The photo is a bit dark. In the second photo, the angle is from the side where one of the crystals looks extremely large compared to the other two. The lighting is also a lot lighter.
Take away from digital photography: I learned a lot with this class! Some of the key ideas that I learned were how to take up close photos that add a lot of texture, where to put your focus point in the photo, and how to take good portrait photographs. I really liked the project where I took portraits of my friends. We all had a great time! I will definitely use what I learned in this class when I take more photos!

Herb Ritts Project
These photos are inspired by Herb Ritts's photography. When I analyzed his work, I saw that he loved to use California's natural beauty. He frequently took photos either on the beach, or outside. The key elements of his style included either very minimal makeup and clothing, or in character (movie actors/actresses). His photos were very stylized regarding their poses. My set of images relate to his work because they are both taken using the nature of California, just like he did. Additionally, I made sure that these photos were very stylized, whether they are looking at the camera or not. Finally, I filtered them in black and white, just like Herb Ritts did.
