Thank you for this blog. I really, really, needed this. To be honest I had a lot to say but most of the things I wanted to complain about you already complained about. So I specifically want to talk about Reiner right now because... wtf Isayama, you remember he's supposed to be gay right? Also him creeping on Historia? Not funny. Creeping on other people is never funny. I'm not surprised Isayama thinks it funny, considering the shit he pulled but it's pissing me off.

Reiner’s sexuality has been a topic of debate for a while now, but I think he’s just bi honestly. Regardless, the way he’s shown to lust after Historia has always been really creepy.

And when it comes to Reiner, I’m mainly infuriated that he and Annie have been excused for their crimes and are actually considered ambassadors of peace now. Like hello, these are the same people who committed actual genocide and one of them even said they’d do it all again if given the choice. They faced no repercussions for what they did, but Eren would have if he didn’t die.

You know what Mom ? I checked on the social networks after this chapter and guess what ? There is a huge wave of solidarity for Eren and lots of people who called him "the best character ever written" ! And I'm not even American but it's the same thing everywhere...every fan of every country... Sometimes I think us humans of the Earth planet are even worst than some horrible SnK characters...But perhaps Isayama wanted to point that too ?

I don’t know what you read, anon, but calling Eren the best character ever written isn’t necessarily approval for what he’s doing. We recorded a bunch of chapter reactions earlier today and nearly everyone we spoke to loved this chapter and had high praise for Eren as the MC.. I get it.  I hate what Eren is doing too , but when I divorce myself from the content and view it as a piece of literature?  Hot damn.  

Eren had all the makings of a typical shounen protagonist. He had every hallmark of a hero. The only thing he lacked was a mangaka willing to follow the tropes. How many pieces of fiction can you name where a typical  shounen protagonist goes fully unhinged and destroys the world? 

I don’t mean to sound conflicted writing this but it’s such a weird feeling to hate something yet love it so much,  I loved this chapter. When it comes to Eren being a villain, Isayama allowed no gray area. This was go big or go home. 1. Introduce a few cute kids. 2. Make you care. 3. Have the MC gruesomely slaughter  them. It was shocking and horrifying and so amazingly well done.

I will never go so far as to call Eren the best character ever written but this chapter went a long way for helping me to remember that Attack on Titan is  masterful and reminded me of why I love hate it so very much.

It was clear though, Floch isn't the kind of person to make decisions on his own, but a (dedicated) fallower.

so after reading the 2nd translation of the new chapter...

eren very clearly tells historia that he plans on annihilating the rest of the world, and while she is distressed at first... historia doesn’t seem to fight him. unless eren wiped her memory of the conversation (very possible tbh) it seems as if historia supports eren and is onboard with his rumbling plan. 

which i think fits her character/arc perfectly. 

i posted this last november and i still believe it all holds true. i won’t repeat what i wrote here, but i never really believed that historia was threatened or coerced into getting pregnant by eren. if she were pregnant, it was because she wanted to be. and it seems as if she preferred to get pregnant than eat zeke or try to fight the government.

a lot of people have  this intense rabid hate for erehisu but i think, if it is canon, it’s one of the most well-written het (a descriptor for the ship, not a descriptor for historia who i believe is queer) ships i’ve ever seen. 

eren has always seen right through historia. he’s always encouraged her to do what she wants. in return, historia took what she learned from her relationship with him and ymir and used it to reject her father and save eren from himself in the cave. they care about each other, and don’t overstep boundaries or act abnormally overprotective. they also have several prominent parallels between their characters/ideologies that weren’t written by accident. 

it makes perfect sense that these two would be on each other’s side, whether romantically or not. and wouldn’t it be perfectly sublime if, just as the 104th were initially fooled by historia’s good girl act, they/we were fooled once again years later by a queen who doesn’t want to save humanity but destroy it instead?
