Tabletop is shaped and ready for finish. It's curved on all sides with a 1/2” arc. The edges have an offset bevel on the top and bottom. #justinstarrstudio #handmade #handcrafted #shopsmallbusiness #madebyhand #buyhandmade #ooak #oneofakind #RiversideTO #leslieville #Toronto #Ontario #Canada #local #nopowernoproblem #theUnpluggedWoodshop #theUWToronto #woodworking #handtools #wood #nopowernoproblem https://ift.tt/2S1VjGB

Today I took the canvas tote out to the #torontowaterfront. In use, the canvas handles are very comfortable, and the sizing is great for carrying just enough. Any bigger and I think you could load the bag with too much. It's available now on my #etsyshop, go check it out. Today I dropped off two tool rolls for shipping and got the glue up done on the hall table. The next step will be applying the @sutherlandwelles Millies Tung Oil and then move onto the table top. But before that, I have to finish off a new product for my #etsyshop. Check back tomorrow for an update; this will be my first product under the lifestyle category. https://ift.tt/2L2Z5ib

Two more 6-pocket tool rolls almost ready to head out the door; one to a former student and one all the way to #australia 🇦🇺. If you are looking for something slightly different let me know; maybe narrower pockets for #pencils or #paintbrushes, shorter pockets or fewer pocket? Message me what you are looking for, we can make it happen. Cheers Justin https://ift.tt/32b3zsD

Bench is looking a little bit different today. 2 products are launching tomorrow, 1 new and 1 updated. Be sure to checkout my #etsyshop tomorrow for all the details. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported these products up to this point. I’m constantly modifying info the designs to make them as practical and functional for the end user as much as I can; the constant refinement is truly enjoyable. https://ift.tt/2XgvwAr

It’s hard to tell in this photo but the tapers are done on all 4 legs. It’s dramatic the impact the small taper has. 3/16” in from the centre is all it takes to transform this table. Can’t wait to get to shaping the rest of the pieces. #smallchangebigdifference https://ift.tt/2Ni2dbZ

Tapers on the front legs are done. I used my 270mm ryoba following the gentle curve of the taper as close as I could. I started with a large bow saw at first but it proved to be incredibly slow. The taper is 3/16” from centre so it meant I was able to complete the cut with the Ryoba with no trouble. Consider the tools you have before laying out your next project. Are you able to complete all the tasks with the tools you have? https://ift.tt/2No56Iy

The inside of my tool cabinet is getting a bit of a makeover, still figuring out a method to store my @gyokucho saws...slots in a board or hanging? Also, not my @lienielsentoolworks 5 1/2. Borrowed that from @theunpluggedwoodshop to show the completed till. One day I will have one of my own...one day. #lifegoals http://bit.ly/2KAI3Ic

Internal drawer components are complete. This week I will start the shaping of the legs and rails as well as the mortises for the turn buttons. After that it’s shaping of the top and glue up. #drawerslides #mortise http://bit.ly/2RsKvRE

The drawer dividers are mortised and fit. The poplar pieces are dimensioned which will make up the drawer slides. If all goes well those will be all fit tomorrow. The middle stage of the project is where everything starts to just flow. So many pieces to dimension and join....simply checking off the list at this point. The next major step is all the shaping....lots of shaping to be done on this hall table. #halltable #joinery #drawerdividers #cherrywood http://bit.ly/2L5sfwg

Spent a little while sitting in back yard sharping some gardening tools. A women called in a panic saying she was chasing after the sharping truck this morning but it got away 😂. She called us because she remembered seeing the sign in the window for sharping services. Jobs like this a quick and fun, use the small diamond files from @leevalleytools, they work perfectly for stuff like this. #sharpeningservice #torontogarden http://bit.ly/2XWdijZ

First dry fit of all the mortise and tenon work is done. I forgot to dimension the second front rail so tomorrow will be that along with the drawer dividers. I have two front rails, one for the drawers and a lower a visual interest. http://bit.ly/2XaTps6

Tenons cut and mortises drilled. I’ve said it many times before, batch out your mortise and tenon work as much as possible. I started with the rip cuts, moved to the shoulders and finished the tenon cheeks with the router plane. I will also cut straight to the line for any tenon shorter than 3”, I prefer to use the router plane for anything larger. http://bit.ly/2MU3bey

Doesn’t look like much but this represents the structure of the hall table ready for joinery. Everything is laid out and ready for cutting. Let’s see how much I can get done tomorrow. I prefer to do all the layout at once; it allows me to keep the same settings on my marking gauge and stay in the mindset of layout. http://bit.ly/2MQmZiW

Some time ago I made a few #breadlame for @rekrab82; a #chef friend of mine in #scotland. I was digging through a box of scraps and found these two extras I had made. These are a great tool if you are a bread maker and want some other than a typical plastic handle lame. I’ll have these available on my #etsy store in the coming weeks. Also to all the chefs out there...how about a waxed canvas knife roll? http://bit.ly/2MBxfeJ
