My dearest Edith,
So far, I’ve been managing well in this situation of mine. I’ve managed to fit in well with the intelligent life here so far. They seem to be very hospitable towards me.
The progress on the portal seems to be coming along well enough. I’ve modified the design for the doorway to have a pentagonal shape and It’s connected to the power banks in the ship, so this portal will have a lot more power and a lot more range.
However, something doesn’t seem right about the political climate of this world. There’s a man in the highest ordinances of the world named Victor Ingrich. The man is supposedly a magician or sorcerer of some kind. It doesn’t make any sense to me, but I can confirm his tricks are no slieght of hand. He plays off in a charismatic manner but somehow he seems to be very conniving. I’ll keep an eye on him, lest I run into any trouble.
I hope you’re doing well in my absence dear. I wish I could return to you and our children right now. However, until the portal is done, I have no way to return. I promise though that I’ll be home soon.
I love you. Tell the kids I love them.
With love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby

April 15, 2001,
My Dearest Edith,
I must regret to inform you that I have crash landed on a planet very, very far away. I do not know if I will be able to return home, not without a means of some kind. All the portals mental has given me to set up have been damaged beyond repair and the ship is lost at the bottom of a cliff. Thankfully, I am safe and have managed to befriend the local intelligent life. They have given me residency for the time being.
It’s a very forest laden planet, to the north of my position are some snow-capped mountains, and not too far from here is a vast ocean that spans off to the west.
My current goal is to create a portal large enough to return home. It’s going to require several materials, and it may take me months to get it finished. Once I return, I am going to tell Mentel to shut down the project and work with what’s been set up. I’m tired of traveling so far away.
I love you dear. Don’t worry much about me. I will keep you updated constantly about my progress.
With love, your husband,
Greg Fitsby.

April 13th, 2001,
My dearest Edith,
As you know I have set out on another journey among the stars to continue my research into these new worlds we have discovered over the last several months.
I have managed to land in another place. However this isn’t a planet. Rather it is a hollowed out asteroid, with a huge extraterrestrial power station inside of it. The crew on this station welcomed me with open arms but refuse to allow me to set up a portal on the premises. However, it seems as though there is a planet nearby, where more civilization exists, and plenty of space for a new portal can be found.
So far, I am not in any immediate danger. But I feel something is looming on the horizon…especially with Späch out on the prowl.
My dear, if something were to ever happen to me, I want you to know first and foremost that I love you and I love our children as well. Please take care of them and please…stay safe.
I will be home in about a week. When I do, we will go out and do something fun. Perhaps take a vacation for a week.
 With Love, your husband,
 Gregory Fitsby.

Love you babe! You're an awesome wife! ❤️
I didn’t know you were married How you long you been together?
Jon and I met on Deviantart around May 2013. I liked some other guy when I entered college but that didnt last long. Then I befriended Jon more and we got close around November of that same year. After much work, we finally met irl on Labor Day 2014. Eventually we’d take train rides to see each other. He lived in Acton, California and I lived in Santa Ana, California. He then proposed to me a few weeks after I graduated from art school (which he attended, being a huge support) on January 6th, 2016. After a huge fiasco involving my ex-roommate screwing us over, we finally escaped her and finally got the wedding underway as well on July 21, 2018. Except one thing. We got legally married ten days before just to take all the pressure away. So we legally married on July 11th.
So far it’s been very blissful. He works at a Walmart in Burbank from 4am to 1pm while taking on music commissions and I’m very proud of him. I sincerely value his work and his talents and just him. Hes able to provide for us and more. He’s the most patient, kind, affectionate, and amazing man I’ve ever met. He’s been nothing but loving these past two months and i couldn’t be happier.
We share a very complementarian relationship and I thank God for a very helpful man like him. We endured so much and we cling on each other to find a solution to things. He cooks with me, cuddles with me, cleans and does laundry with me. I miss him when he’s at work and we’re practically inseparable once he comes home.
I love him. I love you @jon-the-hillbilly . ❤

March 30, 2001:
My dearest Edith,
I am nearing our solar system as of now. I saw a fleet of ships passing by on my way about a day ago. Seemed far too advanced for human civilization. But if I'm not mistaken, I believe I may have seen Späch's ugly face in one of them.
I should be home by tomorrow afternoon. I eagerly await seeing your face again. And our children's faces!
I promise you that I won't ever venture out too far for too long at a time ever again my dear.
I must go now. Nearing Kuiper belt soon.
With Love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 23rd, 2001:
My Dearest Edith,
I'm guessing that another month has passed back at home. I have talked to Mentel about this and she has agreed that I should start heading back. She will send another team to help me out In the continuation of this project. I, on the other hand, will begin heading to the gated planets once per month and studying them.
I'm glad I'll be present more often and that Dr. Mentel is kind enough to allow this.
She's getting worried though. Apparently there was a break in to the portal lab one night. Nothing has been stolen but the diagrams and schematics for the portal were scattered across the workbenches.
I suspect Späch is behind this and I'm sure he intends to make his own portals. What he intends to do once they're made though, I'm not sure.
Whatever the motive, it's going to be real interesting to see the competition between Mentel and Späch's plans.
I just hope that we won't be caught in the firing line when the battle begins.
Anyways dear, I love you. I will see you within a few days.
Love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

My dearest Edith,
I am currently traveling to the new planet using the ship's autopilot function. I'm glad to hear that things are doing alright with you, although I'm quite worried considering that you claim to have received my letter a month ago. Time dilation must be the cause here and this will cause some problems for us.
I don't think I will be going so far out that I will lose all of our time together. But a year for me, may very well be a decade to you.
I shall bring this issue up with Mentel and see if she would allow me to spend more time with you and the kids...and not have it eaten away due to distance.
With Love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

My dearest Edith,
The new planet has a gate installed and I used this opportunity to check in with the office. Dr. Mentel appears to be away...which is unusual considering she never wants to be away from her work all that often.
This new planet is also pretty dangerous. But has beauty in its landscape. I do hope the team explores this gem of a planet.
Missing you my dear. I will see you soon.
With Love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 20th, 2001
My Dearest Edith,
Today marks our wedding anniversary. I'm missing you greatly as always and I wish I wasn't so far across the galaxy at this time.
Space is a lonely place. Even if I come across different types of intelligent life and civilizations beyond the reaches of our solar system, I can't be without my woman, my children, or people of my kind.
This makes me fear for my mental stability in the coming months.
It's not good for man to be alone. Indeed so.
This new planet has a gate installed. Perhaps, if I'm stealthy, I can enter through it to see you all with the gate I built in the basement.
I will attempt that tonight before I go to the next planet tomorrow.
With Love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 19, 2001 10:30 PM
My Dearest Edith,
I have currently arrived on the next planet's surface. It appears to consist of mostly green jungles with a large water content for the ocean.
I await what wonders this new planet has in store for us. I have the portal unit ready for set up, and will get started on linking them to the home portal at Mentel Industries.
I wish I could be there to help you in your sickness. I'm glad Jenny has taken it up to care for you in my absence.
Our children are getting quite old my dear. I look forwards to the time when they will go on to start wonderful lives of their own.
I must get back to work my love. Get well my dear. I want to see you well when I return.
With Love,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 19th, 2001
My dearest Edith,
I have gladly returned to the labs at Mentel Industries. Dr. Mentel and I talked about the events surrounding the takeover by Späch and his mercenaries. She is beyond furious and worried that sensitive material may be leaked.
We don't know exactly what to do about the situation, but she is thinking about sending a team through the portal to confront the group.
In the meantime, I have been told to continue our research. But this time, I will be heading out alone in a small ship that has a portal device equipped. On the planets that are suitable for human life, I'll plant a gate on the surface so that a proper team could explore the place later on.
I don't think I will be able to come home for several months. But surely I will be back before the end of the year, and keep in contact with you as I go on this adventure.
I am going to miss you my love. And I will miss our children as well. Be sure to give them as many hugs for me as you can my dear.
It's now time for me to begin my voyage. I will contact you again once I reach the next planet. Pray I stay safe out there amongst the stars.
With love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 13th, 2001.
My Dearest Edith,
I'm sure you must be worried sick about my wellbeing with this new adversity I've had to deal with. Alas, there has been very little rest for me the past couple days as I have been very busy devising a plan of attack.
If everything goes well, and the mercenary guards of Späch's crew are distracted enough, I may be able to return home alive. You can be sure I will be visiting Dr. Mentel personally over this.
I have never missed you all so badly in my entire life as I do now. Do pray I make it back safely my dear. There is still a good chance I may lose my life if I fail.
With love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 6th, 2001
My dearest Edith,
I regret to inform you that my crew has been destroyed and I am now stranded on a different planet. I may never be able to come home.
Dr. Späch is the one responsible for this tragedy. The fiend had assembled a small crew of mercenaries to take over the project entirely.
I am devastated and don’t know what to do.
My dear, I will keep you updated on how I am doing for as long as I am able to. In the meantime I will be working on a way to return home.
Späch and his mercenaries will need to return to earth at some point, perhaps I can find some hole in their defenses and slip through the cracks.
In the event you do not hear from me for any longer than a week, I may be dead.
I love you. All of you. Pray I may return soon.
Your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

March 3rd, 2001
My dearest Edith,
I am quite concerned with the latest developments concerning our expedition to the various worlds that we have discovered outside our solar system.
For one, concerning the funding for the expedition, Mentel’s investors are casting doubt upon our claims. While they haven’t withdrawn their support yet, there is the possibility they may if they do not see how this will benefit them.
On another, we have reached our next world, which is far more dangerous than the last. The planet appears to be half machine in a sense, and the inhabitants likewise are machines. We’ve had a more negative reaction from these machines. Though we have yet to be threatened by them.
And finally, I suspect a traitor in our midst as well. Mentel has relayed to me on a number of occasions recently that sensitive information concerning our expedition has been leaking out to rival companies. Furthermore, some guards have noted that two of our crew’s tents are empty every other night. Dan and Späch’s. I’ve been charged to investigate the matter.
How are you my dear? And how are our children too? I do apologize for not corresponding with you sooner. Things got in the way over the last week and needless to say I haven’t been able to keep up.
As always, I look forwards to seeing you after we return again. I miss your embrace.
I must return to work now. So I will write again at a later time.
Love you.
Your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.

February 5th, 2001
My dearest Edith,
Unfortunately, one of our crew was injured by the local wildlife. This means we’ll have to cut the trip short and return when we’re better prepared. I won’t be heading out this next time around however, since they want to keep me home to monitor from our home planet. Honestly I don’t approve of that as I would like to oversee the research in person, but what can I do? Orders are orders after all.
On the upside my love, I will be home more often this month. So I can tend to my usual fatherly duties and to being your scatterbrained, lovesick husband. I may be a bit busy during the evenings as I’ve been working up a project involving those crystals my brother dropped off. If my math is correct, the possibility of time travel could be achievable with them.
Or it could just wind up creating another portal for me to use from home.
But either way I shall be home. And with that I shall end my letter as I will be there tomorrow afternoon as usual. I love you my dear. Give our children my affection for tonight if you will please. I do miss them dearly.
With love, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby

February 2nd, 2001:
My dearest Edith,
We have arrived at the next dimension according to our harmonic frequency list. This place is far more hostile in nature, as the region of the planet we’re in is teeming with volcanic activity.
We’ve been safe thus far since we are stationed near a high rock outcropping isolated away from the volcanic sites. Nevertheless, we need to be extremely careful here.
The life forms here are largely animalistic. I haven’t seen any form of intelligent life or any clear civilizations. So we are either in a completely isolated location away from intelligent species here, or there simply are none.
This place gives causes me to be a bit more restless than the last one, and is a great reminder of how dangerous our expedition is. The next world could lack a suitable atmosphere for human life, and the one after that, could have inhabitants that aren’t particularly friendly towards strange beings.
The other issue is the ethics behind it, but I won’t discuss this for now. While I have my fears, I do share Dr. Mentel’s vision for the future of humanity and how we could, perhaps, benefit other civilizations. But for now, we shall explore the unknown.
I do wish I could be there though my dear. The flu season this year seems to have been fairly mild from what I have heard but nevertheless, I do wish I could tend to you all as you recover.
Anyways my love, I shall wrap up my letter for the night. I shall see you in two weeks hopefully.
Pray that I will stay safe, and that I shall return to your arms unscathed.
With tender love and affection, your husband,
Gregory Fitsby.
