Today was a pretty good day. The weather is warming up this week which makes walking to class a lot more enjoyable. I went to my one class for the day and got to leave a bit early because I already finished my project. After leaving class I went to the print lab to get the flash drive that I had left there by mistake a few days ago. I also printed a few things for my class tomorrow.
Then I got on the bus to head back home. I decided to get myself Starbucks first, however, so that I could stay motivated to do homework once I got back. I took the long way from the bus stop because it was so nice out. When I got back I cleaned my apartment and then started my homework. Later I made dinner and then watched a movie before getting ready for bed.

Today was a lazy day. I stayed in bed most of the morning to catch up on sleep. Then I made my friends and me bagel sandwiches for lunch. we had debated going to a breakfast place but it was cheaper and likely better to make it at home. We did however decide to treat ourselves to Starbucks. Then after that, we all just hung out and did homework together while watching a show in the background. the show is one we have all seen several times over so it isn't too distracting while doing homework. After a while dinner time rolled around so we all went out to grab food together at a nearby restaurant. Then finally we went to a store to find splurchases for class. Afterward my friend headed home and then I just chilled the rest of the night.

Today was relatively eventful. The day started out slowly. I made a quick breakfast and eventually went out for coffee with a friend. Then in the afternoon, I had to go into the studio with a few friends so that we could make more progress on our projects. One of my friends picked us up so we didn't have to take the bus which can be unreliable on the weekend. We saved a lot of time not taking the bus so we had more time to work. We worked in St.paul for several hours and even ordered a pizza midway through so that we could stay fueled to work. The processes that go into this project are very time-consuming. between each print layer, you have to clean all of the materials which is very tedious. It's a water-intensive process because of the number of times you have to clean things. We didn't end up making as much progress as we all had hoped but I was able to finish half of my project which was nice.
After we called it a day at the studio we drove back home. My friend was coming over so we just waited around before she arrived. Then we all played some games, made dinner and talked. Then most of us got ready to go out for the night.

Today, like most Fridays, was rather boring. I woke up around 6 naturally so I started out the day tired. I spent the better half of the morning lounging and preparing myself for the amount of homework I would be doing later. I had a lot of readings and lecture notes to catch up on which I knew would be very draining and time-consuming. I should have done the readings when I was supposed to so I wouldn't have as many chapters to read but It's hard to find the motivation during the week.
As expected I spent the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon doing homework. Then in the evening, I decided to make some roasted vegetables. It took a while to prepare the vegetables but it's always worth the time. For the rest of the night, I hung out with my roommates and went on my phone.

Today in class I got a second layer of printing done on top of my monoprints. I worked on the part of the design that I was most excited about and It made me slightly more confident. However, after looking at others' designs I wasn't too sure about mine. I hope it will come together a bit more as I keep working on it.
My second and third classes of the day were mostly uneventful. They are both lectures and are in the same room so it can be difficult to remain focused. Before my last class, a couple friends and I decided that we would stay late to work in the studio to try and make some progress on our screen printings. However, when we got down to the studio there was another class in a session that wasn't going to end for 2 more hours. So we had to give up that dream. Instead, we went to the imaging lab to shoot headshots for each other. we had planned on going there after being in the studio anyway but now we just went earlier.
After taking a couple hundred photos we all walked back to our apartments in the cold. then I decided to take it easy the rest of the night.

Today I went to my text and image class. In class, we did a critique of our in-progress poster designs. I thought many people's designs looked really nice. My instructor liked my design too which made me a lot more confident and excited. I only have minor adjustments that I will have to make before it's due which is nice because I have other things that need more of my time this week.
After class, I headed home and made some lunch. Then I decided to work on the poster for my group project in my interior design class. I told my group that I'd take care of the poster part of the project because I have graphic design experience. I finished the entire poster in one sitting and I was pretty happy with the result. Now that it's done, our group I more or less finished with the project.
I finished the poster around 3 which gave me just enough time to prep my dinner before I had to join my zoom at 4. I chopped up a bunch of vegetables so that after my zoom I could make a stir fry. I used 2 large carrots, half an onion, some broccoli, and half a bell pepper.
After my class, I cooked up the vegetables with soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. I made enough stir fry so that there will be leftovers for my dinner tomorrow.

Today I woke up and did my usual morning routine. In my first class, I made much progress on my self-portrait project. I printed several monoprints on the backside of recycled prints from previous students. There are thousands of left behind or forgotten prints that are stacked up in a pile almost 2 feet high. I decided to just repurpose those rather than use the brand-new paper. I also got to expose my screen to light to create y design that I had previously designed. to expose the frame I taped my transparency with the design onto the emulsion-coated screen. The screen is then placed into a vacuum-sealed chamber and exposed to a very bright light. After the screen is exposed for about a minute, I sprayed the screen with water to wash out the unhardened emulsion resin to reveal the design. I have yet to print with the screen so I am nervous to see how it will look.
In my next class, there was a guest speaker from a large architecture firm. she was very inspiring and great to listen to. then in design and its discontents a group presented their findings from their assigned readings. being the first group to present I think they did a really great job. They presented the information clearly and concisely.
Later I went home and made a sandwich for dinner. then I did some work on a poster design, watched a movie, and then headed to bed.

Today was one of the coldest days on campus of the semester so far. I had to leave for class at 8. at that time the weather said it "feels like -26". So to avoid freezing, I had to bundle up. I wore double of almost everything. I had two pairs of socks, thermals under my regular clothes, gloves underneath mittens, a hat, and a scarf. And yet, I still somehow managed to be cold.
After class, I sat down to work on the homework I had avoided doing over the weekend. I worked for several hours because I was in a creative rut. I got a few rough drafts done so I felt partially successful. Then my roommates came home and we headed to the grocery store. She needed to stock up and I forgot a few things when I went shopping on Sunday so I said I'd tag along. After we got back I ate leftovers for dinner and then winded down for the night by watching a few episodes of a show.

Today was the end to a weekend full of relaxation. after packing up everything in our hotel room we headed to the car. For breakfast, instead of eating at the restaurant again, we decided to go to Starbucks to save time and money. Afterward, we went to Trader Joe's so that I could grab a few groceries to set me up for the week. I spent around $40 on some essentials (and pretty flowers of course) and then it became time for me to go back to my apartment and for my family to start their journey back up north.
The rest of my day consisted of finishing up a few assignments and being pretty lazy. I caught up with my roommates and listened to their stories from the weekend. I watched some youtube and tiktok which was weird because I wasn't on my phone much at all the past two days. I debated going to target with my roommate but in the end, we determined it was just too cold. I'm not too excited about the forecasted weather this week.

Today was one of the most relaxing days I have ever experienced. First thing in the morning my mom, sister, and I got up and headed to the workout center. We worked out for a little over an hour and then went back to the room to get ready for breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. Then around 11, we made our way to the spa.
The spa had really beautiful interiors and a relaxing aura. There were several seating areas to hang out and wait for appointments. Our appointments weren't scheduled until later, however, so we got to use the other amenities for a while. There was an outdoor hot tub, a dry sauna, a steam room, and a salt room. All of these spaces require a significant amount of energy to run. The hot tub outside was working overtime considering the temperatures were single digits. Even so, the hot tub was still not able to keep up so it was more of a lukewarm tub. It was still very nice compared to the cold air. The sauna was very large and had 3 heaters to maintain the heat. the steam room also used a lot of energy to constantly produce steam. The sauna and steam room were a part of a nordic routine where you go from one to the other and ice in between. this caused a lot of energy and heat loss due to the doors being opened constantly.
Overall the experience was very unique and enjoyable. It definitely wont be something I do often but id like to go again.

Today, I had the privilege of sleeping in until 8 am which was very needed. Today My mom and sister are coming down to celebrate my sister's birthday. Before being picked up by them around 2, I had to keep myself busy. After using up the last of my bread and avocados to make breakfast, I decided to be productive and clean the bathroom. It wasn't super dirty so it didn't take long at all. I also did a load of laundry because I knew I would be gone for a couple days and would want to have clean laundry when I come back.
My family and I are going to a hotel with a spa for two nights which will be very fun. I've never been anywhere like this before. The spa treatments will be very appreciated after the first few weeks of the semester.
For dinner, we ate out at a Japanese restaurant. After dinner, to prepare for the full day of relaxation we went to the store to buy a few snacks to have for lunch.

Today I did my usual routine of making breakfast and getting ready. For breakfast, I made a compilation of many random things from my fridge. I am running on the basics as far as groceries go. I really need to get to the store so that I can restock for the coming week. This weekend my family is coming down so I'm hoping to get to the store while they're here. I want to spend some time this evening going over what exactly I want to buy so that I don't forget anything or buy something I already have or don't need.
In class: What are the first words that come to mind?
-organic, malformed, unique, bumpy
Potato 1A rating: 3/10
Potato 1B rating: 3/10 yes I would buy it
Potato 2B rating: 10/10 yes I would buy it
I would pick 2B over 1B because it looks like lower maintenance to wash and prep.
I would not give a dollar for a single potato however I would take a dollar for a potato.

Today was full of procrastination. In the morning I got up and went to my only in-person class of the day. In class, we went over homework assignments and critiqued each other's projects so far. My instructor also is doing the project but is working ahead of us and had a lot more to show. His work was very good and he did it in only a day which is quite intimidating. I will need to spend a lot more time outside of cases working on the project.
After class, I did almost nothing. It was really dark and gloomy so I felt like taking a day off from doing homework. to be fair there wasn't really anything I absolutely needed to do, but I definitely could have been a bit more productive. Regardless, I decided to watch a few episodes of a show and just relax for the rest of the day. I think it was necessary to give myself a break because soon the semester will become hectic and there wont be much time for relaxation.

Today was a very long day. I got up early to get to St. Paul and sat in my classes from 8 am until 4:15. I was on time for my morning class for the first time this semester because the buses were on schedule for once. In between classes, I ate some almonds, yogurt, and a granola bar. I also made iced tea in the morning to have during my day.
In design and discontents we discussed in our groups about our experiences over break. Over break, each of us did a variety of things. some constraints that came with the activities we did. Transportation was a big constraint. Many of us traveled home and out of state to visit family and spend time with friends. Driving, using services like Lyft, and flying were all modes of travel we used. Gas, plane tickets, and fees were significant areas of consumption and spending. some people had much further to travel which is a constrain whereas others didn't go far which is a liberating factor.

Today I woke up bright and early for my only class of the day. For breakfast, I had an egg with tomatoes and avocado. Unfortunately, the avocados I had were getting mushy and old so I cut open two avocados and salvaged what I could from each.
Once I got ready for the day, I hopped on the bus to the St.Paul campus. My class went by quickly being that it is only two hours long. The bus back to east bank was packed so I have to stand and hold on for dear life. Getting off the bus is even more difficult. The number of students using the busses is absurd. Many of them don't get off at the same stop as I do so I have to squeeze through to get out. After that whole ordeal, I walked home as fast as I could because I was freezing cold.
For the rest of the day, I did readings, sketches, and research for homework. Then I prepped some garlic roasted carrots and potatoes to have throughout the week.

Today started out rather slowly. My friends and I were up late the night before so we all slept in. Once we all got up we made omelets again because they were so good the day before. Then a bit later I convinced two of my friends to go to Starbucks so we walked there together. I got a latte and tried one of my friend's drinks. It was something I have never tried before and it might be my new go-to order. It has a lot less sugar than most of the drinks you can order at Starbucks which I really appreciate considering I don't like consuming so much sugar regularly.
The rest of the day we all sat around and did a little bit of homework. Afterward, I did some laundry and almost finished up the last bit of detergent. After my clothes dried I put them away promptly.
At the end of the day, I made myself a quick dinner and called my family briefly, then I decided to call it a night.

Today, I woke up around 8 but stayed in bed for a while waiting for my roommates to get up. Once they were up we made omelets with spinach and tomatoes. I made one of my roommates a chai while I prepared my own caffeine for the day. We used 4 eggs in total, meaning I will have to use them more sparingly in the coming week.
For the majority of the day, we all took it very easy. We did almost nothing until around 3 when we decided to get bubble tea. The store is only about a 5-minute walk from my apartment so it wasn't a lengthy outing.
Then around 7 my friends and I started getting ready because we had plans to go to another friend's house. Once we were all ready we hung out for a bit and then we headed out.
