Dead End: Paranormal Parl | How to draw Courtney

Courtney's design had to have a lot of thought put into it. Not only is their a twist later in Season 2 about their horns, but also the handcuffs were gonna come off during the show, so we needed to make sure Courtney looked good no matter what.

Included in this collection of Courtney art is a turn around of just her head, something we didn't do for other characters because the horns are deceptively hard to get right. I know I've struggled a lot with them in the comics.

And no, we didn't put that line in about her looking like a croissant because the fandom was calling her that, the crew were already saying that when we wrote it.

Dead End: Paranormal Park | How to draw Norma

Norma was hard to get right in the design process, but once we figured her out she was so much fun to draw. She looks a little different to the version of Norma in the books, but I like to think this show is almost that version's origin story. In the show, Norma is still quite bright eyed and innocent, whereas when we meet her in the book she's quite jaded and downbeat, more like the Norma we see towards the second half of Season 2.

Dead End: Paranormal Park | How to draw Barney

Barney was the most important character to get right. My chief concern was actually his weight. I had seen a lot of rigged shows which only used very skinny, noodle-limbed models. I wanted to make sure he could be chunky and dynamic. And I think we got it right!

Dead End: Paranormal Park | Courtney’s Manacles

When we were initially designing the show, we weren’t completely certain how much detail we’d be able to achieve on our character models. It turned out to not be a whole lot as budget forced our hand. 

However, I still consider this “canon” and might be of interest to fan artists. Designed by @jonathanharrisdraws, we originally envisioned Courtney’s cuffs as having a lot of intricate, angelic detail akin to the interior of the elevator. We even considered ankle monitors or necklaces instead.

Made a trollsona lol. She sleeps a lot which is why she has barnacles growing on her and her hive looks like the mineral tubes of a tubeworm colony. Also I didn’t think of it at the time but she probably says shit like “Oh worm” and “Gotta go to worm” and “This is the wormst day of my life” a lot.
