The Bittersweet Experience💜
Making a travelogue was one of the difficult task yet exciting. As we were doing the task, we encountered different challenges that test our teamwork and cooperation. The biggest challenge that we encountered in accomplishing the task was time management becuase of the hectic schedules and we had a lot of things to do. But, we were able to do the task by managing our time. We went to their place during weekends and we even work during holidays just to accomplish and finish the task.
In this task, each members of our group has contributions because we were given a certain task that we need to work on. In my case, I actually contributed in my group—like planning what place we are going to visit and the things we need to do and accomplish. My presence, cooperation and participation actually help the group in accomplishing the task. In this task, I was assigned in making or creating introductions or descriptions of our travelogue. As a member of the group, I did my part and I was able to help them throughout the making process. I was happy and proud of myself that I was able to accomplish the task that was given to me. Thank God that my groupmates were really active and participative. They were actually happy and amazed of what I was doing. Every time I was given a task, I really do it beforehand because sometimes if I tend to let things undone, at the end of time I’m the one who suffers.
Doing this kind of task helps you know and discover your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to this matter. As a member of the group, I discovered that one’s presence and cooperation were very important in making things possible. On the other hand, as a leader of the group I actually realized that one’s effort, time, presence, and cooperation were really important and needed in accomplishing the task.
Going to a place and discovering its culture was quite challenging yet enjoyable, because when you were already at that place, you can meet and socialize new people with different way of living. You can also witness and see the beautiful spots that the place had. Regarding the place that we visit which is the Babatngon, was really beautiful especially its view and surroundings. I also discovered that, there are beautiful tourist spots that are still not known or familiar by the people. It only needs to develop and promote this kind of tourist spots for the people to be aware and familiar of the spots that the Babatngon, Leyte has. One of the best tourist spots that we featured was the “Balay ni Tatay”, because in this place was very quiet and there are different beautiful views that you can see and enjoy with.
Working in a group is quite difficult and challenging, the fact that you will work as a group, there are some members who were not helping the group. Working a task in a group has actually an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage of working in a group is that, it makes the work easier and faster. While, the disadvantage is that, there are times that some of the group members are not helping, they also not doing the assigned task that were given to them. It takes effort, sacrifice and cooperation to make the activity or task successful. Working in a group taught me to be responsible in doing the task. Also, we must know how to understand our group members whatever circumstances they were facing. But, there are good things happen when working in a group, like relationships became strong and our closeness with one another was strengthened. And my most memorable experience we had in featuring the place of Babatngon, was when we went to Busay Falls knowing that the falls has no water and I can't help laughing because of the look on their faces.
As a student, the experiences we had in this activity were important and beneficial because through this we'll be able to learn new things. We can also gain new learnings and lessons that will help us to become a better version of our self. As a future professional, this experiences will serve as a guide or basis in teaching his/her students. Also, it will help in applying in the real life situations he or she will encounter. And as a human being, it helps me appreciate the nature. It also helps me appreciate and love one's culture, language, and most especially the people living there.
Doing a travelogue was stressful yet enjoyable. Despite the struggles and shortcomings we've encountered it was still worth it, even though our output needs a lot of improvement. Nevertheless, it was well done and successful.
The experience and journey we had in this activity gives new opportunities. Traveling and meeting new people was fun and memorable. The two days travelogue experience we had in Babatngon, Leyte was great, fun, and enjoyable because we were able to discover the hidden tourist spots of this place. It also helps us learn and discover new things, that help us to become a better version of our self.

“The Miseducation of the Filipino”
The article entitled “The Miseducation of the Filipinos” that was written by Professor Renato Constantino talks about the educational system in the Philippines. In this article, the author emphasizes that the educational system of the Philippines was patterned in the American educational system which worked in the beginning. But in the end, after the Philippines gain their own independence, the context of the educational system no longer worked because it is only good in America’s culture. In this article, it was also shown and demonstrated how Western countries influenced the Philippines. Thus, this article will give an impression about the educational system in the Philippines.
“Education is essential for people striving for economic emancipation, political independence and cultural renaissance”. This statement simply describes the importance and value of education to all people especially in dealing to certain society or culture. Filipinos were dominated by the Americans through education. For how many years, Philippines were colonized and controlled by the Americans because their education system was patterned to what education system that the America have. Constantino restated that capturing the mind is the best means of conquest. By that, Filipinos were educated by the Americans to become good colonials. The educational system established by the Americans could not have been for the sole purpose of saving the Filipinos form illiteracy and ignorance. Filipinos were taught to write, read and speak in English. Hence, Filipinos became literate, but they were brain washed and became strangers to their culture and history of their own country. Filipinos tend to forget their past and from where they belong because they were already shaped and influenced by the Americans. Even the economic life of the Filipinos were controlled, to the extent that we imitate things of what the American is practicing. Also, Filipinos were disoriented to their nationalist goals because they had to become good colonials. The use of English as medium of instruction caused division among the Filipinos, educated were separated from the masses of their countrymen. Relationship between two countries was built because of the education system, but there is a wide gap between this countries especially the state of the Philippines. Economically speaking, U.S. is a fully developed nation, but the Philippines is underdeveloped nation well in fact we are controlled and colonized by the Americans. Thus, Philippines must also become a developed nation for it is ruled over the America. The country was also portrayed by Americans as an agricultural nation that should remain as one and they instill to the Filipino minds that industrialization is not good for them. Moreover, miseducation of the Filipinos becomes the barrier to democracy of different aspects like the education system, politics, economy, culture and the independency of our country. Miseducation of the Filipinos causes an unending problems that had strike the foundation of our education curriculum and the worse thing is it had affected Filipinos tremendously and extensively. Thus, it only shows that economically, politically and culturally, the U.S. is the master of our own house.
Upon reading the article about the miseducation of the Filipinos, I learned and realized many things especially about the history and relationship between the American and Filipinos. It is quite intriguing, what is really the main reasons for Americans in taking power over the Philippines, and Americans succeeded in almost every aspect of conquering the land. The indigenous ways of life of Filipinos had been changed to the American way of life, and it was disappointing because we already forgot our past, culture, and history of our own country. It was also ridiculous because indeed, America and Philippines is different from each other in so many ways, therefore, their ways of life based on their different needs should be entirely different. And I beg to disagree that Filipinos must conform to the Americans. We must not let other countries ruled and controlled our country for we have the freedom to live a peaceful and meaningful life in our own country. Furthermore, the education of the Filipino must be a Filipino education. It must be based on the needs and goals of the nation. And we must have our primary objective, and that is to produce a citizenry that appreciates and is conscious of its nationhood. In general, I liked this article because it restate the importance of education to not only produce literate people but also to produce people who would use education for the betterment of their nation.

10 Things you can do to Boost Self-Confidence
Visualize yourself as you want to be
Affirm yourself
Do one thing that scares you every day
Question your inner critic
Take the 100 days of rejection challenge
Set yourself up to win
Help someone else
Care for yourself
Create personal boundaries
Shift to an equality mentality
“Nobody is born with limitless self-confidence.” We all know that every individual possess different characteristics that helps people know the true identity of the person. In boosting ones confidence has two possibilities, it could either help you to change for the better or it will just harm you. But, it is in our hands on how we are going to deal those things. In the ten (10) things that are listed above there are two things that I consider that will make someone conceited or narcissistic. First, is to take the 100 days of rejection challenge”, so you purposefully making crazy requests of people in order to be rejected over 100 days. Sometimes rejection is a good thing to do but most of time rejection cause pain. Thus, we must not reject things that are important and beneficial because it will help in changing one’s life and one’s culture. Second, is to “set yourself up to win”, it states that we must concentrate on our successes and forget failures. Therefore, people tend to forget their failures and just focus on their success. It is just sad that we tend to forget our failures but, we should not do that because our failures serve as our guide or motivation to correct our mistakes and flaws. Thus, we just need to believe ourselves that we can do it, because in this world nothing is impossible.

What if the Farmers lifted their hands up in the air?
Farmers face a lot of challenges everyday – expensive farm supplies, new breed of pests, very small to no return of investment, little support from the government and other relevant sectors, and climate change. Ironically, many of these food producers belong to the country's poorest sectors and are vulnerable to hunger.
This scenario continues as a cycle not just in the community, but in many rural farming areas in the Philippines. On the global context, studies project that the global population will reach 9 billion by 2050. This means that more resources will be needed to meet basic human needs: food, water, shelter.
Given this, there rises a need to do more with less. In agriculture, this will be the greatest challenge of our future farmers: how can we feed the hungry planet with less resources?
What if our farmers give up on being farmers? What if they’ll get tired of the same old ways? What if they’ll sell their farms for commercial use? What if they’ll not see the purpose of what they do anymore? What if they’ll give up on us? What can be done to change these “what ifs”?
First, Investment on the Farmer's needs. Our farmers in the Philippines need empowerment, appreciation, and support. They need access to quality and affordable farm supplies that can guarantee them good returns. They also need the knowledge, skills, and technologies to combat the present challenges of the changing climate. Investment on the health of farmers, and financial and business literacy should also be a priority of our government and other stakeholders. Our farmers need to be healthy and business-minded to advance the agricultural sector.
Second, inclusive growth for smallholder farmers in rural areas. Smallholder farmers are very important in our food system. They will play a big role in feeding our hungry planet in the next decades to come. Most importantly in rural areas where the farms and farmers are full of potential. With this, there’s a need of public and private partnerships with the smallholder farmers in rural areas. Businesses and government sectors should consider directly buying agricultural products from smallholder farmers, and not through middlemen. This will advance inclusive growth, rural development, and win-win partnerships.
Third, sustainable ecological agricultured and focus on innovation. Agricultural development should not cost the imbalance of our ecosystem. Agriculture can contribute in lessening carbon footprint, and our farmers can play a big role in achieving this. Responsible use of agricultural resources like water, land, and chemicals can significantly decrease carbon footprint. Innovations that can truly help our farmers should not be kept in laboratories or libraries. They should be brought to them in the field where the real problems are. The scientific community working on agricultural innovations should also be fair on the price of their products and services. Affordable and efficient innovations can be the best way our farmers can use to advance agriculture, and also their quality of life.
Fourth, no to food waste and empowerment of youth in agriculture. Food waste is an insult to our farmers. Respecting our food by consuming what is enough for us is a way of respecting our farmers who worked hard to produce it.
Moreover, food waste is a global problem, and a challenge to sustainable development. Globally, around 1.3 billion tonnes of food are lost or wasted every year. This can actually feed the world’s hungry and food poor – including our farmers. So make sure your next meals will not contribute to this statistics. The average age of a Filipino farmer is 57. On an important note, the Filipino youth has little or no interest in agriculture. With ageing farmers and uninterested youth, how will the future of our agricultural sector look like?
The youth should be empowered to contribute to our agriculture sector. Scholarships in agriculture should be prioritized by relevant stakeholders. Youth, especially in rural farming communities should be empowered with advanced knowledge and skills in agricultural developments and innovations.
Let us not wait for the time when our farmers will give up on us. It is time to rethink how each of us can help them, even in small ways.

“Truth behind the Faith”
Nouns can be proper, common, concrete, abstract, and collective. In this time I gonna answer a question if God is concrete or abstract, proper or common, countable or non-countable, singular or plural; collective or compound? Well, every one of us has their own perceptions and stands towards things especially this kind of issue. We can’t deny the fact that this topic/issue is very controversial and intriguing because every individual has their own beliefs and values in life. Thus, we can’t please them to follow and believe what we believe in.
God is considered as the most powerful holy being. God, is the center and focus of religious faith, a holy being or ultimate reality to whom worship and prayer are addressed especially in monotheistic religions. God is considered the creator or source of everything that exists and is spoken of in terms of perfect attributes. Most religions traditionally ascribe to God certain human characteristics that can be understood either literally or metaphorically, such as will, hope, love, anger, and forgiveness.
There comes a time in our lives when we pray to more than one God. We may look for blessings from multiple Gods and have beliefs in ideologies that map to multiple Gods and with that idea, God is considered as a common noun. Most of us will agree that since God is not seen, the word is an abstract noun. By all means, God and His presence felt by us in our daily lives. We can recollect many instances rampant with distress and despair in our lives. Those moments pass away and sunshine returns to us – with God’s Grace. If we reflect on those times, we will definitely be able to see a helping hand, a force which was miraculous in nature. Atheists may argue that even without the helping hand, good times would have arrived. But, we need to understand and appreciate the presence of a power which is capable of moving mountains, the power that brings good luck, cheer and above all, infuses qualities within us that enables us to do great things. This invisible force is nothing but God (Mankad, 2013).
God is capitalized when it functions as a name. In this use, God is a proper noun like any other name and does not take a definite or indefinite article. But in phrases like the Biblical god and a forgiving god, which do have articles, there’s no need to capitalize god because it is a common rather than a name—yet many religiously inclined writers still capitalize the word in these instances. When the noun god is used generically, especially in reference to a non-Biblical god, it is not capitalized. English speakers also traditionally capitalize the pronoun He in reference to God. This remains a common practice among people of faith, but it is by no means obligatory. However, in phrases like for God’s sake, by God, and thank God, the word is capitalized because it generally refers to the god of the Bible and treats the words as a name.
As to the singularity and plurality of the term “God,” it is dependable of one’s religion affiliation. For instance, rock, and rocks, is similar to the Biblical, “One and only God,” vs. “God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit,” except that each member of rocks, is completely separate from every other rock, in every case. But every member of “God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit,” is each understood as exactly one person, but still exactly one “God,” individually or collectively. Like, John the Apostle quotes Jesus (John 10:34) as having said, I say, 'you are gods.' Jesus was quoting Asaph, who arguably was speaking on God's behalf, in the 82nd Psalm, “gods,” here, is obviously plural. The English language accepts god(s), as used here, as either singular or plural. But, "God," which conveys an idea, not a thing, is strictly singular. Usually, capitalization has nothing to do with the meaning of a term, excepting when the term indicates a name. But "God," isn't really a name, but an idea. Jehovah, is a name, as well as Jesus, but “God,” is an idea, as is “rock (when generalizing all the classes of rock).”
Based on the theology of the Trinity being a single entity rather than separate entities working in unison. This is a hotly debated issue in Christian theology, not a given, making it loaded. Since the nature of the trinity is the basis of your question, it's not grammatical. Moreover, your question asks about "translations," which means it's not asking about English but the original text, which is presumably Greek, Hebrew, and/or German, depending on whatever version of the Bible you are talking about, so not English. – Benjamin Harman Jan 15 '16 at 5:56. It is axiom that the Judeo-Christian God, when identified using the root, "god," will always be capitalized in proper English, and that "God" will never be pluralized as in "Gods." Inferior, mythological "gods" may be pluralized and will always maintain as lowercase in proper English and this is a common assumption.
Acceptance of God is always mooted upon. But the facts remain what they are – God lies within a human being, dwells in a belief, resides in a faith. Whatever noun the word may be in terms of grammar, life would be void in absence of the word “God” (Mankad, 2013).

“Reading is a Discount Ticket to Everywhere”
-Mary Schmich
How can reading multiple texts/sources improve your comprehension/understanding of a particular topic?
From time to time people may wonder why reading is important in fact there seems so many other things to do with one’s time. Reading is an essential skill that an individual need to acquire and process in order to be successful in life. It develops the mind and imagination and it is how we discover things. Hence, reading has a lot of contributions for the development and betterment of one’s capabilities.
Multiple texts improve students’ application of reading thinking strategies, vocabulary and comprehension. Through the use of multiple texts, all students have the opportunity to learn new information and make meaningful contributions to the discussions. Moreover, varied texts provide multiple perspectives that help students rethink events and issues that impact everyone and deepen their knowledge of literary genres. Furthermore, using multiple texts in a single unit has another benefit like students are introduced to multiple perspectives on a topic rather than being limited to the single view presented in any one text. Therefore, reading multiple texts provide diverse ideas that will change ones perspectives and views in life.
Reading is a way where we can travel and explore in different dimensions of the world. Through reading we can be able to acquire and be aware of the different social, political and economic issues. Poverty is one of the economic issues that is very rampant here in our country. Thus, in order for us to have a better understanding on how to overcome or eradicate poverty we must need to read multiple texts that is related to financial literacy, because if we read texts that has connections about poverty, we will be able to gain new ideas like the different strategies that will help and give us a better understanding in overcoming such.
Understanding a particular topic needs a lot of things to do, and one of this is to read multiple texts because through reading we will be able to acquire new information that are based on facts and are reliable. Multiple texts enable teachers to offer students a books that they can read and rely on that will improve students’ application of reading-thinking strategies. Reading requires the utilization of many mental processes as information was collected, processed and analysed. However, an individual needs to be able to breakdown, analyse, and re-organize ideas and information after reading multiple texts. In that way, we able to think out of the box and have further understanding about a particular topic. Thus, reading multiple texts is very useful because as we process information, comprehension is developed.

Little Things, Make Big Days.
-Isabel Marant
The Leyte Normal University celebrated its 98th Founding Anniversary last March 4-8, 2019 with a theme “Overcoming Challenges, Sustaining Integrity and Excellence.” This celebration is important especially to the students because this is time we will be able to show our talents and hidden capabilities. This will also help us mold and shape our personalities and of course this event will serve as an avenue to become a competitive student that upholds integrity and excellence.
The celebration made everyone busy and excited. As freshmen students of the University, we were tasked to perform a festival dance specifically the Sanggutan Festival of Barugo, Leyte which they called “Tribu Dagaang” and this was chosen by our instructor Mr. Jeffrey Equipaje. At first I attended the meeting for the upcoming activities and we were given an option to choose whether to be a performer, props maker and props carrier. Since, I am involved in the musical play of our organization, the English Circle I chose not to perform and instead I chose to be a props maker because I know that the play will really demand especially our presence and time. Although, I really want and loved to perform, but I cannot do otherwise because I have other things to do and we should be committed on it. But, I still help the group in making the props and costumes of the dancers because it is also needed and mandatory for our subject. From the first day of props making, I really help and get involved especially that I am the leader in our class that is why I have more responsibilities than the other. This celebration actually tests our patience, hard work and obedience because every after of our practice in the play, we directly proceed to the left-wing of the gymnasium to help and to do our part in making the props and costumes for the festival. In this celebration, we exerted lots of effort and time in making all the things needed for the festival especially the costumes and props of the dancers. Unexpectedly, a problem arose when we discovered that we lacked people who will carry the props and backdrops for the festival dance. That is why we don’t have any choice but to volunteer ourselves as props carrier. Afterwards, we were already given a designated tasked on what to carry, but here comes another problem regarding with our play where there has several changes especially the time for the practice and it already causes some trouble and conflicts with our dance festival. Sad to say we weren’t able to perform and carry the props because of the circumstances. But, whatever happened the important thing is that we helped the group and we selflessly gave our time for the success of the festival.
Those days was an opportunity for all of the students and faculty to enjoy because with that span of time we were able to enjoy the different fun-filled activities as we forget all the paper works and accomplishments that needs to deal with. During this time, we were able to have bond and time with our friends and classmates without thinking about school works. This celebration really gave us an opportunity to have new friends and build a strong relationships with each other. Likewise, I am happy and proud that I am part of the musical play because we were able to have an outstanding performance that tend the viewers to stood up and clap for us. This experience has lots of challenges but it brings new lessons that can really change our perspective and principles in life. All of us were dignified and happy because all of the restless days and sleepless nights were paid off. The play was a success one because the crowd enjoyed and gave their resounding applause after we perform. Thus, foundation week was really a worth remembering event that can be cherished by everyone.

“Lexical Categories”
In the previous activity we were tasked to make a concept paper about the lexical categories and afterwards we came up an infogrpahic. Infographic will serve as a tool to allow people to easily digest information through the use of visual data and with the proper use of color and information that can be transformed into memorable, attention-grabbing and even persuasive graphics.
Morphology is a branch of linguistics and it involve in the internal structure and form of the words in a language, in the same way in phonology it involve in meaning distinguishing speech sounds. We can break down words into smaller units by analysing its structure and identify its systematic processes. In linguistic terminology, the minimal parts of words that were analysed are called morphemes. I also learned different terminologies that encompasses about the lexical categories. Morphemes come in different varieties, depending on whether they are free or bound and inflectional or derivational. The parts of speech or lexical categories are usually grouped into two categories: the major and minor classes. The major word classes—nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs—are termed “major” because they carry most of the content or meaning of a sentence. While the minor classes include adpositions, pronouns, determiners/article, and conjunctions. These words are sometime called “structure” words or “function” words, or even “functors.” Each category plays an important role in the structure of the sentence because these categories will help to make the sentence syntactic correct or good. And if we take a look at it and not mind on its function in the sentence I think it will change and cause some error in the sentence that is why each categories are very important.
In general, learning about the lexical categories are quite challenging yet useful especially if you are a language student because through this you will be able to know when and how to use those categories especially if we are dealing with the structures and forms of the words in a sentence and even in a language.
