Reflections

It's been a while!

I've turned 27. I'm almost at 3 years working in the vfx industry. Happily with my other half for 2. Been in Canada for almost 10. (1 year to go!) I'm no longer going from job to job trying to "find" the one for me. This is it, vfx until I can't take the deadlines and the overtime. But with that I am thinking ahead, thinking exactly how much longer can I take this lifestyle of working project to project, never really having the time to spend outside of work. This year I decided I am going to start laying the ground work for the life I want to have after my stint in vfx is done. I can't imagine doing this until retirement, and most people get out in their mid to late 30s. So far I have decided a few things. 1. I want to go back to nature. Having grown up in a suburban area with a huge backyard, I really miss the tranquil of the woods. 2. I want to have a herb and vegetable garden, and some small animals like pygmy goats! Maybe chickens. Definitely a few dogs. 3. I want to live in a cabin that either we build together or have one of those tiny house makers build. It would be great if it had solar panels or wind turbine! Definitely want a work studio.

4. I want to travel more. I started to learn how to sew this year, and so far it's been great. It's taught me to not be scared of making mistakes, and that any mistake can be fixed. I'm really enjoying it and can see myself sewing for years to come. I am also super excited to draw my own designs and get it printed onto fabric. Can't wait! Recently I've also had a desire to learn soap making. I'm looking foward to starting this later this year, after I have some spare money to purchase some materials! The dream is to grow herbs and flowers in the garden, hang them up to dry in the work studio, and make soap with it! All this of course costs money. I can only keep working and saving until I have enough to make these wishes come true! I hope one day the sewing and soap will be able to fund themselves and someday fund my future life.
