alexander
For as long as Alexander could remember, there had been an emptiness in his stomach he had never been able to settle down. He had tried it all; from alcohol and drugs to falling in love. For over twenty years, the agent had felt incomplete, empty. Having Josephine in front of him, after endless nights of wondering and regretting— that feeling had vanished, replaced by a fleeting moment of peacefulness. The one missing link in his life, finally in his front door. It was only until he had his arms around her, that the weight of all the years, the fear and the regret washed him back. The journey to finding Josephine had been a rocky, painful one. But he knew nothing could compare to what the young girl had gone through. The pain, the rejection, the loneliness of it all… he could feel his heart break all over again. Upon hearing her speak those words he had longed to hear for over twenty years, Alexander couldn’t take it anymore. Years of pain coming out in a sob as he squeezed his sister closer to himself, warm tears running down his cheeks freely and all he finds himself able to say is “I’m so sorry” a handful of times that don’t feel enough. There’s a ton of reasons to feel sorry, after all. “I should’ve been there” he whispers. It had been his job, as her brother, to protect her from all, as he had done many times before. He had failed her and for that, she had slipped away, taken from her family. He breaks apart enough to look at Josephine’s eyes, one hand protectively coming to meet her cheeks, wiping away the tears streaming down. “There hasn’t been a day in my life that you didn’t cross my mind, Josie. I’ve looked for you everywhere… I am so sorry I failed you. I am sorry I couldn’t protect you. There wasn’t a day you didn’t cross our mind.”
Once the floodgates have opened, it’s practically impossible to close them back up. Twenty years worth of tears stream down her face, wetting Alex’s shirt in the process. She hears the countless I’m so sorry’s that leave her brother’s lips and it only makes her hold him that much tighter. “It’s okay...” Josephine whispers, still not quite ready to pull away from him. She longed for this moment ever since she was taken, fantasized about the day she’d see her big brother again. It had taken way longer than she’d ever expected, but god did it feel better than anything she could possible imagine. At last, Josie pull back to meet Alex’s eyes. A tiny sigh rolls off her tongue when his hand comes to cradle her cheek and she can’t help but lean into it, closing her eyes and drawing in a deep breath in order to calm herslef down. “It wasn’t your fault,” she whispers, slowly reopening her eyes to meet her brother’s gaze. “You couldn’t have known someone was going to call CPS, okay? It was shitty timing.” Josie gives Alex’s hand a quick squeeze. “You didn’t fail me, our parents did. You were just a kid, too, Alex.”

aubrey
𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐘𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 reserved for art gallery nights. Not a single year had passed ever since Aubrey had moved to the city when she didn’t occasionally end up visiting several all in one evening — and being an artist herself, she positively loved to soak up the atmosphere that usually came along with visiting an art show. It was a great way for her to socialize and occasionally meet some new people. Even if said people weren’t necessarily always as into the art as she was.
“Did you see anything you like yet?” the brunette asked, offering them a glass of sparkling champagne as her gaze fell on the buzzing crowds around them. “That pile of glitter really seems to be a total crowd favorite.” ( @villagestart )
As part of her initiative to get to know New York, Josie found herself in an art gallery, of all places. It had been her husband’s suggestion and since she’d never been to one before, she quickly jumped into the idea. Olivia, however, didn’t seem to be having a lot of fun. Art galleries weren’t the most exciting place for four year-olds when they weren’t allowed to run around or touch anything. Thankfully, Jo’s husband had been kind enough to take care of Liv while his wife explored the show a bit more. The blonde was admiring a piece when a familiar voice startled her out of her thoughts. Josephine glanced over and smiled when she saw Aubrey offering her a glass of champagne. “If I say everything, will I sound like it’s my first time in an art show so I have no idea what I expected?” she asks with a chuckle, taking the glass from Aubrey’s hand and taking a small sip. Josie follows Aubrey’s gaze and grimaces, “Don’t get me wrong, I love some glitter, but —” she lowers her voice before adding, “it totally seems like something my daughter would make.”

finley
𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐊𝐒 of owning The Albion was the sheer volume of live music he was treated to on a weekly basis. Finley was bobbing along to a set by a band of fellow Brits that he’d managed to book who were spinning out some contagious electropop disco vibes. So contagious, in fact, that he felt compelled to join in. “Bollocks…” He muttered as he patted down his shirt pocket, then front and back pockets of his jeans. “Have you seen my egg shaker? About yay big…” As he was asking the other, he held his fingers out to a length of a few inches. “Wooden… Shaped like an egg.” / @villagestart
She’s pretty sure she’s been promising to stop by The Albion since she first met Finley, but unpacking and organizing her new home had proven to take a lot longer than she’d ever expected and, on top of that, she’s been trying to settle on a new routine and... it was kind of a lot. However, as soon as her husband announced that he’d be taking Olivia to a daddy-daughter date in Central Park, Josie knew what her plans for the day were going to be. She looked up the address online and hopped on a cab, chatting easily with the driver while they were inevitably stuck in some traffic. The blonde smiles when she enters the establishment, the music and the aura of the place immediately making her feel welcome. She spots Finley in the distance and makes a beeline for him. He’s got his back to her, talking to someone about the egg shaker Josephine sees in one of the tables behind him. “Looking for this?” she asks, picking up the instrument and giving it a little shake.

roxelana
✶ — › OPEN STARTER ft anyone @villagestart
“And do you have that spiced vanilla bean one? I can’t remember what the frosting was but I swear to God my assistant talked about that cake for like a week the last time I got one from here.” Roxelana explained to the teller behind the counter, her melodic voice light and friendly as she spoke. A little treat for them to start off their latest project she supposed, and if she was going to be breaking her promise of eating healthy (she could always start the next day), then she was going to make sure it was truly worthwhile. “Oh and a carrot cake cupcake. But can you put that in a separate bag, because that is definitely not going to be making it to the office. That’s an en route treat just for me.” She laughed again, turning to the person beside her. “I know I shouldn’t but really, what difference is an extra cupcake going to make?”
Josie couldn’t, in her right mind, pass by the cute bakery on her way home one more time without stopping to grab some treats. And she was pretty sure Olivia agreed with her, if the way the four year-old squealed once they entered the establishment and she saw all the goodies on display. The blonde waits in line, keeping an eye on her daughter as she presses her face against the glass to peer down at a small display of cakes. Josie tries not to eavesdrop into the conversation between the woman next to her and the teller, but when the first turns to her to ask a question, it’s hard to ignore it. “None.” She replies immediately, chuckling softly. “Honestly, I admire your restraint — I’m pretty sure I’m gonna order half of what’s on display and tell my husband our daughter wanted ‘em all.”

alexander
There’s a puzzled look on Alexander’s face as the blonde speaks again, fingers grasping onto the teddy bunny Zoe seemed to adore, the other hand clasping onto the doorknob as she introduces herself. There’s a blissful moment where the name barely rings a bell and makes him frown further, utterly lost as of why the nickname feels familiar and just as his brain is about to go deep on old cases, trying to dig up her name from paper work, a memory unlocks. For over twenty years, Josephine has been a constant in the back of his mind on every waking moment, a name whispered on the halls as he asks for one more favor to find her without a clue of what he would do if he found her. Josephine is quite literally on his skin (or rather her birth day and their mom’s, the first tattoo he ever got; four years after her disappearance and a few months after Alycia’s death) and it’s almost comical how long it takes him to realize the person he had been looking for since he was twelve is standing in front of him; someone he can only recognize by the eyes that he can finally say are as tender as Alycias; his world freezes.
For years, Alexander had thought of what would happen, if he’d ever found his sister. He had spent years going through grand speeches and moments made for the big screen. Moments where, after years of being apart and suffering, the Warren siblings could finally unite and embrace as they had done many times before, when it was them against the world. However, as the blonde stands in front of him, expectant eyes glued on his, all he can do is blink, hands trembling. Twenty-two years later; the one constant in his mind through good and bad stands before him and Alexander is at lost. After what feels like an eternity of gaping, the blond drops the teddy bear, legs guiding him closer to the blonde, wild eyes focused on her as to make sure she isn’t another mirage created by his subconscious and he can feel the tears starting to form. “J—Josie” he manages to whisper back, tentatively reaching over to place a hand on her shoulder to make sure she is really there. A shaky breath escapes him as warm tears begin rolling down his cheeks.”It’s really you?” he whispers the query, even though there’s no denying she has the same wild and loving gaze he had promised to care for, all those many years ago. “I’ve been looking for you, all my life” he mentions. There’s an Alexander before Josephine’s disappearance and after, having her now in front of him almost feels too good to be true. There are many questions left in the air, many points to be tackled and many doubts to be resolved but, having his sister in front of him, all Alexander can muster in a shaky breath is “Can I hug you?”
Josephine waits with baited breath for Alexander’s reaction. She’s not sure how she expects him to react to the news, but she hopes he won’t slam the door on her face. Tears spring to her eyes unbidden and it takes all of her to keep them at bay, not wanting to become a blubbering mess before he even said a word. Her breathing hitches ever so softly while watching Alexander step closer, his hand landing on her shoulder somehow feels just as comforting as she’d remembered. A watery smile spreads across her lips as she nods, the first few tears rolling down her cheeks with the movement. “Yeah...” she whispers, unable to hold back the sob that flies past her parted lips. He’d been looking for her, too. Not that she had any doubts considering how close the two used to be when they were kids, but hearing it makes this whole thing a lot more emotional for the blonde. She reaches up to place a shaky hand on top of Alexander’s, giving his a light squeeze while nodding again, “Of course.” Had Josie’s emotions not been all over the place, she’d probably burst into laughter at his question. Instead, she closed the remaining distance between them, practically lurching herself into her brother’s arms. Her own slide around his waist and she burrows her face into the crook of his neck, inhaling deeply to commit his scent and this very moment to memory. After two decades, she’s finally hugging her big brother. “I’ve missed you so much.” she manages to say through the tears, voice a bit muffled by his clothes. “I-I’m sorry it took me so long...”

How are you liking life in New York?
“I’ve gotta say, though I’ve only been here for a month, New York has already started to grow on me. It’s a lot busier than what I was used to back in Florida but I quite like it. And there are actually seasons here, so that’s that. I’m sure I’ll like it even more once I’ve managed to visit some tourist spots and learn my way around the subway stations.”

elison
“I have twice as long legs as you do but dear, I do have a cane and the street is quite busy.” Elison hated when people knocked into his cane which caused him to stumble. It was annoying and something he had to deal with constantly. He just smiled kindly at Josie, knowing that she really didn’t do it on purpose. Shaking his head, he just started walking again, this time it was easier because she wasn’t rushing and he wasn’t trying to catch up. “Hey, I wasn’t dragged into that willingly! But I’m still here and I promise to be as honest as possible. Though I can’t promise that I really won’t judge when she picks a shite combination.”
Josephine waits another moment just to be sure he doesn’t need to stop and rest for a few minutes, only walking when Elison does first. “Please, would you ever say no to free cake?” She asks, raising a single brow at him before chuckling. “Well, I appreciate that and I’m sure so does the bride. It’s always good to have someone who’s gonna tell you that not everyone is going to be into a banana and praline combo.” The blonde laughs again, shaking her head while adjusting the strap of her bag up on her shoulder. “Just... don’t scare the poor woman, okay? Brides are like, really sensitive.”

Alexander was nothing if not grateful for allowing himself an easier office schedule upon getting the kids. He had gone from working twelve hours a day to sporadically appearing in the office whenever he was needed to, handling most things from home. This day, wasn’t any different. It had been about a week since Zoe and Jack had finally made his home their own— leaving traces of them whenever they had to go school for him to clean after, to miss. It had been hard, not to see a reflection of his own story on the two siblings. The things they had gone through before he met them, was a retell of what he and his little sister had gone through all those many years ago, one of the reasons he had gotten so involved with the case; because he could see him and Josephine in the two lost kids, he could understand Jack’s fear of losing his little sister, the same fear that had installed in him since he was twelve and hadn’t vanished despite the years. The years is halfway from cleaning after Zoe’s toys scattered around the living room while reading an email detailing the newest case his team was working on when he hears his doorbell, an octave quieter than usual due to Zoe’s fear of the loud sound, brows furrowed slightly. A pit settles on his stomach as he walks towards the door, a stuffed bunny wrapped on the hand that doesn’t open the door, blue eyes focused on the blonde appearing in front of him. She looks familiar, like someone he knows well enough to make a click on his brain, but hard as he tried— he can’t put a name on the face, no matter how familiar she looks. Her eyes, remind him of someone… “Yes, I’m Alexander, hi. Can I help you? Sorry, do we know eachother? I’ve seen you around before, I’m sure.”
It takes all of Josie not to burst into tears on the spot as she takes in his features up close. Though over twenty years had passed, she could see remnants of the gangly twelve year-old she used to worship. If she had doubts that this Alexander was her older brother, this was the confirmation she needed. “Hi...” she whispers, feeling like her heart is about to beat out of her chest. There’s a part of her that is completely aware that she must be making a fool of herself, standing there with her blue eyes wide and unable to mutter more than a single word, but she’s still processing everything and trying to put her thoughts in order. A tiny, hopeful smile eases its way onto her lips when Alex asks if they know each other because she seems familiar. “Y-yeah, actually, we do.” She responds, shifting her weight to her right leg and wetting her lips while getting debating on how to break the news to him. Beating around the bush was never really her specialty so she figures she should just come out and say it, “It’s me— I’m Josie.”

who : josephine & alexander ( @soulcfaman )
where : alexander’s house
This was the moment she’d been waiting for since that fateful day. Twenty-three years had passed but she’d never forget how she felt when the social workers took her away. Alexander hadn’t been there and they’d taken her before she could say goodbye. Searching for him hadn’t been easy - hell, two whole decades had passed ! - and there were times where Josie thought she ought to give up, that maybe he didn’t want to be found. But then she’d see a pair of siblings in the streets, or dancing in a wedding she’d planned, and suddenly she’d feel revigorated and hellbent on finding her older brother. It took time, countless tears and sleepless nights, but she finally managed to find his address. Jo couldn’t believe it was actually happening. She moved to New York and spent an entire month trying to plan the best way to reach out to him. Should she try to get his phone number? Maybe text or call him first? No, he’d probably think it was a prank. In the end, she settled on showing up on his doorstep. It’d be quite the shock, Jo was sure of it, but it’d be worth it. Now here she is: standing like a statue, index hovering the doorbell as she takes deep breaths in order to calm herself down. Come on. With a sudden surge of confidence, the blonde squares her shoulders and rings the doorbell. She wraps her arms around herself and waits, listening in for the sound of footsteps until the door creaks open. “ — Alexander?”

“Dear, you know I can’t walk as fast as you do.” Elison was trying his best to follow the other wherever he was being led to. He didn’t actually know if he was being led towards something or just being forced to walk faster for the hell of it. It was tiring, walking with his cane around. Today was one of his bad days where the limp he had was more pronounced because he had a late night and he was tired. But they didn’t want to back out of whatever plans the two of them made. Which, admittedly, he had already forgotten. “Slow down a little and tell me where we’re going.” @villagestart
She’s three seconds away from grabbing Elison by the arm and hauling him along when he speaks up. “But your legs are like, twice as long as mine. I figured you wouldn’t have a problem keeping up, even with the cane.” Josie responds, frowning and immediately slowing down. “I’m sorry, I should’ve realized...” She trails off with a sigh, shaking her head ever so slightly. “Do you need to stop for a bit? I think there’s a coffee shop around the corner, we can sit down for a few minutes.” The blonde suggests, looking back at the male and flashing him a tiny smile. Though that means they’ll be late for the appointment, it’s a sacrifice she’s willing to make. “Cake testing!” Josie exclaims, “I can’t believe you forgot,” she makes a show of pouting before explaining again, “I’ve got this bride-to-be whose fiancé won’t be able to make it so I figured I could use you for a little male perspective. And I trust you’ll be completely honest when she inevitably picks a weird combination with a shitty flavor.”

“Okay, have no fear, I am here. I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to fix the issue, but I’ve brought along my toolbox of knowledge and my handy-dandy cell phone with Google on it. So if I can’t figure it out, someone else on the internet will have an answer… probably.”
“Oh, thank God.” Josie grumbles as soon as she hears the sound of the door opening, followed by Jessy’s familiar voice. The blonde's head snaps up and she grimaces, feeling a crick on her neck from being hunched over for a long time. “Putting a bed together shouldn’t be too hard, right?” She asks, standing up to stretch and meet the other. “I knew I should’ve gone through the papers instead of tossing all of ‘em out with the rest of the moving boxes.” Jo groans, flopping down onto her couch and closing her eyes. She can already feel a headache coming and she hopes to God she and Jessy are able to finish before Olivia wakes up from her nap. “ Who the heck manages to do anything without instructions?”

I saw JOSEPHINE MOORE at a coffee shop in QUEENS today. I forgot how much SHE looks like CANDICE KING. They are a THIRTY-TWO year old WEDDING PLANNER who’s been in NYC for A MONTH now. Every time we run into each other, they are always KIND-HEARTED & BUBBLY but I’ve heard people say they can also be STUBBORN & SUSPICIOUS. FIGHT SONG BY RACHEL PLATTEN reminds me of them every time it comes on the radio.
hello my loves , it’s caroline again and i’m here with another blonde ! this is josephine aka alexander warren’s long lost sibling dun dun dunnnnnn. as always , if you would like to plot , all you gotta do is like this post and i shall appear in your ims as soon as possible.
trigger warnings : mentions of child neglect , domestic violence , substance abuse , overdose , infertility & miscarriage.
BACKSTORY.
born josephine briar warren , daughter of robert warren and alycia reynolds , she was the youngest of two kids. the family lived in hermosa beach , california during all of josie’s childhood.
she was basically raised by her older brother , alexander , since their parents were too busy with their drug business to care for their children.
josie worshiped the ground alexander walked on. he was her very best friend in the whole wide world and she was fascinated by everything he did.
abuse tw : her father’s alcohol and drug problem became worse as the years went by and soon he began abusing josie’s mother and sometimes even alexander. the little girl , however , was lucky enough not to receive any of the physical abuse. she’d learnt to run and hide whenever her father went on one of his rampages.
everything changed when she was nine years-old : alexander wasn’t home when a particularly bad fight broke out between their parents. a concerned neighbor called social services and they ended up taking josephine away. she kicked and screamed for her brother but it was in vain , they took her away and she never got to say goodbye.
josie was put in foster care and spent most of her time holed up in her room , crying herself to sleep for a full month. more often than not , she’d wake up in the middle of the night from nightmares of her father beating her entire family up or of the day she was taken away.
vivian and jeremiah taylor appeared in josephine’s life nearly three years after she was put in foster care. the couple immediately fell in love with the bubbly yet spunky blonde-haired girl and decided to adopt her.
it took josie some time to warm up to her new adoptive parents. they spoiled her with things and , more importantly , love and affection. but since that was something she never experienced coming from a parental figure , josie was reluctant and suspicious.
with time , she grew to accept the fact she was wanted and loved. josephine’s name was officially changed to josephine briar taylor when she was sixteen and it was a day filled with warm hugs and happy tears.
her parents encouraged her to follow her dreams. she was enrolled in the best school , as well as dance class so she could have something to unwind after a stressful day. since education wasn’t a priority during her childhood , it took josie a while to get the hang of things in school. thankfully , she managed to catch up and graduate in time.
her mother worked in a bridal boutique and sometimes josephine would stop by on her way home from school. she’d always her mom interact with brides-to-be , the way they all got teary-eyed whenever they found the dress of their dreams. the aura of the place made josephine happy and excited , so she’d ask to help her mom carry dresses and find acessories whenever possible.
she quickly realized that the wedding industry is where she wanted to be. but instead of being a bridal consultant , she wanted to plan entire weddings. so when graduation rolled around , josephine sent out college applications with her major set in mind : event planning.
josephine was accepted into university of central florida and , while it pained her to leave her parents behind , packed her bags and flew out across the country to start the next chapter of her life.
in college she found herself. maybe it was the fact she was miles and miles away from her birth parents drama, or maybe it was simply the new environment. josie became chattier & happier , making friends wherever she went.
during her second year of college , she met the man who’d later become her husband. the two ran in the same social circles and quickly became best friends. they were there for each other during stressful times such as finals or when one of their flirtationships fizzled out. the two would only get together , however , a short few months before josephine’s graduation.
they both knew they were it for each other and didn’t waste time moving into a small apartment after graduation. the couple ended up staying in florida since he got a job offer that he couldn’t possibly pass on. however, josie flew out to california to visit her parents whenever possible , or they flew in to visit the lovebirds.
josephine’s boyfriend got down on one knee when she was twenty-five. he proposed on christmas morning , in their living room in front of their tiny but filled with presents christmas tree.
being a wedding planner , it took josephine nearly a year and a half to plan the wedding of her dreams. she obsessed over the tiniest of details and had quite a few breakdowns whenever a deadline approached. in the end , it all paid off. she had a picture perfect summery wedding surrounded by her parents and friends. the one thing missing was her big brother , alexander.
josephine always knew she wanted kids , even if the thought of being a mom scared her. she was terrified of being a bad parent like her biological ones had been , but at the same time she wanted to prove to herself that she’d be nothing like them.
infertility & miscarriage tw : getting pregnant was a long , exhaustive process for the blonde. it took her an entire year to feel ready to start trying for a baby , and then month after month after month , the countless pregnancy tests she’d take would turn out negative. when she finally fell pregnant , she ended up having a miscarriage around nine weeks along.
the loss devastated josephine , who retreated into her shell and became distant. the two months following the miscarriage were hard on her marriage since she barely spoke to her husband , thinking he saw her as a failure.
slowly but surely , she went back to the person she used to be before and , much to her surprise , found out she was pregnant only six months after the loss.
josephine gave birth to a gorgeous , chubby baby girl named olivia grace moore. the baby stole her heart as soon as their eyes met and josie swore she’d do everything for her and never let her down.
having her daughter only made her miss her brother even more. she’d tried to find him throughout the years but never managed to. that is , until she got a lead. somehow she managed to locate alexander , who seemed to be living in new york for over a decade now.
before josephine could share the news with her husband , he gave some of his own : a big promotion in which he’d have to move to new york. it all seemed too good to be true , like something that would only happen in her dreams. josephine packed up her things and moved to new york with her husband and daughter , ready to start a new chapter of her life and , hopefully , find her older brother.
PERSONALITY.
despite everything she’s been through during her childhood , josie is probably the bubbliest person you’ll ever meet. she’s always got a smile on her face and a positivite outlook on things.
she loves meeting new people , though underneath her bright smiles and sweet giggles , she’s internally side-eyeing you until she forms a strong opinion on whether or not she wants to be friends with you.
she still has nightmares about her childhood. though they’re not as frequent as they used to be back when she was nine , they still happen. when they do , josie is usually a bit quiet and distant in the days that follow. she knows she’s safe now but she can’t help but be overly alert of her surroundings.
more will be added when my brain isn’t mush
WANTED CONNECTIONS.
husband (major wc , will probably send something to the main later)
college / florida friends
good influence
bad influence
party friends
mom squad
josie’s full wanted connection list is here
EXTRA.
she wants another kid but she’s scared to go through what she did when she was trying to get pregnant with olivia
would love to open up her own wedding planning business
pls don’t ever call her josephine unless 1) it’s a professional conversation or 2) you want her to think you’re mad at her
