For the past few months, every Wednesday at Touchy Studios, a group of ca. twenty students has consistently worked on a new project dealing with the invasive American crayfish. This will now be celebrated! The group of students, called Lobster Lobby (@lobbifest), have organised a screening and party in collaboration with Touchy. This Saturday is the day! Tickets in bio.

In a recent rendezvous, virtuoso and dear friend, Philip Vermeulen, asked me to document his work within the walls of W139—and it was a treat! More info on the actual exhibition below.

In this solo exhibition by Philip Vermeulen you will get to know his newly developed ‘hyper-sculptures’, which shatter and mechanically scatter white light into thousands pieces of color. The roar of colors, the pinching sound and the wind of the fast spinning machines give you an intense physical experience. Within a meta-composition the works are in constant dialogue with each other, submerging you in the dynamics between human and machine.

Philip Vermeulen’s work has been featured at V2_, and this solo exhibition is curated by V2_’s Florian Weigl. It’s open daily from 10 September – 3 October 2021 at W139, Amsterdam

For my friends @acidsurfing, I wrote a piece about my hatred for surfing. I was rather pleasantly surprised to be featured on this. After all, I don't have long hair and golden brown skin; indeed, I am white as milk, bald as Larry David, abs more of a "one-pack”, not tattooed and I don't own a Volkswagen camper.

Today is the release of the magazine in Paris, so I will share the actual result soon. As for these glimpses before you, consider them as teasing whispers, tantalising hints that remain veiled within the secret chambers of the magazine's pages. Go buy it! 💸

For the past two weeks, Elias and I have been spending our time in the provinces of our ancestors: Cantabria and Friesland.⁣ 🇪🇸🇪🇺🇳🇱

More specifically, we have ventured into two streets in Dronryp and Ampuero. A place where we will spend at least two more seasons for this project. For now some images of our European experience, more later 🐄

Two European cuñados embarking on a exciting yet ambiguous journey, delving into the intricacies of two European streets. 🇪🇺⁣ ⁣ ‘23 will witness the exploration of Cantabria (SP) and Friesland (NL), featuring a farm, a restaurant, a church, a school, a train station, the people, the animals, and the landscapes. The purpose? To uncover the underlying narrative that intertwines these two streets, in order to shed light on the grander tale of Europe itself. What secrets do they share, and what can we learn from them? More later! 👋
