Wall texture - kylion
We spent a while messing around with the wall textures to create the environment we wanted for each room. For example,
Whenever we attempted to put a pattern on a wall, it would cause the image to go into a tiling most, now matter the size or ratio that the image was placed into the software. We originally wanted to have a very rural area for Josh’s work and a city-scape area for Kylion’s work, almost mimicking where our work would have been if we hadn’t been held back by the Pandemic. Through the trial and error we eventually found out that there was no way to actually place an image and cause it to not tile and to stay in proportion.
Now we had this problem we had to decide as to between what textures that were ready given to us by the software suited our work the best, we ended up using the plain stone wall, as it allowed us to represent the almost urban vibe to josh’s work, In a way even looking quite like a bunker, which again plays into josh’s work and the location he took the photographs at.

Room layout - Kylion
Room layout was one of the most interesting parts of the exhibition, We wanted to make the exhibition as exclusive as possible, creating an experience that most people would never see in their life. Providing a small yet individual viewing experience that would take you somewhere you had never been before.
Initially our idea was to use a layout like this,
When previewing this room layout in the final draft, we realized that it didn't form the environment we wanted from the start, almost as though the images didn’t stand out enough with this layout, through this we opted out of using a Y shape layout and wanted to create 2 fully isolated rooms, that as you step in allowed everyone to feel something very unique. The 2 room idea gave us very positive feedback, many people felt as though it was the missing element. Before we made the change, the room was too big and almost created quite an empty room no matter how big the photographs were displayed.
After all the editing and trial and error, the room ended up being like this

Choice of images - Kylion
As both Josh and I had to create an experience that stood out from what people are used to seeing, so we decided to use photographs that most people may never see or even pay attention to in life. Josh’s choice of an industrial photography set allowed us to recreate our idea of having 1 billboard in a rural area and 1 in an urban area (theoretically). Josh's photographs were used as a the rural area photography to open people up to a new industrial area that they never knew existed. Check josh’s work below
My work was focused on the people who live in urban areas who may never pay attention to whats going on around. Knowing this, I wanted to highlight an abstract view of the everyday, using high contrast and dark colours to highlight the parts of the general daily route I take and capturing the essence of what was hidden, hidden from plain sight. Sometimes our own mind denies the concept of looking beyond what we are used to. Check my images below

Virtual Tour - Kylion
The virtual tour focused on highlighting the parts of the exhibition we wanted to get across, for example the route we took around the whole exhibition.
This was an initial idea but that soon got changed to this
As you can see from the above images, I decided to make a large divider between the rooms, as I released that the rooms within themselves couldn't reach the potential we wanted if they had no middle split. Without the divider it seemed as though the rooms didn’t feel like enough of an experience. We wanted our exhibition to allow people to step awake and focus on what is in front of them and the only way that we felt we could do that was creating this barrier. The feedback we got from this choice was very good, people felt as though it added a new dynamic to why the experience as a whole felt very individual and unique.

Poster - Kylion
I wanted to create a poster that applies top the followers form my social media account, as we were mainly focusing on promotion through our own personal accounts. As many of my followers are involved within the fine art industry, I wanted to use a style of poster i’m used to making. A mix of image and text composition, framing and obscure ratios to create an interesting yet weird style.
I feel as though i left enough of the exhibition unknown to the poster viewer. I wanted to make something that would interest me to click myself, showing a mix of the previewed images and empty space to create almost an experience within itself, an odd art style.
My feedback i got from it was positive, see below
I got good feedback form the views i received on both the exhibition and poster. Both a friend and follower of mine, https://www.instagram.com/7m00n_/ said to me that i had interested him through the unusual ratio usage on the text, as though he felt that the text differed the photos quite alot, this made him want to visit the exhibition and see for himself what it really was.

Exhibition Choice - Kylion
GALLERY VS BILLBOARD
Which one truly represents our topic and style of work, we spent a while deciding whether to do just the billboard on a wall or to create our own full space. The idea of using a space rather just a wall allows both me and josh to highlight the experience around the exhibition, I wanted to create something that allowed people to fully immerse and in a way disconnect from their own lives. As our exhibition was focused on ‘taking away from the usual life we are used to’, I believed it was only right that we made a space that would represent our work as truly as possible.
Our initial inspiration came from examples below,
Subvertising was an initial idea that allowed us to explore the idea of art that wouldn't normally been shown in commercial areas, but due to the corona virus affecting us, there was little chance of us using commercial areas in real life, so instead we had to change to creating our own immersive experience. Subvertising showed to be not effective as it wouldn't show to the target audience that we intended online, if the billboard idea had gone through we would have had a much different target audience as many people would naturally see it as they walk through the city.
