False Pretenses
A “casus belli” is an event that is used to justify war.
In 1983, Ronald Reagan claimed that the lives of hundreds of American students were at risk in Grenada.  It was a lie, but the U.S. invaded Grenada and at least 113 people died.
In 1990, a 15-year-old girl named Nayirah testified before the Congressional Human Rights Caucus that she had personally witnessed Iraqi soldiers pull hundreds of babies out of incubators at a hospital and leave them on the floor to die. It was a lie, but seven senators cited her story as an influence on their vote to go to war in Iraq. At least 10,500 people died.
In 2003, the U.S. Secretary of State claimed before the United Nations that Iraqi president Saddam Hussein possessed production facilities for, and stockpiles of, weapons of mass destruction.  It was a lie, but the U.S. invaded. At least 150,000 people, and as many as 1,000,00 or more people, have died.
The last three Republican administrations have presented a lie to the American public, and to policymakers, as a rhetorical strategy—a casus belli for a deadly war which might not otherwise be supported by the public and the government.
As a new Republican administration takes control of the United States military, it is incumbent on every citizen and every lawmaker to be extremely skeptical of any claim that is presented as a justification for war. Do not believe any story, event, or atrocity without incontrovertible proof.  Administrations like this one have lost the benefit of the doubt.

David Bowie Jokes
Q: Did you know that David Bowie had blue eyes? A: Yes, but due to a condition called anisocoria, one of his eyes appeared to be darker than the other. Q: How many David Bowies did it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: He could accomplish the task himself, but because of his status as a wealthy celebrity, it was seldom necessary for Bowie to do household chores. David Bowie's doctor told him he would need to undergo chemotherapy. David Bowie said, "Will I be able to play guitar after having chemo?" "Yes," said the doctor. "That's good news!" said Bowie. "I also play keyboards, saxophone, and stylophone." Q: What do David Bowie and Michael Jackson have in common? A: They both won lifetime achievement Grammys.

Ghost Planet used to be quite the tourist attraction! That was, of course, until somebody decided to dump all their garbage there…
