Evaluation of the project
Reflecting on the duration of the project, I wasn't pleased with how much I was able to complete, with the goal being to move and work fast in order to create a high quality outcome (s) acting on things slowly and struggling to be more specific on how I wanted to create my concept which led to me not being able to have a final piece for the deadline and only half a piece as it was still being made. (However it will be finished for the exhibition on the 24th)
Although I was slow at the start, I did structure the project as intended, with it starting out as plans and viewing of the ideas, slowly turning into sketches and research for my favourites which then turned to more indepth research into my chosen concept. I was also happy with the way I did sample tests with the mould and the jelly and the clay which gave me different looks on how I can create my final piece which I reflected on and spoke about throughout my blog.
Overall I was a bit disappointed as the personal goals I gave myself for this project was based off of my previous fmp last year, but I was unable to fulfil those making those same mistakes again by not working fast enough. It annoys me more aswell as at the start of the project I looked up do 2 outcomes (editorial and a sculpture) and now I don't even have 1 for the deadline which I'm slightly embarrassed about.
This is definitely something I'll look to work on in the future as in the last few days of the project I was working at a really fast pace in order to get everything done on time, however near the start of the project I didn't have that urgency so it'll be something I'll look to improve on I'm the future.

The progress of the outcome on deadline day
Here's the progress of my final piece come deadline day I've been working with all sections slowly in order to try and get finished on time for the deadline, however unfortunately I wasn't able to.
With the animation I'm currently looking to create an animation that will render for a long time in order for it to last the whole exhibition duration on the phone twice. (4 phones for duration).

With the drill there's a few elements I'd need to recut when I cut the directions out using the laser cutter.
The tights are done but will be cut accordingly to match the size of the brain.
Speaking of the brain, there will be a few more cans added onto the piece making it bigger. That will take about 2 days max as the foam drys quickly making it easy to do multiple times a day.
This is definitely something I'm disappointed about as I really hoped to get my outcome done on time as it wasn't something I failed to do last year so I put it as one of my goals, however I'm not happy with myself not getting the piece done on time and will DEFINITELY be something I look to do next time.

Sculpture base progress

Here I work more on the sculpture. As I said last time the piece wasn't expanding to a point where it could he happy with it, so when doing some research I noticed that it needed to be on a slightly damp surface to expand more, which worked well and expanded alot more than previously without water.
In order to not mess the mess up the piece I only sprayed water with a cleaning tub bottle.

Here's how it came out. I'm happy with the shape of it as it's more shaped like a brain 🧠 if you ignore the stands around it holding it up. I'll look to maintain this shape whilst I add more foam to the piece.

The ethics of utilising a sketchbook correctly

Throughout the project something that caught my eye was the way I utilised my sketchbook opposed to last years Final major project, as with last year's project I'd consistently be printing and printing and printing filling up almost 5 sketchbook worth of images which work wise, that's impressive, however that's alot of paper wasted, however with this year I had initially started like that a bit, however once getting into the project more, I started to use the sketchbook more for drawing and visualising things I can't do with objects (EXAMPLES ABOVE) which not only saves a lot of paper but keeps me organised to where I know that if something is not on my blog, I don't have to search through my sketchbook or if it's slipped somewhere else.

How to be careful with being ethical with my concept
With my idea I have to be careful as it could be seen as sensitive to the wrong audition and some viewers considering the drill and the Jeffrey dalmer section of the sculpture, in order to do this I've balanced my sections to where some are good and some are dark and also haven't included anything too over the top which signifys what the drill represents.

Sculpture progress

Here, I made my progress on my final sculpture. I started by doing what I said I was with the smaller pieces, then afterwards, foaming over the smaller pieces in order to form the shape I want.

Here's how it came out after a few cans throughout the day. I currently have a circle shape, however it's nothing to worry about as I still have cans which will help me form my brain shape.
Side note: Something the next day after that bothered me was the fact that my foam didn't expand to the size I'd like it which was strange which I'll try to look at next time for when I do it.

Ethics when constructing a exhibition
Being able to look back at all the exhibitions I've went to over the course of not only this unit, but the year, I've realised how different exhibitions can be and how they are formed what to think about when constructing one together. Looking from an ethical standpoint, there's many different things to consider and look out for (our exhibition), such as target audience, whether there is a graphic exhibition or something that shouldn't be a shown to a younger audience, healthy and safety. Whether it be where plugs and sockets are and if there is space to manoeuvre around the exhibits. Going on from that, also the size of the space and if there is enough room to fit certain sized pieces in order for it to be safe for, again, people to walk around.

How I will continue with the development of my sculpture more ethically

With my time now being drawn to the sculpture, I decided to plan out how I'll move foward with the piece and develop it further in order to know where to go next with the piece.

I was able to find a way to be able to reuse some of my smaller experiments from the expanding foam practice ( Above ) as by cutting then with a sharp tool in order for them to be small bases to work around which results in me being ethical with my outcome as my experiments won't be going to waste.

Health and safety of exhibition

Another thing I looked alongside the pieces in the HnD exhibition was the health and safety as I'll be having cables coming from Sculpture in order to have animations fully function in the piece.
When looking where the cables were here throughout the exhibition they were all not noticeable due to the work being so powerful. With that being said with my sculpture I'll be going for 'the bigger the better' in order for the cable to blend in and also possibly going for a white cable opposed to any other colour for the same reason as I want my main focus to be the exhibition itself.

More of level 4 (HnD) end of year exhibition and reflection of of they answered sustainability brief (ethics).
Here are some more HnD exhibits I couldn't fit into 1 post.

Here was a piece that was simple but effective which was about social media. Although it had a fun concept to it and was an interesting concept I felt it could've been better it terms of the aesthetic aspect of the piece.

This was another piece that had a lot of elements and stuck out to me among the others due to the size of it and the use of a retro styled set.
I really liked the fact that it was a room so once inside, it's extremely hard to be disengaged as there's lots to look at unless you're looking out the door. I also liked the fact along with this piece (below) that the elements all add up and make sense.

This piece was also one that I fought was creative as you can see straight away there's great use of ethics within the exhibit into this piece with the recycled bottles and bottle lids on the piece. I also thought the branding around the piece also balanced it out with it not only being on the floor but also coming up along the wall too.

Level 4 (HnD) yearbook
Here was the yearbook I briefly spoke about before.

With the cover its simplistic but easy to read giving viewers the information they need. Alongside that however, is the use of the colour pink on the logo and a brighter shade for the foundation of the book to balance out the fun aspect of what the book represents as the typeface used at the bottom could be mistaken for something formal considering it's a serif type.

With the contents inside the book, each page includes a profile of the person, what there exhibits about and also includes a certain piece of work that represents them in the colour pink which basing off the cover and logo of the name 'Jumbo' seems to be the primary colour and theme of the exhibition.
The final touch that I thought was pretty good and funny was the use of a quote or as it says 8n the book 'Jumbo fact' defining who they are, with some of them being funny.

The book idea (cancelled)
Unfortunately due to a lack of time management on my end, I won't be able to carry on with one of my concepts being the book. I'm disappointed with myself due to the fact that something similar had happened in last year's final major project. Time management is definitely something I need to calculate better.

Level 4 end of year exhibition
Here I went to the HnD end of year exhibition. I thought the exhibition was well organised with beverages that visitors could drink for free whether it be beer or a soft drink.
The pieces created by the HnD students were all different in there own unique way making it easy to be intrigued of what the definition of each piece was and the thought gone behind it.
What I particularly liked is that the yearbook speaks about what each piece is giving insight to what the piece is.

The first piece at the front was this piece. I particularly liked the moulded face set built around the goggles which when looking inside was an eary animation interacting with the viewer with words like 'hello' and 'tell me' in a pixilated styled typeface. I felt like the fact that it was talking to me really kept me engaged and stay as I didn't want to miss a word of it when watching.

When also seeing the piece I immediately thought of the catacombs, a large network of tunnels which is almost 200 miles long in Paris, France, which is a burial ground to over 6 million people. I don't know if this was the inspiration behind the piece but I definitely see similarities between the two in the sense they give an eary feel.

The next piece next to it is a plastic acrylic piece. What I liked about this piece, whether it's intentional or not, is the use of ethics in the exhibit where the creator has reused the frames of the cutout object and combined them to create a few framed images with wood as the frame.
The piece relates to my piece as when reading the yearbook it talks about how each hole represents piece which I speak about in pitch presentation as for example, the meditation aspect of my sculpture will include a smooth hole in the brain opposed to holes.

The next piece was very interesting as there was lots of different elements to it. What stood out to me about the piece was the use of different techniques used within it in order to create the set.
There was an animation, some mini sculptures of creatures the creator made, illustrations on the wall of this specific creature which built up a narrative and main subject of the piece.
This also also relates to my piece in the sense that its not just 1 big piece, it's many smaller pieces together based around one topic.
What also stands out to me is the depth of the piece, as when reading the guide book, it talks more in detail about how her piece, with how each character represents almost like a litter box eating different types of litter such as tyres and batteries

Jeffrey dalhmer interview
Here I watched a famous Jeffrey Dahmer interview with 17 million views on YouTube. Within the video he speaks on the motive of his killings and how he had fantasies with his victim.

17 deaths (all young men)
Started reading pornography at a young age
Had fantasies of dominating and possessing people
Cannibal who would some of his victims
Wanted a memorial with skulls of victims as if he couldn't keep them alive he would keep them in spirit.
Drilled into holes and put acid or hot water into the head in order to try keep them alive similar to zombies
Took a victims head with him to work and had it in a locker
Fantasy started when he was 16, 17 years old
Don't know what started the killing (said it was addictive).
Stopped for 9 years when he went to the army but got kicked out due to drinking problems.
10 out of 17 victims were black, however when asked if it was racially motivated he said no it wasn't.

Survey reflection and how I created it with ethical intentions.
Reflecting back on my survey after a few days, I believe that there are positives and negatives to take away from it such as the fact that some of the yes or no questions can be used for statistics used in an outcome as stated previously.
In order to be ethical I also kept the survey anonymous in case people don't want to disclose there answers. Looking back however, I believe I should possibly have a question possibly asking the gender as that can also open up avenues to different statistics for example '80% of females said....' whilst also having a 'rather not say' answer in order to keep it ethical and again anonymous.
Something I could've improved on the survey was the broadness of the questions as when speaking to people who had done it, they gave feedback saying one of the questions were broad and not specifc enough which I agree with looking back.
The last thing I probably would've improved on was giving it out to a wider audience as the people who had answered the survey were people who I knew which could've led to bias results.

Tights with stuffing process

Here, I worked another part of my sculpture, the tights in which I filled with cotton in order to replicate brain chords.

During the process I looked at different ways they could be presented by possibly having one side slightly bulkier than the other and also tried including hair bobbles in the piece to try and squeeze a certain texture out of it, however to no success so I'll be having them normally filled up approximately evenly.

Here's here the approximately even filled out tights came out.
