POKÉMON ON GAME BOY ADVANCE It's no secret that the core #Pokemon games are all identical in their gameplay design, but it's also no secret that each generation holds its own set of unique little features and details that grants each and everyone their own type or charm — it's why we all hold a generation or two in a higher regard than the rest, even if we love all of them in general. In the case of the third generation, the design of the Game Boy Advance is one of the main factors that make Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald special, as well as the spinoffs (Mystery Dungeon games) and remakes (FireRed & LeafGreen). Two of my favorite aspects of the charming design of these games have to be the character art and the music. These games gave Pokémon a new, vibrant and colorful coat of paint, along with a sound that was completely different and independent in its own right from the previous two generations. I used to have Crystal a few years back, but I lent it to a friend and he lost it (pro-tip: don't lend your stuff to people, 'cause then that happens to ya). I always end up going back to these games almost every year just because I still enjoy them so much to this day. MARIO NEVER ENDS. There was a relatively brief period of time when I was in high school in which I felt that I was burned out and just TIRED of #Mario games. For about a month or two I preached to a few friends that I had had enough of Nintendo's rehashing of their poster boy... ...And then along came Super Mario 3D Land and it revitalized my lifelong love for the series. It says something when a game character (and any sort of successful franchise) remains as relevant and as beloved by people in general for over three decades. Today I found #NewSuperMarioBros2 for a price so cheap I almost felt like I stole it! And so my love for Mario games will continue with this entry. TWENTY YEARS! It just hit me yesterday that I'm only some months older than one of my all-time favorite video game series, and it's crazy to think that it's been around all of my life! I've never kept my love for #Pokemon a secret, because why would I? It's brought fun, good times and cherished memories on and off throughout my life, and I might be a bigger fan now than even when I was a kid. With the classic trilogy hitting the 3DS eshop and Sun and Moon confirmed, it's a GREAT time to fall in love with the games all over again, so I'm playing me some more right now! OLD AGE, CAN'T MOVE VERY WELL That's #ONi in a nutshell, pretty much. I started this game and originally really wanted to play it all the way through, but because it hasn't aged very well (it's an early title), my desire to keep playing it disappeared. Clunky controls and huge, empty levels are probably the two biggest problems with this game. Not all games of this era are still playable, and this just happens to be one of those. I got a copy of Crash Bandicoot 2 with this game when I bought it, and I'd much rather play that instead. Oh well, I tried to enjoy it, but not all games age well. ROCKIN' LIKE IT'S 2008! There are millions and millions of us who got to live and enjoy the days of rocking out with plastic instruments, and though Guitar Hero's made a return, I think it's safe to say thatthe series will probably never see the success that it did before it was exploited to its downfall.
