Since the holiday toy drive post is circulating again, I figured this would also be helpful! Food insecurity is such a massive problem in America, in general, and if you have the means to help feed others, I think you should take that opportunity. Here are some other tips:

1. If you’re planning on donating items from your own pantry, please check the expiration dates on the packaging. Think of your donations as gifts to bestow, not castoffs to be rid of. It’s awful to think of people feeling like they got scraps someone else just didn’t want. Everyone deserves dignity with their meals.

2. If you’d rather give money to a food bank, that’s also great since they buy food in bulk and know what items are most wanted/needed!

3. Not everyone has access to appliances like stoves or microwaves or hot plates so if you can donate items that don’t need to be heated up, that would also be greatly appreciated!

“Fowl play’s a foot!”

THIS JUST IN― On the 22nd of June 1920, there’s been a murder at the Ostend Pier, the victim was a 33-year-old bird vendor by the name of Jerome “Jerry” Gar.

His wife had found him at around 2:30 a.m., fatally shot in the head, bruised and battered with multiple cigar burns littering his neck and back.

On her run to go get help, she had reportedly saw two dark figures fleeing away from the scene of the crime, suspected to be the killers.

Local authorities were soon alerted, and are currently investigating the area.

Newly divorced Robert “Bobbie” Milou had acquired a peculiar pet cockatiel after spending a drunken night out on the pier.

Despite being quite fond, he had refused to take him in; not being in the right place to take care of a bird.

He’s left his wallet behind somewhere and plans to retrace his steps from the previous night to find it― returning the bird too while he’s there.

Though it seems fate has other plans, as the vendor he’d bought Tintin from was murdered and the bird had some involvement with it.

After a brief scuffle with the police, due Tintin and by proxy, him disturbing an ongoing investigation, he now has to work with the law in order to find out who and why did they kill Jerry Gar? A humble vendor who just made a living by selling birds and according to those that knew him, claimed to have never made any enemies.

This the plot of me and @professorcalculusstanaccount 's story titled the ‘The Budgerigar Burglars’ — a role-reversal AU we've been write-shopping for about a year now. It sets on the premise of if Milou were a mute, divorced, alcoholic old man and Tintin was a cockatiel with the intelligence of an African grey parrot.

I’m lowkey nervous but all the while very excited to post, since this is my first collaboration and also because it's the first longfic I’ve ever written (to put into perspective, chapter 1 is 4200 words long atm and I have yet to finish it lol)

Chapter 1 might come out on Dec, 14th or Jan, 5th — we'll just have to wait and see!

There was a moment in the comic when Tintin decided to tie the bandits with wires from a downed power line, and it killed me, because Tintin is so reckless that even electricity does not take him, and then another similar moment happened later and now I have a lot of memes with Tintin and wires 😀💅

I’m a crochet nut, I crochet things 😜🧶

Anyways, I wanted to show off a project I’ve had in the works for a long time.

I decided to make myself a crocheted Tintin amigurumi doll, my longest project yet. But believe me, completing it was worth it!

My process below, as well as doll pics:

My Tintin doll was a very…interesting project to tackle. Much of it was all a process of trial and error; it was a matter of finding the right color yarns, as well as using the correct crochet hook to make a reasonably sized doll.

I tried using a 5mm hook and I wound up scrapping the initial project because my doll wound up too big.

So I decided to use a 2.5mm crochet hook. I followed a tutorial on constructing a basic amigurumi doll by Limlenn crochet on YouTube. And I managed to make my doll smaller. But then the clothes…

I initially wanted to make the clothes removable, including the shirt, pants, and shoes. But I was making my Tintin doll a seated doll, which of course presented a lot of difficulties. So I went with making the shoes part of the legs and making separate pant leg pieces to attach to the body, with the shirt being the only removable piece of clothing.

And, lo and behold, I have finally completed him! I still find it so surreal that I actually have it done.

And before you ask, I will make Snowy eventually! I just need to rest my fingers for a while.

And stay tuned for (possibly) Haddock and maybe Chang amigurumi dolls soon…

I say soon as in, I don’t know if I’ll do them or not.
