Not to start any shit but can we please stop giving idols brownie points for doing the bare minimum when it comes to acknowledging AND respecting black people? Like y'all do realize BTS saying something about the 50th anniversary of MLK’s assassination isn’t enough of a reason to go and fucking flood the ‘mlk’ tag with BTS stuff? Especially considering that tons of western artists mentioned the SAME! Damn! Thing! and no one batted a fucking eyelash about it. Just because they did something that wasn’t vehemently racist like other k idols doesn’t make them your racially woke kings. Y'all truly act as if people from South Korea have never heard of Martin Luther King Jr. when the man literally was one of the most famous people from the 20th century and everyone in our generation has either learned about him or has heard of him! Also I find it funny some of the blogs that flooded the ‘mlk’ tag supported/were apart of the same antiblack rhetoric that Armies threw out against Wale and Cupcakke but that’s something to be addressed in another post. All I’m trying to say rn is that the bar shouldn’t be set so low when it comes to stuff like this and thus doesn’t just apply to BTS but the same could be said for other groups too. Damn hold your idols to a higher standard and maybe they’ll do better and if not then they won’t have the same old excuses y'all let them hide behind time after time.
