I'm sorry for pontificating from down here but the US military-industrial complex is currently supplying a genocide, and this is not a new thing, the US has sold weapons to Saudi Arabia to starve millions of Yemenis, the Iraq war, the Afghanistan war, these are within memory. And though some people think it's not the point, it Is also true that there are trillions upon trillions of dollars that could be spent in anything else that go to the black hole of corruption (and call it for what it is, corruption) that is the Pentagon. Any of those resources could be destined to literally any other activity and be better spent.

I'm talking full contempt here. You should outright be HATING the military. Instead of lining up to watch Top Gun you should see it as a glorification of a fucking killing machine that serves imperial interests, enriches megacorporations and supports genocides. i don’t really know any of y’all’s current situations but i do feel that this is worth sharing because there is a ton of stigma around drugs in general and after you pass a point of total abstinence, the information related to safety has to be something that is actively sought out by the user.

DO NOT mix drugs. if you are experimenting with them or if you are a current user, whatever situation you are in. it is never safe to mix shit because you have zero clue how it’ll mix in your system. some stuff is hard on your heart, some stuff is hard on your brain, some stuff is hard on your liver and kidneys. and if you take a bunch of different stimulants, you could have a heart attack, your age does not matter. you could be freshly eighteen and you could still have a heart attack. the youngest person my relative knew that had a heart attack was eighteen. if you take several depressants, heart failure. i had an uncle die of heart failure from alcoholism at thirty. mixing both is not going to “even” you out!! at that point it’s just a guessing game of what is going to happen! dosages are ALWAYS important to know. if something happens, it’s the first question the emt will ask. timing with overdoses is crucial because after you hit past the point of an antidote, the “solution” is flush your system and pray. and some stuff has zero antidote and the immediate solution is flush your system and pray. knowing what you are taking and the amounts you are taking or having someone with you that would know that information can be life saving. if you don’t know whether or not something is laced, at bare minimum, you have got to use a fentanyl test strip. they were free a couple years ago, and i assume they still are. the youngest person i knew that died from accidentally taking laced shit was fifteen. laced shit is everywhere and even if you trust your dealer, you don’t know theirs. narcan. if anyone you know uses opioids or if you are an opioid user. have narcan on your person. it is not a permanent fix but it will keep someone breathing! you still need to go to the hospital! yes, hospitals can be super shitty! yes, even the employees might say mean shit to you! but they are going to be capable of helping you! there is not a permanent home solution to an overdose. always call an ambulance if someone overdoses. the consequences of not calling an ambulance are death, there are no consequences that compare with not calling an ambulance. if someone is vomitting, lay them down on the floor and turn them on their side. if they are on their backs, there’s a risk of them suffocating on their own vomit. make sure that if they start seizing, they have open space so they don’t injure themselves further. if someone offers you something but they can’t tell you exactly what it is, do not fucking take it! a “mystery” drug is a dangerous drug. same thing goes for “new” drugs. try as hard as you can to use clean needles. there are so many diseases that can be passed through needles. infections from that kind of thing are dangerous and can be fatal. do not have weapons near you or anyone who is using drugs. just don’t. i had a friend who got fucked up and had my knife on her. almost got stabbed with a six inch switchblade because she thought it would be funny to fuck around with. the last thing i’m going to say is if you are a pill user and you’re looking up fatal overdose amounts, that shit is a lie. the actual overdose amount is significantly lower. i found this out after a frantic call to poison control after a relapse and was told that less than half of what i had been taking daily was an emergency room trip.

child stars dying young directly or indirectly as a result of fame-related trauma is just so especially sad. for me it’s the tragedy of how kids don’t really know what they’re signing up for when they ask to be famous, especially back in 2008. liam’s mistakes, addiction, and bad decisions, are all so inarguably tied into his career and the carelessness of the entertainment industry. the 31 year old man that just died is the same 16yo boy that was given drugs and alcohol to keep him quiet while he was being overworked and exploited. corey haim, river phoenix, judy garland, and so many more. you can think what you want about liam and have your own opinions, but don’t lose sight of the larger picture that he was a victim of.

thinking about how i really really hope that liam was able to find solace and comfort in creating music and that it wasn't just a source of stress and discomfort for him in the end... the industry is so fucking cruel and competitive and awful and it commodifies this art form to the point that it must feel incredibly overwhelming to have setbacks to the point that it can take the joy and comfort that should come with creating art. it makes me so fucking sad always that it feels like liam wasn't able to fully find his footing yet in his solo career and that he could've in darker moments negatively compared himself to his bandmates. he was so fucking talented and i wanted to see him thrive and find joy in his life and career and i hate that he doesn't have that chance and that the public was endlessly cruel to him about his music when he was a rare talent. he touched so many lives through his art and i hope he knows that.
