Momento (2018)

Land art performance improvisation using organic materials found around the region of Praia Preta. "Momento" celebrates the impermanency of human life's events and structures. Proponing a reflection on the irony of the act of putting on effort on the construction of fleeting monuments by the shore. The frame could not possibly last a day due to nature's action, as the flowers will soon wither by the sun as the tide drifts the elements by the shore. The perfomance also references the artists family background traditions such as the ritual offerings of brazilian religion Umbanda's in it's forms and arrangements.

Experimentation on light and movement, The film portrays a reflection on the interaction of the body with both nature and urban settings. Specifically in the context of Rio during the celebration of the Carnaval. The video uses unseen footage of Juca's first short-film "Maldomar"(2015), as it shows moments of pleasure and relaxation of friends and performers on the interact of scenes.

fissura (2017)

Sound art and video installation made in collaboration with the artist Acácia Lima for EAV Parque Lage's formation course "imagem em movimento". The soundtrack is made using whatsapp audios adressed to juca by his family and friends mixed with the artist's own voice reading his texts. All the beats and sounds are created by the distortion and overlapping of voices. The video shows underwater footage made by Juca and Pedro Campos for the movie "Maldomar" such as public domain documentary scenes, both refilmed by juca on a LCD screen in order to get a new texture and light beats.
